I can finally do a standard bodyweight squat! No more assisted squats! I am so excited!!!29
-
I went through an assessment yesterday to determine what my max weights are:
Bench Press: 105 lb
Squat: 185 lb
Dead Lift: 205 lb
I am very impressed with my strength And looking forward to see what new new PR will be in a couple of months of consistent weight training...
Made another assessment today for 1 RPM:
Bench Press: 105 lb -> 110 lb
Squat: 185 lb -> 215 lb
Dead Lift: 205 lb -> 220 lb
Getting a little stronger if not lighter

LOL.... So basically you can wear them as a romper now (the horrible picture of the Borat Mankini comes to mind). My advice as I went through the same thing, twice now: if you're still losing, buy the cheapo multi-pack of granny pannies in your current size. No sense in spending a lot on something you're just going to shrink out of. [/quote]
Thanks for the tip! I was worried this could be costly6 -
My wife wanted to order swim trunks for me online. I told her to get 36-38 size.
When they came in she said, “We’ll have to return these and pick some swim trunks up at Target -they look too small.”
Well...
She just hasn’t adjusted to the new me. The swim trunks fit perfectly.32 -
Did 10 hill intervals yesterday. With basically the same speed until the end.15

increased mental clarity due to reduced carbs and no sugar!!20

Sure thing. Hit the Dollar Store or similar for the cheapest ones you can find. Remember, you don't need them to last longer than when you shrink out of them.
While dropping sizes, try to be as frugal as possible. Uses clothing stores are great, and if you have friends that have lost or gained weight, I call it "closet shopping". You give them your old clothes, they give you thiers. My best friend had a baby about 9 months ago. She is about two sizes above me and slowly losing the weight.... She uses to be a size 4 at her smallest, so we've been swapping clothes as we shrink. I just gave her back all the size 12's and she gave me her size 8's. I also gave her a bunch of my old shirts as she's breastfeeding and needs shirts that fit that aren't her husband's.
Mid goal is frustrating when in comes to clothes, you need new stuff as the old stuff is too big, but you know you're going to just shrink out of anything that fits your mid-goal weight in a few months.12 -
tried a fast mile this morning (to see if I could beat a mate's time)
8:58
well happy with that even if the mate did it in 8:56 and had a lot more elevation than me. I wanted under 9mins and I got it!
No way on this earth I can maintain it for more than a mile as yet but when I consider this time last year I was doing C25K and was struggling to run for 5 mins.....tis definitely an NSV!30 -
I have lost nearly 20kg. With still another 15 or so to go, I had to go shopping for some "in between" clothes to see me through to my goal, because everything else is huge on me.
I am so unused to what size I am now compared to what I was, that I kept totally misjudging what would fit me - I'd grab an XL only to find I needed an L or even an M. I had to buy new bras and when I had a fitting I found I'd gone down 2 sizes in my back. I can go into most stores and buy "normal" clothes! Hooray.24 -

ETA - CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on here!
I just reached the 25 minute milestone too! Congrats23 -
A few nice ones...
- I can go at a much higher intensity on the elliptical than ever before.
- I bounced back from my vacation in only 2 weeks! I find I really miss my normal routine while I am on vacation...
- My waist is now below 30"!31 -
I work at a high school, and found out they were doing a special treat for us Instructioanl Assistants at our last meeting of the school year. So instead of just not having the treats, I planned ahead and skipped breakfast and lunch (still had my coffee which was a mistake, with no solids to help soak it up, it went right through me, lol). And when it came time for the meeting, I only had one small slice of cheesecake, a small brownie, a small cookie, a croissant, and a few meatballs.
My NSV was I was able to enjoy myself and exercise portion control when it came to indulging in treats.31 -
I was accused of steroids for the first time in a long time! People are finally noticing the gains!
FYI I don’t use steroids28 -
I just inhaled two doughnuts. The NSV is that I actually logged them, and with a bit of tweaking throughout the day, I should be able to make them fit. Maintenance calories, at least, for sure.
ETA: They were delicious.37 -
Today marks the 500th day of logging my meals!!
And I've been maintaining since January!
It's a good day!50 -

While talking to one of the staff members at my gym (The Edge) in Connecticut, I mentioned that I lost 60 lbs by going to their gym 3 times a week and love their Zumba class. She was so proud of me that she got me a new "free" gym t-shirt as a gift. That just made me so happy.31

A four minute low plank. I've been adding a few seconds each time I do them (three times a week) instead of to failure. My new goal is five minutes; after that, I plan to hold one to failure because I'm genuinely curious.32

No more dealing with knee and back pain! I can sit down and get up without grunting. I can go up the stairs easily. Heck, the stairs have become my warm up! Seriously!!28

Went on a little run earlier with my son. We decided to try a more challenging route, so decided to run to the next village. Now, this is just four miles but take a look at what we took on:
See the little blob at the top of the hill? In the middle of the light bit? That was a man with his bike, about two-thirds of the way up the hill. He went past us on his bike but had to get off about half way up. I took great satisfaction in the knowledge that I can cycle right to the top of this hill!
I still cannot believe that I managed to run up all of the hills on this route (and there were many, these were just two of the more impressive ones). I still cannot get over the fact that I'm running at all, let alone up hills.
I'm now itching to try another activity. I've been lingering on this site for almost three years. At the beginning, I started walking. The next year, I started cycling and then strength training. The year after, running. Still doing all four but want to try something else. My son enjoys paddlesports so I may have to try kayaking. Or maybe rowing. But something.
The weather tried to ruin my fun today as it rained for several hours this afternoon, so we didn't get out to run until quite late. By the time we'd walked the four miles back home, it was getting dark. I've been out on my bike every day for a long streak and it looked as though today, my streak would end. I decided not to let the dark beat me so shot out for a very short bike ride. Two miles and eight minutes later, I had my bike ride in for the day42 -
@Madwife2009 Beautiful! And inspiring.
I've enjoyed your progressive journey over the past 2 years. You inspired me to start running last fall and I just completed my first 10k this week. You will probably enjoy paddling. I have kayaked and canoed over the years and just started Stand Up Paddle Boarding this year. Good luck with whatever you chose to take on.14 -
I paddled my SUP 8 miles this afternoon.24

We’re having a potluck at work tomorrow, and I decided to make a couple summer salads. I was almost done when my back started hurting, which is typical when I spend time in the kitchen. But I realized I’d been standing for more than three hours straight between grocery shopping for the ingredients, bringing in and putting away groceries, doing dishes before and after and the actual food prep. This may seem small to some, but when I started this journey I was gasping for breath sitting up in bed. It’s nice to do the everyday stuff so easily!50

Somebody noticed. I have only lost about 10 lbs this go round so far, but i am over 20 lbs down from my highest weight. I saw the optometrist, and her assistant commented that i have lost weight and complimented me.32

Testing the camera on a new phone and realising I have cheekbones you could cut yourself on

Walked past free display in the supermarket, sweets, cupcakes and other goodies, was tempted but resisted hubby was impressed.22

Today I am wearing jeans I haven't been able to fit into in 2 years. :-)38

My 9 year old lifted me up off my feet... we both think this is great lol!
We also do monthly challenges together, like squats or the ab challenge one right now. I’ve never had so much motivation to do something and would probably have slacked if he wasn’t doing it with me but I have to show him how to follow through, even if I don’t feel like it! Each month I see if he wants to take a break but he loves it, we are on month 5.29 -

We've missed you! I'd also like to try rowing, but kayaking, canoeing, and dragon boating are all great activities too. Particularly since you really enjoy and appreciate being outside. Such a nice way to spend a summer evening. Plus getting a workout too5 -
