Diet is important. Eventually overindulging in Pizza cookies and soda will negate all exercise6

Hmmmm it’s always worked for me. Exercise allows me to indulge you only live once. Iv been size 8-10 all my life and indulged just the last year I havnt had time to exercise hence the 3 stone pile on. I’m
Now 30 so if it was gunna affect me then now would b it but seems to work for me.3 -
So... you're burning more calories than you eat. CICO. Same as everyone else here. You are just focusing on the calories out more than on the calories in. Different ways for different people but it still comes down to the same thing in the end. Good job!16
-
You can create a cakorie deficit through diet, activity or both. It is usually is harder for someone to create their deficit consistantly through exercise alone. I doubt a lot of people here said exercise does not help lose weight. I think most people choose to change calorie intake and calories burned.
It is all CICO.1 -
I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that exercise doesn't or can't help with weight loss. You can still over eat and over indulge with regular exercise though...it doesn't default to weight loss. Most people will exercise and compensate by eating more...I see lots of them at the gym and they haven't changed one bit in years.4

You lost weight one week. Great! But it doesn't prove one dang thing.5

Weight loss isn't linear4
-
Yeah, um, in order to lose 8lbs in a week you would have to burn 28,000 calories. It is more likely that over the last few weeks you were retaining water.
Beyond that, are you really here to gloat? That seems unpleasant.16 -
I feel best when I go about it both ways. Stay active, get some workouts in throughout the week, eat a healthy balanced diet within my calorie limits. Some days I eat less than the goal MFP set and some I am probably closer to maintenance.2
-
Well it’s a method that’s always worked for me I don’t see why people should focus on starving them self’s when if you work hard enough you can lose the weight and eat normally enjoying luxuries.
Not gloating just saying exactly how it works for me.
Iv always been an active person just last year was difficult being a single mum of 3 and unable to have childcare so without the gym I piled on weight. I refuse to change my diet when eating is something I love and so is exercise.
But it shows how exercise is a very important aspect as the only reason I put on the 3 stone was because I couldn’t physically get to the gym. Made me cranky, tire all the time. Depressed even more.
Exercise is a key element to weight maintenance.
I thought this community is meant to be here to share experiences and not criticise but seems by some of you criticising is allot of what goes on here!!!6 -

Also more likely and medical reason is that Iv put on muscle which weighs heavier than fat. Hence when ever any starts at gym it can take a few weeks to notice a weight loss. Probably some water factor too I don’t deny but as I’m fitting clothes now it’s defo working and my leg muscles are showing definition already from allot of strength exercise. I work hard in gym as I love exercise.

I’m extremely disappointed in this remark and everyone who liked it. This is meant to be a forum to share experiences and help each other not criticise!
And no not water the actual likely result is due to you build muscle which is heavier than fat.
I’m sharing how it works for me which is what I thought this platform is for! Not to bully, judge or criticise!

If I was wrong I apologize. On a message board it is hard to tell tone. To be fair though when you start by saying "Yay it is working when people said it wouldn't" seems very strongly like "Look here how I lost weight proving people wrong!"
A number of people who liked my post may not have even centered on the gloating part but the part that proved that scientifically what you claimed was impossible. Unless you lose a limb you can't physically lose 8lbs of fat in a week. Your comments about muscle make no sense considering you lost weight. Weight loss is not linear and trying to attribute recent activity and eating patterns to immediate scale results will lead you all kinds of wrong.
You are well within your right to believe what you want. When you share it here people have the right to say no so that someone else that doesn't know better doesn't fall for a myth.

It’s not impossible to lose 8lb of fat in around week and half which if you consider I weigh on a Monday and today is Friday. Just seems like you don’t like my method which works for me so looking to pick out faults and yeah I’m gunna gloat as everyone does when they lose weight like jeez if you havnt got any nice to say don’t say it15

You have to burn 28,000 calories to lose 8lbs of fat. So for 10 days straight you would have to burn 2800 calories per day. You claim to have eaten what you wanted and exercised enough to burn ~3000 calories in that time. I am sorry that you think I am being mean but I am just stating the science of it.12 -

And it’s not that anyone is trying to rain on your parade, it’s just that other people might read this and think “so if I just work out a little, I can eat whatever I want and lose weight!” and that’s just not true unless “whatever they want” is an amount that will still keep them in a calorie deficit, and it isn’t for most people (or at least not most people who would download and use a weight loss app)

Ofcorse that’s acheiveable I’m up from 7am until 10pm running around after 3 kids, working an active job I do around 15000 steps a day. It’s perfectly achievable if your willing to put the effort into it.
I also stated I pig out and eat what I like a few days a week. Also I said that some of it is probably water but in total I lost 8lb doing it my way and have done my whole life!
Everyone’s metabolism is different and people burn calories different also. Also depends what time you go to gym as it’s morning gym session you will always burn off more calories in day and also depends on how well you sleep.
I feel you like you to pick faults in anything you can just because it’s done in a way which you don’t like.
It works for me and you know what if more people got more active and allowed them self’s treats they wouldn’t end up binging or going off the rails with food or starving their body.

Congrats! You lost water weight!!! Almost everyone in the world’s weight can sway 2-20 lbs over the course of 2 weeks.
If your diet prior to the two weeks of hard work was pizza, cola, cookies, and any other high carb food. Then for 2 weeks you eat relatively healthier and consume plenty of water, then boom you lose 8lbs of water.
I will be impressed if you can truthfully lose 32 lbs in 8 weeks assuming you can maintain your lose 4 lbs a week method by overindulging and hitting the weights.

6 weeks from now, when 4 of those water weight pounds have come back, I predict that the OP will come back to ask for advice on why she's stalled.8

muscle doesnt weigh more than fat, it just takes up less space than fat...1 lb of muscle or 1lb of fat is 1lb no matter what....5
