Not sure if I have posted this one before as it has happened a few times and I have very mixed feelings about it. I have had people share snide remarks with me about others who are overweight. Depending on the situation, I do sometimes let people know that used to be me and I don't appreciate that kind of denigration. But it is an indicator that I am seen as one of the fit people by other fit people.22

Just looked at my annual workplace Health Risk Assessment results, and so excited! Changes from 6/2/17 to 5/15/18:
- BMI: 30.7 to 25.6
- waist: 33 to 30.5
- LDL: 150 to 109
- HDL: 68 to 84
- cholesterol ratio: 3.5 to 2.5
- glucose: 102 to 86

I don't like this at all. It happens to me all of the time, even though I am still technically a little overweight myself, I suppose I am seen as "average" (not in plus clothing and pretty active). I don't take it as a compliment though as that isn't a "club" I want to be in, the mocking & shaming of heavier people. No thanks.
The worst (for whatever reason) is when it's people who knew me when I was at my heaviest. I don't know how they can do this when they remember how big I was. It really bugs me. Most of the time though it's people who didn't know the heavier me and just assume I have always been my current size.
I usually just ignore the rude comments on other people or say something positive. For example my 72 year old father made a snide remark about our server in a restaurant who was very big and I said "she's so young & pretty, are you serious?" and he was totally embarrassed as he should be.

It really surprises me also when it is someone who knew me heavy. I called out someone on that no long ago and he said that at least I realized it was a problem and fixed it. Until I maintain this a whole lot longer, I am not sure I fixed anything and it still doesn't make comments like that any more acceptable. Don't they realize that I now assume they talked like that about me?16 -
I just got back from shopping for a shirt and belt to go to a couple of graduations. I have pants that are passable; a little big but okay. I had trouble finding a belt. At one store, 32-36 was the smallest men's belt. At another, they had very few 30" belts, but at least they had them. I bought a medium dress shirt. I tried a medium fitted and was able to button it over a T shirt, but it was a little too tight. The large shirts in my closet are way too obviously the wrong size. I can get away with large casual and especially my island shirts but an oversized dress shirt looks bad.11

It's a little thing but it feel so much bigger so I wanted to share.
I'm not afraid of stairs anymore I used to go out of my way to find escalators and elevators (lifts) because I dreaded taking stairs. Not anymore.32 -
I gave myself permission this weekend to not log anything and to eat (and drink) whatever I wanted at a beerfest in Alaska. I mentally prepared myself to gain a couple pounds and I was totally ok with that! Instead, I ate until I was full (it still wasn't exactly healthy food) and lost 1/2 a pound by the end of the weekend! I think I've finally re-wired my brain so that I'm happy eating because I'm hungry, not because I'm bored/food is within reach, which is a HUGE deal for me.36

Although - and this may sound crazy - sometimes I'm honestly a tiny bit impressed when I am with someone of an average size and they didn't know me "before" and they describe a morbidly obese person in such a kind way such as avoiding the topic of size or saying "she's a bit bigger" or "he's the one with a goatee who is a bit heavy". I feel like when I was obese I just would have assumed people said "The huge fat girl".

I can wrap a regular towel around myself. I've always used bathsheets for my body and the regular sized ones for my hair. I forgot to bring the bathsheet into the bathroom with me, so I just used the regular sized towel and I am so happy! I can wrap it around me, tuck it in so it stays on, and I don't have any openings that need additional covering.28

This is sorta scale-related, but still. My regular weigh-in day is Sunday, and until last week it worked pretty well so that it reflected my weight loss (and matched what I should be losing, according to Fitbit+food log numbers). This Sunday, I got up, got on the scale all excited because my deficit indicated a decent loss, and.... +0.4kg. After maybe 10 re-do weigh-ins, I took a deep breath, did a quick mental check and realized I had eaten a lot of carbs the previous day, and because I woke up so early on Sunday I hadn't had a larger bathroom visit yet (I'm regular almost to the clock). Took another deep breath, decided to take my measurements (indicated a good loss!), and re-do my weigh-in the next day. On Monday, the scale had moved -0.7kg, or -0.3kg compared to the previous week's weigh-in, meaning the whole bloat was gone and the actual weekly loss was right where it should have been. The real NSV here was that even regarding my scale, I managed to keep an attitude of "keep calm and carry on".24

Today, a retired colleague popped in for a visit. As we are both coeliac, she bought me a lemon meringue pie that was gluten free (not realising I am on LCHF). Not wanting to hurt her feelings, I took it and put it in the fridge. Fast forward 12 hours and I Just crawled into bed and did my nightly inventory of ‘what did I do:not do today’ and realised that I literally did not think about it once all day. Time was, I would have obsessed over it until I finally ‘had’ to eat it. Not once. All day.30

just got to work today and have been telling everyone -they know I have upped my runs, so it isn't annoying/weird for them to get a weekly update
still buzzing. And it is weirding me out that next Sunday is a 10 mile - which I now know I can do well. (Hills galore in this week's runs too)
Also, I spent the weekend after run eating pizza and sat watching anime (Food Wars no less) and ate around maintenance - mostly pizza and chocolate but I don't feel all sluggish and crud for back to work! yay!12 -
First time posting! All my belts were beat up and too big so I purchased 2 new ones that were a size smaller. When I put them on I was able to use the second hole!19

I was finally allowed in the water this weekend. Sunday I kept moving while playing in the pool with my daughter and niece. Yesterday I got to go to the gym and swim laps for the first time in months. Even though I've slowed down a bit, it felt amazing. Because I've been able to start working out again I feel emotionally ready for the next challenge.21

I had three this weekend:
1. Ran the Soldier Field 10-miler on Saturday morning! Not my best time, but not my worst, either.
2. Posed nude for a drawing class for 3 hours on Saturday afternoon - was a bit nervous, but it was awesome to see what they drew and to feel good about my body.
3. Played a bit of tennis yesterday for the first time in years.29 -

1. I packed a gym bag for my crazy work weekend away (30 hours in 2.5 days) and followed through by running on Sunday morning.
2. A colleague I hadn't seen since September told me I looked fantastic and it was clear I had lost a lot of weight.19 -
Went to the in-laws for a Memorial Day BBQ (hadn't seen most of them in a few months) and was told that my face and everything looked skinnier. It is nice to hear from people who aren't obligated to say things (like my close family)14

Going canoeing with my two older sons and husband this weekend, my naturally athletic second son (6) wanted to go with me and we smoked everyone else (even the grown men with bigger kids). Granted, they were after a more leisurely paddle, but still...Boy #2 just wanted to paddle, not hang out (a boy after my own heart), so I indulged him a few times by paddling out ahead and then paddling back upstream to the group. I remembered how much I love paddle sports and got my husband talking about what kind of canoe to buy for me17

I am a long time paddler - rafts, rowboats, kayaks and canoes. Recently I took up SUP paddling. Get out on one a few times until you can balance pretty well and have the basic stroke down. Then try a race board. You should be forewarned that at this point you will be looking in the couch cushions for $1000 or so...4 -

GOOD FOR YOU! On #2. It takes a lot of guts and self-confidence (that you did not think that you had, probably) to do something like that. I have done that as well. A few times. It is most challenging the first time....after that, not a problem at all!

My boyfriend and I went to Chicago this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary and pretty much spent two and a half days walking all over the downtown area. Yesterday on the train ride home we were discussing working out this week and how we were both so exhausted we probably wouldn't have the energy until Wednesday at the earliest. Despite the weekend I'm feeling 90% (would be 100, but -10% because TOM hit today...) and fully prepared for my weight lifting routine! I'm super excited to still have the energy for it despite such a busy and active weekend!21

Took a trip to St. Louis with the SO and have a couple of NSVs:
1. Woke up early and went to the gym before the flight
2. went to the gym AFTER we landed back home!
3. Ate everything in sight.... but actually came in under maintenance after I logged everything! And lemme tell ya, when you're measuring the amount of BBQ you ate in POUNDS, you don't expect it to be a pretty picture!
4. Kept up with him, made healthy choices, hit steps (and then some!) every day of the trip, and am faced only with a little bit of sodium bloat today on the scale!35 -
Mine is a simple one. Sitting in a folding chair and being able to see the sides of the seat during a job site visit. Same thing in a plane, see both sides and lots of extra room in the seat belt. Also walking down the aisle in the plane and not having to turn in/out to stagger around people hanging into the walk way. So simple!28

Last night I went to a combo of two events that I knew beforehand would include champagne and marshmallows, and then a three-course dinner with wines. I had already decided that I would enjoy freely everything else that was served but would not touch the marshmallows as I always end up eating a bunch just because of sugar cravings even though I don’t really like them that much. I’m proud to report back that I did not eat a single marshmallow!27

I'm finally overweight and not obese on the BMI anymore! Yes I know BMI is a very particular way of calculating health, and I'm not the biggest fan, but it's still a positive!
And I finally got around to ordering a leather punch from Amazon so I could put another hole in my favourite belt, apparently I needed TWO new holes down!37 -
I got my cadence up to 80 yesterday.SO impressed with myself.Our coach started with some new training yesterday,and it was just awesome.13
