I am coming off a diet break that was... rough. Let's just say I am not ready for maintenance. But I'm back at eating at a deficit. Two days in and I am feeling a lot better.23

Yesterday I went to the mall to try on pants at EB, because my size 40 khakis have gotten way too loose (10 months and 81 lbs ago I wore size 44). Tried on size 38, still loose. So tried size 36, AND THEY FIT! I haven't fit in size 36 pants since jr high!! Totally skipped a size.37

I'm not sure if this is really a NSV but it feels like it should be so I'm going with it I took yesterday off from logging because it was crazy busy and stressful. I needed to go grocery shopping and hadn't pre-logged like usual. We picked up Chinese and I got beef/broccoli but I only ate maybe half of it... it just wasn't that great and I listened to my body and stopped.
Feeling unsatisfied (though full) from dinner, I would have binged the entire night if this was a year ago. Instead, while I DID get out the Haagen Daz Dulce de Leche, I only had a few bites and was done. It felt nice to be able to put it away knowing that it would be there another day rather than eating the entire thing in one sitting.34 -

That’s a real NSV! You’re being mindful about your eating and have changed your behavior from a year ago. That awesome! Thanks for sharing.

It just hit me I had a big NSV on Friday I completely overlooked! I eat lunch with my coworkers almost every day. On Friday, one of them said “We’re going to Whataburger,” to which I replied, “Have fun!” (For those not familiar, it’s a fast-food chain based out of Texas.)
I ate lunch (of grilled chicken and steamed veggies) by myself, which isn’t the most fun, but I would never have passed up Whataburger so quickly in the past. I used to go there for dinner a couple times a week, and sometimes on weekends, I’d eat there twice in the same day.
Also, just took all-over measurements, and I’ve lost 63.75 inches from my body!41 -
When I was a kid, my mom was skinny and gorgeous and everyone raved about her being so beautiful. I was always chubby and looked a lot more like my dad, which I was truly okay with.
But I have to admit, the past 2 years I've had a bunch of relatives say "omg you look so much like your mom" and just this week I saw some photos of myself and was shocked at my own resemblance to my mom when she was in her thirties. I'll never be her doppelganger which is totally ok, I do like a few things I inherited from my dad like broader shoulders and a horsey smile. But it was cool to finally "see" what others have seen for a few years now.35 -
I think I've recomped! My thighs haven't changed but my pants are looser on the waist. Upper body is more defined, and I bought some size small tops, including a crop top, yesterday. Plus Libra predicted I could hit the 120s by the end of the year at my current rate. Definitely looking forward to it and focusing.17

Today I trained for the Nijmegen Vierdaagse that's in six weeks. I went on a 30 km walk today in the blazin' heat, ran out of water and snacks, and just had an all around rough session. BUT as tempted as I was, I didn't jump on the DB train and shortcut my way home!! I was determined to finish and I sure did!! Quite proud that I powered through!17

Almost to my first running goal of 10 minute/mile. Just 23 seconds off!
Also my belt that I went down a notch in a week or so ago is at the last hole and I will soon need to buy a new one as it is getting a little baggy again (yay for tummy lose but nay for having to spend money lol)20 -

Logged for 500 days in a row. While I am at a plateau for the last two months (a week-long vacation in Mexico in April, Mother's day, Memorial day weekend, among other excuses), I am still amazed at how far I've come in those 500 days - 80 lb lost, sizes 10/M from 20W/3X, consistent almost daily exercise (Zumba and weight training, weekly hiking). My future plans include ambitious/strenuous physical activities that I wouldn't have dreamed of 1.5 years ago.. Life is good29

This weekend was the worst. Like, The Worst (capitals and bolding necessary). But I never once even considered going off plan. I just keep thinking that it's about the only thing I have control of, so I can't lose that.34

Yesterday I almost passed out on my way home (we’re riding an unusual heat wave here), so I opened a box of chocolate to get immediate sugar. Had two pieces then, started to feel better, got my proper dinner, and instead of devouring the rest of that open box, I only had one for dessert.29

I had read here recently about someone who went on a cruise. She opted to use the stairs only and skip the elevators on the ship.
I just spent five days in a hotel at a beer judging competition. I decided to use the same strategy. A third floor room meant plenty of stairs. I also opted to walk almost everywhere for the five days. Walked at least 12 miles.33 -

I got checked out and an overly friendly smile from a woman I would consider way out of my league! She didn't have a labrador and i'm pretty sure I didnt have tissue paper stuck to my shoe or toothpaste all over my top.30

I just moved to a new city and there are a few new people in my life. One of them is very much a gym guy (by which I mean his routine is 2 hours a day/5 days a week there, talks about the gym a lot, makes a lot of trips to GNC, etc.) and asked me if I've ever tried to work out. Not because I look the type—nobody would ever make that mistake, believe me—but I THINK just because I was able to keep up in conversations about nutrition optimization. So I answered him that no, I've never tried to work out, and he replied "That's ok, you don't need it; you're not too big or too small."
In fact I really do need to incorporate more challenging exercise into my routine and strength training in particular. And it's not exactly like he was heaping praise on me or anything, but I think the NSV is that I was judged 'good enough' by someone who takes that stuff seriously (and has the upside-down-triangle-shaped torso to show for it). I haven't been 'good enough' in over 20 years. Come to think of it this guy is 25, so I haven't been 'good enough' in almost his whole life. *Kitten*.25 -

Hahahaha welcome back. Speaking from experience it's the getting back to deficit after a break that's the killer so you've done well despite what came before. And I most definitely feel you on not being ready for maintenance6 -

Thank you! It was actually my 3rd diet break, so I should know better – I just went insane or something. I do think I learned some things for next time, though, so it was worth it!14 -
Today during my 1 mile run I only stopped 3 times to catch my breath. Compared to a week ago I stopped like a million times. I'm happy with my progress.29

I'm very muscular in general (I blame/thank my Russian and Icelandic genes for that) and I've worked throughout this process to make sure that I keep as much muscle mass as possible through regular exercise and lifting. Well! I'm starting to see some muscle definition in my arms where it's never been apparent before! I guess thats where that last few pounds have come off from13

Rocked my size 12's for the first time out of the house in over a year!
I've hit all my NSV goals I set... I need new ones!
New goal ideas:
Single digit pants size
Do 10 real push-ups
Do 2 pull-ups (completely unassisted)
Jog a 5k
Do a hand stand without a wall
I am currently working on the middle 3.

My pants kept falling down today, so I had to make an emergency trip to the store and get a belt. Most of my pants are size 10, but I'm a size 8, really. I think I need a few more pairs of those.12

Currently off blood pressure medication for the first time since I was 19, that's 12 years straight, and now saving $57/ month!! Something the doctor said would likely not happen.49
