Your body doesn’t “hold on” to calories. You move less if your energy level is too low therefore will burn less calories. Plus you are just setting yourself up for a binge that will likely undo your deficit.

Not only does soda not dehydrate you, It hydrates better than plain water.

LOL there you have have it
soda is better than water - please all coaches and parents from now on instead of water give your kids mountain dew to drink during the middle of a 90 degree soccer game

That would be silly - not because it wouldn't hydrate them but because sugar isn't good for their teeth ( yes I know you can brush them but nobody is going to do that in middle of a sports game ) and carbonation is going to give tummy ache if you run around after drinking it.

Cold tea would do fine - but our cultural expectation is water, that's all.

you will notice that your chart while showing more water retention does NOT take into account actually water availability - your top drink all have SUGAR - sugar is the worst inflammatory there is - so while you retain more water it is NOT available for use as it is locked up in joints - 3rd spacing edema

swelling due to water retention involves the enlargement of organs, skin, or other body structures. It is caused by excessive buildup of fluid in the tissues. This build up can lead to a rapid increase in weight over a short period of time (days to weeks). Swelling can occur throughout the body (generalized) or it may be limited to a specific part of the body (localized)

    - water is your best option - why do people lose so much weight initially on KETO - no sugar ---- they literally piss that water out as there is no sugar to hold onto it.... PLEASE stop spreading this garbage

Please cite just one reputable source for this incredible pile of horse manure.

I'll make it easy for - why do diabetics have swelling edma related issues? answer their bodies can;t not process sugar effectively thus causing 3rd space swelling and water retention as a whole which is also why they have on average higher BP related issues

No it isn't - it is because of the high correlation of diabetes with cardiac and kidney disease - hence increased BP levels.

Not sure about the rest, but starvation mode is a myth. If it were true, severely anorexic people would not continue to lose weight. As long as you're alive, you will burn calories (heart beating, lungs breathing). The Minnesota study that termed "starvation mode" was proven to be a very false study and completely, and repeatedly debunked. The only way your metabolism actually stops is death.
