Trying to Gain Weight on Stimulants

Hello! I'm a little new here and I'm seeking some advice. I have ADHD and I have been prescribed Methylphenidate to lessen the symptoms. Unfortunately it suppresses my appetite and it's taking a toll on my body. Are there any foods or techniques that can help me gain weight despite this? I'm 5'3" and 94 lbs (goal weight is 110). I'm looking to gain both muscle AND fat.

    1) Will you be logging your food intake here in MFP? If so, set MFP to GAIN .5/lb per week.

    2) Consuming higher calorie dense foods will help you. There is a list of foods in this link.

    Are you a hard gainer

    3) Strength training will help you build muscle. At your current weight getting about a min protein of about 80-90 grams would be ideal for building muscle, for a lot of people protein makes them feel fuller so it might help you to consume protein shakes if getting it through food alone will be an issue.

Can you try to time your eating around the meds - i.e. eat in the morning before or just after taking, late afternoon when they are wearing off and later in the evening? That plus calorie dense foods helped my son.

This is what I would do-
Google a list of low volume high calorie foods. Take that list to the store and give some a try.
Example- peanut butter. If you can manage to eat a spoonful every hour 10 times per day , you will roughly add on 1000 calories per day. ( You can use a scale if you'd like) It's what I do When I don't feel like eating or am sick.
Also I get the mass gainer protein powder. It's higher calorie and tastes good.

Find some higher calorie foods like that and give it a try.

I like 100proofs idea. Get a weight gainer at vitamin shop or gnc. I like Mass Gainer by Optimum Nitrition. During a scoop before bed.
