Went to the ocean this weekend.Did a test of the xc track,2 laps.(It was a bit much for me).But afterwards we went riding along the sea shore and the next day i rode along the xc track,taking pictures of the participants,which included my husband and son.It was so relaxing and having fun.13

DH and I had a conversation about running and exercise. Last year the topic was where to eat.22

When I joined my gym I had to take a basic skills test to see if I was flexible/strong enough to join in the group weights sessions. I most definitely wasn't(!), so started with 1:1 sessions instead.
Sometimes I'm in the gym when the group sessions are happening, and its all these muscly guys who look like they could flip tyres, and they're really sweating it out. It looks terrifying!!
Anyway, due to financial commitments I'm not going to be able to afford 1:1 sessions anymore, and last week I tentatively asked my PT if he thought I'd be able to keep up with group sessions, which are cheaper.
His response?
"Definitely! You're 100% capable of doing what they do."

I am a long time paddler - rafts, rowboats, kayaks and canoes. Recently I took up SUP paddling. Get out on one a few times until you can balance pretty well and have the basic stroke down. Then try a race board. You should be forewarned that at this point you will be looking in the couch cushions for $1000 or so...
Is there a dragon boat club in your area that you could try? I really enjoy paddling the kayak and canoe but I love dragon boating the most. I think its because I like the team aspect0 -

Yes, there is. I like SUP for the social aspect but I still get out and paddle alone sometimes for exercise. I have been doing about 10 miles a week on a slow board (I guess that is a NSV) that requires a lot of effort to average 3.3+ mph. I also like that I can go on rivers, lakes and surf at the beach.4 -
Ran my first 5 mile run today! Working my way up to a 10k. Saw a 15k in September. DH says "Go for it!". He's a non runner.☺21

Was at Target today and chit-chatted with a lady that I thought was in great shape and thought "I can't wait to be like that". Then I noticed she was buying the exact same jeans (including size, brand, everything) that I was wearing. I still see myself as chubby quite a lot. It was a bit shocking for me that the women that I see as thin are the same size as me.39

Moving a heavy pullout bed couch into another room. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, but...
I have had long term issues with anxiety, panic and a medley of GI issues I found out were attributed to sugar, carbs and gluten between a few doctors and diet attempts over the past few years. It almost cost me my doctorate. It cost me financial stability. It cost me friends and job networking. I went low carb, and after marginal results decided to try keto. The transformation was incredible.
I have feared exercise or even general activity for so long because of my disorder, and my GI problems always left me with overall bloating, pain and feeling unwell. Trying to do anything in that state overtaxed me and triggered a serious panic attack state.
I carefully do keto only eating good clean foods and keeping electrolytes and hydration up. Today, moving a heavy furniture did not put me into pounding panic palpitations. Today I felt great. In fact, maybe I'll go for a walk after dinner. My mood has been incredible for the past few weeks where before I was always this irritable grumpy hermit. Today, I feel I can greet the world once more.
I can finally BE a person again. I feel like the "me" that vanished under health issues is finally coming back. Trying not to cry in front of other household members while typing this I just, it's been so long since I've felt enabled like this. I never knew so much good could come even before bigger weight loss. I'm excited about this driving my path to a better me overall. I wish I started sooner but I'm happy none the less!50 -
1. Finally started running again last week. Pace was very slow but it still felt great!
2. Fit into some shorts that I haven't worn in 4 years!
3. This is a scale victory but I'm too excited...my baby turned 9 months the weekend and I'm officially at pre-pregnancy weight! 9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off! It took much longer to get back to pre-pregnancy weight with my first child so I'm ecstatic26 -
I took up cycling fairly recently.
My first time out on the bike was a 10 minute ride around the 1.8km (1.1 mile) block where I had to get off the bike and walk up a pretty tame hill as my legs gave out pedalling. That 10 minutes almost destroyed me!
Over the past few weekends I've started doing rides well over the 1 hour mark in duration, hitting distances of around 20km (12.4 miles) and smashing through hill climbs 10x longer and 5x steeper than the little hill near my house that broke me my first time out.
Not bad progress for about two and a half months! I've gotten so cocky that I've signed myself up for a 60km (37.2 mile) charity ride in November!29 -
I ordered new dress shirts and mistakenly ordered slim fit. not only do they fit but it looks kinda flattering.33

Today I went to an actual high-end sportswear shop (Sweaty Betty) to buy gym gear. After needing their XL for shorts, which was a little disappointing, I was dead chuffed to discover that in their tops I'm a perfect S
Also, I went generally clothes shopping and there were several shops where I was prevented from spending money because their range didn't run small enough.
What the heck?! I'm not even in the 'normal' BMI range yet!23 -
I have always been sitting at Poor or Poor-Fair on this scale. This is the FIRST time I have seen just FAIR!! Super exciting!!
Next NSV is to see Fair-Average and then to fit comfortably in my size 12 jeans again

Social aspect? Is it really social (ie you are talking all the time) or is that aspect optional? I loved rowing on the crew team in college bc during the actual training/racing I didn’t have to talk to anyone but I could be as social (or not) as I wanted before/after.
I love paddle sports for the quiet/solitude on the water. I’d be mostly on a lake in a local park when on my own, so I’m not worried about safety for canoeing/kayaking/SUP once I got the hang of it.4 -

It has been sunny for the last couple of weeks and for the first time in years I've felt comfortable in short sleeves.20

Got to talking with another lady while doing my cool off walk after running at the park today. She's quite heavy and just started c25k and thanked me for being friendly to her because she said she felt intimidated getting out there and running in front of fit people like me. Last year about this time I was her. Both gratified and a little sad to be one of the intimidatingly fit people now!28

Had to get lunch from the place next door to my work today because I didn't have time for an actual lunch break. The chicken panini I love from there comes with the BEST french fries, but I subbed them for a salad with balsamic vinaigrette. They gave me fries by accident... and I THREW THEM IN THE TRASH!!28

Recently went clothes shopping. All the clothes I took in to try on were WAY too big! I ended up going down two sizes.20

We paddle the dragon boat two evenings a week. One evening is strictly recreational with people who enjoy paddling and socializing with lots of chatter and laughing in the boat. The other evening is more competitive; not much talking other than the coach, and we work hard. I enjoy both nights so go out twice a week. Others only go out once a week on whichever evening they gravitate towards. I know which evening you'd like best10 -

I'm a rower and I prefer sweeps to sculling b/c of the "social" aspect. We don't chatter when we're on the water and rowing, but there's definitely a sense of shared effort and focus from working together. And there's plenty of time to chat before and after!

The SUP gatherings I have been to are very social. Lots of paddling, often at a good pace with little or no interaction, but sometimes leisurely while chatting.1

I can slip out of my "at goal shorts" without unbuttoning them if I loosen the belt. It's another good news and bad; I need to stop losing. I never thought I would have this problem.16

I saw someone comment about their muscular armpits on here awhile back and kinda went "weird, but ok". WELL guess who's now the proud owner of her very own muscular armpits33

Just had my birthday and rocked the trails mountain biking for 6+ hours! Then realized after looking in the mirror that I'm in my mid-40's and I look so good naked. (And not just good for middle-age. Good for ANY age.) I have all kinds of definition going on...and I'm stronger than ever. I'm so glad that aging has been easy so far. All I hear is people (even ones far younger than me) complaining about getting older and falling apart. At least for me, it seems that fitness is the key to aging well. I won't stay young forever, but I CAN endeavor to be the best version of me at every age! It will be interesting (and exciting) to see what the future holds...
ETA: As a bonus, I met a 70 year old woman out biking on the trails and she was amazing. I never would have guessed her age. People like her give me hope!32 -

It was cold and rainy today, so I grabbed a leather jacket that I found while thrifting several years ago -- it's a medium and I've not even been able to get it over my arms the last few times I tried it. It now fits!! snug over the boobs but does up just fine, and it's not so tight that anyone is going to point and laugh.
Am down 31.5 pounds from my starting weight on MFP, and down about 40 from my actual high weight, just after Xmas. Still lots of ways to go, but it's nice to be moving into 'normal' sized clothes.22
