BAH!! The landlord wants to inspect our home, so we scheduled them at 11:15 am. It is now 3:30 pm and no one has come and no one in the office has any idea when they will arrive. So I have not been able to go for a run despite having taken the day off from work for this stupid inspection.

The lease gives them until 5 pm to arrive. At this point, I might hold them to the letter of that agreement and if they show up at 5:01, tell them to go away and try again in 7 days as per the lease.

I mean it is one thing to be running late. It is another to not communicate at all or try to offer updated times. A phone call or text would go a long way. Grrr.

@megamoose - you are having an awesome month! Great job on being consistent and getting the miles in! On sweating - I also sweat SO much! I now wear a headband under my hat on my forehead to keep the sweat from running so much in my eyes. I don't remember who posted it but I got the Gymbands and they work great as does one of my old Buffs sort of folded up.

I keep meaning to look into getting some sweatbands - I'll check those out!

@Scott6255 - I am pretty sure @girlinahat is in the UK. If she doesn't respond here you might PM her and see if she is running it or anywhere nearby.

Thank you very much! I'll do that.

Yes! I got both a Gutr and a Halo a couple weeks ago. Both work good. Gutr seems to work best at keep sweat from dripping into eyes, but I find it a little uncomfortable. Halo is more comfortable, but I find I have to wipe my brow just once or twice during a run. But all in all, I recommend either.

Last run of the month this morning and it was really pleasant - 2.43 miles for a grand total of 38.56 miles in May! My past record for most miles in a month was 16 last November, so I really blew that away. PLUS! I signed up for my second ever race, which will actually be my first ever race run, just my second race registered for. I've been thinking I wanted to try running a 5k sooner than the Twin Cities Marathon in October, but was getting overwhelmed by all the options for 5ks. So I went with the nice, established, 4th of July Red, White, and Boom! 5k. Good times.

    5/30- 2 mile run
    5/29- 2 mile run
    5/13- 0.5 mile walk/hike

    4.5 of 10 mile goal

Didn’t make my goal this month but at least I started running again! Next month will be much better.

@5BeautifulDays Yes, pump and CGM are supposed to stay out of the AIT / milimeter wave scanner / body scanner / TSA booth. I use Medtronic and they are very clear about this. Dexcom also says not to wear their CGM's through the AIT.

Wow. That's good to know. It's already hard enough to travel with my kid...it makes me sad and angry that he has one more thing that will make it difficult. :(

1 mile on the treadmill before lifting weights. Not even a good 1 mile run. I'm starting to feel a pain at the bottom of my right calf. I just hope whatever it is doesn't affect the Sat. race.

Will see about a final treadmill run tomorrow and maybe I can still make my goal after all.

So if I run 10.1 miles on Thursday, I'll have a 200 mile month. Hmmm, is that crazy or an opportunity?

@Teresa502 - I love Costa Rica!! We ran through the jungle there on service roads and saw so many awesome birds (toucans), monkeys, butterflies and frogs! You are awesome hiking up that volcano!

Procrastinated going out today because, well, because I can and it is staying cool enough right now to not be an issue. Soon (like this weekend) that won't be the case though! Once I got out the run was great but I am realizing I cannot wear my Saucony Kinvaras any longer - they hurt my feet, make my toes fall asleep, have rubbed a painful callus on my little toe and the top of my foot is still sore hours after running :( I kept stopping and trying to readjust the laces (the Nathan stretchy ones) so that they weren't so tight but didn't feel like my heel/foot were going to step out of them. Maybe if I found them in a wide it would be better IDK...

So does anyone have a good remedy for getting rid of a callus? I have been wearing a bandaid over it or moleskin and putting lotion or coconut oil on it hoping it will eventually go away.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a pace run - probably won't get 7 miles in to get to 100 but I am way over my goal for the month already.

    Yes.

Not crazy, IMO, but then again I never claimed sanity :)

There are degrees of crazy. This is slightly crazy. Trying to do the 10.1 miles in a costume is a bit more crazy, and the degree changes based on the particular costume.

@cburke8909 Do you have an old Halloween costume of a prisoner? Can you run this near a prison or jail? How many degrees of crazy are you willing to go?

Oh, I like this idea. Make sure someone gets it on video for prosperity and all that.

Cooled off a little from the last few days and there was a slight breeze so tonight’s run was more speedier and felt good.

    5/23 - 5 miles
    5/25 - 4 miles walk
    5/26 - 6.5 miles
    5/27 - 3 miles
    5/28 - 3.5 miles
    5/29 - rest
    5/30 - 3.5 miles

    Total 55 miles run/70.5 goal

Didn't make my goal again this month. Ah well.

Headed out early so it wasn't hot yet, but the sun was quite brutal. Felt a bit like being put on a grill. The form fixing training sessions must be working though, was about 30 seconds faster each km at the same effort level as last month on the same course.

    Upcoming races:
    20181027 Mogan Ultra 30k

I was having a similar problem with several different pairs of shoes - toes falling asleep (even hours after taking them off!), top of foot pain etc, but re-lacing them completely fixed the problem. This is what I did:yr1rowxv8f9h.jpg
I can't remember where I found it, but I had read an entire article somewhere online with different ways to lace your running shoes, depending on the problem you are having. With what I've got, the bottom of the shoe now has more room, but I can still pull the top part tight enough to not feel like I'm running right out of them.

Thanks for the response @girlinahat. Those are some amazing pictures.
As are your pics @ROBOTFOOD. I can't even imagine snow on the ground in (almost) June anywhere in the US.
I'm going to try to run with a backpack on Saturday. Don't think I am going to like all the extra weight and sloshing, but this will be the only way to get enough water on a long run in the Texas heat and humidity.
Determined not to lose another 8 lbs. of sweat this weekend.

I have a shoe question if anyone has answers. My Saucony Guide 10s are coming to the end of their useful lives and I need a new shoe. I have to say that I loved my Guide 8s...and liked my Guide 9s...and I've tolerated the 10s. I like them better the more I run in them, but they just aren't as good as the first couple of pairs. To be fair, it may be because I noticed the difference between my awful old shoes and the first good running shoes and now everything is just ok by comparison. Anyway, I see that there are Guide ISOs available, or I could buy another pair of 10s...or I could buy a different shoe entirely. Any thoughts? The only other brand I've been ok with are Brooks. I have a pair of Cascadia trail shoes I love. My daughter likes Mizuno, but I've not tried them on myself. I have a foot that is shaped like a fish...wider in the front, narrow in back and flat as a pancake.

    Thoughts?
