Round 41
Please join us! Starting on 05/18 through O5/27, JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 41
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

I figured I'd be up after a weekend visiting family. My hands are visibly swollen from water retention too. I feel like crap. I'm going to work on eating better, feeling better, and getting back to my exercise routine this week and see if I can recover from this weekend.

This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
5/18 138.5 Well not surprised. Yesterday was our 48th wedding anniversary and my 10 month Ketoversary. Down 30# We attended a dinner party last night and there was sugar in everything - at least that was the way it felt/tasted. My ketones are low (0.5) but still present.
5/19 138.5 Lovely grilled dinner at Red Lobster. Ate my little lobster tail, a few shrimp, and two bites of salmon. Also salad with blue cheese dressing and 3/4 of a cheddar biscuit. Those biscuits no longer taste good to me. Strawberries and whipped cream for dessert when we got home. Breakfast with lady friends at 8 AM today. Have I mentioned lately that I am not a breakfast person? I ate about 1/4 of my omelet which was relatively tasteless in spite of Monterrey Jack cheese and lots of green chilies.
5/20 139.0 WTH??? I suspect there were hidden carbs in that omelet are causing me to retain water because I really didn’t overeat. Also was way below on water. UGH!
5/21 138.0 When I pointed out to DH this morning that I had brought home breakfast potatoes on Saturday he said “we don’t eat those anymore.” Whoo hoo, he is coming to a more Keto WOE!
5/22 138.0 My stomach is upset. Blech!!!6 -
Round 2 for me. Last round I was away helping daughter pack and clean house. Despite the work, I obviously ate too much of her good, organic food (and Swiss chocolate)

Day/Weight/Comment
5/18 164.4 - Hoping this is just a blip up and not what I gained the last week and a half.
5/19 163 - This was a happy surprise – Hope I can keep going. I was fairly consistently around this before my trip but was afraid I’d put some lb. back on. Guess we’ll see tomorrow. Went to the gym yesterday for the first time since I got back and ate somewhat on target. Still dead tired from all the travel.
5/20 163.3
5/21 162.8 – So nice to see this number again after the bump up on my trip. Gardening the last couple of days – clearing out weeds isn’t all that much exercise but way less snack inducing than inside the house.
5/22 162.4 - gym closed for Victoria day yesterday but lots of outside work.

We moved last Thursday and this is the first time I've been on my computer since Wed., 5-16. I'll try to catch up!
I'm not keen on weight goals since I can't control the scale, but I'm determined to stick to my eating and exercise goals now and will hope to drop a pound per round (3/month) with an eye to hitting my UGW by early December.
Goals:
Weight ~~ UGW - 130; looking for indefinite downward trend each round, ideally 1 pound/round.
Food ~~ 1430 calories max; P 15-25%, C 35-50%, F 30-45%

I finally got to the doctor today - I've been fighting swollen glands & jaw pain as a result for almost 2 weeks, but no time.... Anyway, started antibiotics and I'm hoping by tomorrow I'll notice some improvement. We're still not fully unpacked and are eating out, but I think tomorrow is grocery shopping day, so I can get back on track. I am burning some calories with work in the garden and unpacking/moving stuff around. I haven't worried about what I eat other than to track. One bit NSV at the doctor's office - I used to take BP medication, before I lost 70 pounds, but haven't taken them in 18 months. I haven't checked in a while and was a little apprehensive, but even after sprinting from the parking lot and being sick, it was 120/79. Yay!
05/22 - 150 - 1999
Feeling marginally better. I'm working a lot in the garden, heavy stuff, so hungry! But weight is holding/slightly down despite eating out still. We keep having to run here and there for hardware or whatnot, and decide to eat out. Oh, well.

Day/Weight/Comment
5/18 142.8 Stressful day. I didn't eat my stress until after my MRI. That put me over the edge and I sat down with a bag of lentil chips. Find out the results on Monday.
5/19 144.0 Workout and birthday party. I didn't eat any pizza or chips (yay!) I did have some birthday cake. Lots of water to flush out salts from the bag of chips from yesterday.
5/20 143.8 Going shopping today to plan my meals for this week. I set a mini goal with a friend from work so that we can encourage each other. I really wanted to get to the 130's by the end of this challenge. I have a family reunion after the 1st week of June. Family I haven't seen since I was a little girl. I'm really nervous about it. It's a very emotional journey.
5/21 142.6
5/22 142.6 I remember when I first started eating clean, that my body really hung on to the weight for a week before it just started melting off. Patience is key.

@cjsacto Congratulations!
@quiltingjaine Yes, my eating (both over & under), and I notice many other’s, shows up on scale 2-3 days later. We should put this in BOLD!!!
I feel it contributes to weight gain because if we overdo it, the scale doesn’t register so “OK I can eat more!” NOT because 2-3 days later there’s a jump & we think “But I was good yesterday. Oh well I will power on” & a few days later (after much strife) the scale goes down. Just graph your calories and weight and you will clearly see the “lag” in the system & it will all seem less perplexing & mysterious & therefore MUCH more under your control!!
@puddlegoober I have been taking it very hard line with food pushers because of something I saw on MFP. I’m paraphrasing & adding to it here, but one response is: “I have pushed death back and increased the chances of better health for my remaining life, so I’m going to eat exactly what I have learned is best for me. Thank you for wanting to make me happy with such a beautiful meal/cake/treat, but supporting what I have figured out makes me healthy and feel great is the BEST WAY you can show me your Love. ❤️
@mommymary Thanks for being a Teacher!!! Happy Healthy Summer! You are going to feel so Great in the Fall!!!
@brightresolve I know you’ve got this!! Really!
@curvyycaloriess I have used many different methods and apps and exercises over the past 29 months. Do whatever it takes, whatever you need, to be successful. Right now I use an Apple Watch for exercise & movement which gives me an accurate calories burned number, One behaviorally cased app, one calorie & micronutrient tracker, MFP (challenges and community), a weight tracker linked to my scale, and just added a trend tracker (Happy Scale). For exercise I began with very short slow walks & then a once a week Very Easy Pilates session per week- mostly stretching & trying to regain some energy & flexibility...then longer walks still slow & 2 sessions Pilates with a little more exercises ...and then faster shorter walks, 3 Pilates...then hikes, weights at Pilates, hill climbs, and more steps. Take it SLOWLY. It really does work.
@mz144 Hooray!!
@sindeloho Yay! How exciting!! SO glad you are seeing results!! Now you are over the hardest part...The Beginning!!!!4 -
I may have to give in to a high calorie day today. Yeah, peanut butter, lol. I am just tired and need some energy. Sleep was fitful last night. MY mind was too active, thinking about the funeral today and my husband. BIL was his youngest brother and his grief hit him pretty hard.12

5/20 170.4 Totally building muscle and feeling leaner; however, & I STILL have to keep reminding myself that my goal is now losing 2 lbs a month instead of 4. I find myself worrying that I won’t, but I think - with time - I will fret less. The trending app helps. My 10-day moving average is down 2.1 lbs in 20 days. Last month, I was down 5.3 lbs in 30 days. Slowly, I will adjust. Quite the mind shift.
5/21 170.0 I’m glad I purposely have slowed down my weight loss. It’s funny that it feels as though I’m gaining - when I’m not. I can see this will take some time, but I’m hopeful.
5/22 170.0 I think maybe I’m getting the hang of this trend line is now 2.2 lbs in 22 days - very helpful. Great workout yesterday! Losing inches (glad I took measurements in Hanuary & March) with definitely leaner look through waist (in the morning before my large breakfast LOL) & arms & shoulders feel much stronger. All part of this journey.

Apple Watch Energy - 1900 > 0 daily
Daily walks - easy does it!
Give resistance & weight training 3X/week your all.
Remember: Your new “Skinny” pants are now loose, arms look much better, legs/butt more toned/better shape, and your waist is better defined with abs right below the skin! Who knew?!?!!! Celebrate! These are your rewards now - not the scale. Give yourself time to adjust to this New Reality.

@tiabirdie56 I have dealt with grief - and massive grief - and much to my surprise, I learned that it is not just emotional, but definitely also physical. You DO need more calories now. Trust me. Just eat mindfully & do take some light strolls. Exercise, easily done, will provide endorphins to ease your pain & support your DH. It is a time for extreme self-care. Thinking of you, him, and your family at this time. Hugs.5

@MadisonMolly2017, Thank you so much. I feel like our family has been inundated with grief since the late 90's. My DH and I each have lost our parents, grandparents, brothers, SIL, uncle, DIL's dad, so many friends, friends children. It's a heavy weight.
I also must say that from the grief I've dealt with in my life that it is hard for me to even read about someone else's grief without going into high stress.6 -

5/19 – 157.8 Carb heavy day yesterday and for the next couple of days so I won’t be too worried about the scales for a bit. I’ll just make sure I stay within my calorie range for those days and drink lots of water.
5/20 – 158.2 Expected. So many carbs, so much sodium!
5/21 – 157.6 Cut back on the carbs and sodium yesterday. I also started T25. My legs are a bit sore!
5/22 – 157.6 Holding steady! Today a friend is buying me dinner. I know what I should have, but I also know what I’m going to have and it’ll put me a bit over my calorie range. Bring on the carbs!
