I've been in a funk this week. I think I can attribute it to post-race depression. (And the weather. It was snowing yesterday ) My whole life for 4 months has been half marathon training, and now it's over! I'm happy with how I did, but was feeling a bit aimless.
So my NSV is that I am taking steps to work on enjoying the process, especially as I tiptoe my way into maintenance. I increased my calories and shifted my attention on lifting now that I'm not running as much. And spring means that I'll be biking or running to work most days, which always makes me happy.
Oh and yes of course I have another race coming up I am running the last leg in a marathon relay on Memorial Day. It's only 5 miles, but I want to make my team proud as I run through that finish line.32 -
Spent the morning thrift shop clothing shopping with a girlfriend. I keep a list of things that I am looking for and, today, was able to find most of the things on my list (NSV #1) .....in the smallest sizes I've worn for a long time (NSV # 2)!
My friend has also lost some weight and she was delighted to find a few things for herself (NSV # 3)!
After all that shopping, we enjoyed lunch together - each having a small, and more than satisfying, order of finn pancakes, rather than the large order I would have had a couple of years ago (NSV # 4)!
Fabulous day for both of us!21 -
Todays NSVs:
1 - I walked a 5k today, with my wife (and best friend, support buddy, etc), in the rain even, and we didn't stop once. Finished closer to the front than to the back, too. It was the American Heart Association Heart Walk, and used to be that I'd see the weather forecast of rain as an excuse to stay home, but not an option today.
2 - I had given my t-shirt size to the team leader as an XL, because apparently I still am unsure that I really have gone down in size that much (used to wear a 2X t-shirt), but when we checked in at the tent, they were out of XL, so took a Large... And it FIT!... OVER a hoodie!!45 -
Indulged at my niece's bridal shower (brunch) - so many yummy foods. Knew I ate my allowance there, Didn't even feel the hunger for a lunch or Supper. In the past would have eaten lunch and dinner for sure, whether hungry or not.26

Well another shopping NSV. I enjoy walking inside the mall when it’s cold outside to get my steps. It wasn’t my plan to buy anything but I couldn’t resist. I don’t buy rompers because I’m convinced they look awful on me and my pear shape but I like the look for the summer. Well I have 2 NSVs. I bought my first well fitted romper in red and it was inexpensive. I saw one of those romper maxi skirt dress in the Juniors section in size 9. I was just curious if it will fit since it didnot have a stretchy fabric like I typically need because of my wide hips. Also I’m a size 8 stretchy curvy pants/jeans in women/misses sizes. I avoid the junior section for any shorts or pants because of the narrow slimmer in the hips design. To my surprise the size 9 actually fit! I couldn’t believe it. I could walk comfortably in it. I look forward to wearing it on vacation or beach or maybe a bbq party.18

Found an amazing Banana Republic maxi dress that fits perfectly at a nearby consignment shop. The dress is a size small.24

I’m cleaning out my closets to get rid of too big clothes and find smaller clothes that fit (and make way for even smaller new clothes!). Today, I found the T-shirt I wore in my first driver’s license photo, so junior year of high school. And it wasn’t as baggy as it was back then, but it wasn’t tight either. Considering my 20-year reunion is only a couple years away, I’m pretty stoked.24

I went through an assessment yesterday to determine what my max weights are:
Bench Press: 105 lb
Squat: 185 lb
Dead Lift: 205 lb
I am very impressed with my strength And looking forward to see what new new PR will be in a couple of months of consistent weight training...20 -
Signed up for a 12km walk in mid September, and started planning my training to get me through the next 146 days until "race" day.16

I logged my food without fail for 365 days.52

All of my NSVs lately are clothes related, lol.
NSV #1 - Put on a pair of slacks today that I haven't worn since the fall - I was really stretching the limits of how strong the seams were then. They were SUPER tight then. And I believe that I likely didn't fit into them at all come December, but I don't know because I wouldn't put them on, haha. TODAY - they fit beautifully and are loose!
NSV#2 - A tunic top that I adore did not fit me at all in the fall. It wouldn't go over my hips - it was so depressing. TODAY - It not only fits over my hips, but it hangs over them! Sooooooooo happy!
NSV#3 - OK, a non-clothes NSV. I was able to use heavier weights in my strength training workout yesterday. I had been using 3lb/5lbs dumbells, and yesterday, I was able to do 5s/8s! Soooooo excited!24 -
Thrift store victory - 4 tops found for $7.47 so much more selection not being in the plus size.
70 plus miles on the bike this weekend. Was so nice to be able to get out three days in a row after our fickle Iowa weather this "Spring".26 -
I just had to buy almost an entire new wardrobe (my poor bank account, though). Thankfully, I had a few pieces that are either free size skirts, or tops that look fine being loose, etc. But when my smallest jeans were sliding off my hips and my size had stayed steady at a point I'm happy with for a few months, I knew it was time to finally invest in some new clothes.24
-
another belt hole...26

A sports bra that was a favourite before my first pregnancy (7 years ago) fits again. I actually weigh more than I did *after* my first, but I couldn't even get it on back then. I'm a lot more fit now than I was back then.24

This is a weird NSV for me--- I have always loved shopping, but 131 pounds ago I would buy something just because it fit, not necessarily because I liked it a lot. I now have to learn that just because it fits doesn't mean I should buy it, because EVERYTHING fits!

A shirt I bought that hubs shrunk in the wash actually fit again this morning.31
-
After a month of sitting around eating whatever I wanted, I have followed my plan for 3 whole days. It may not seem like much, but it is a pretty big win to me.65
-
Saturday I did 27 pull-ups over 5 sets: one of those sets was a set of 7. Both are PRs for me32

My last NSV post was about my tight skirt that is giving a little room and I was afraid that it will go away like mist. Poof! The same skirt now spins around me when I walk and I'm thinking, 'this skirt must've stretched cause I've washed it. Maybe this is another skirt I put on by mistake. Maybe this skirt wasn't as tight as I thought it was...' I still think somebody/something is going to snatch my progress away, like that State Farm commercial where the fisherman says, "I got you a dollar" then he pulls it away.25

I love this one extra! I am down by the same amount and have the same feeling about this. I used to find a flattering top that fit and disguised my worst areas and I'd buy it in six colors. It's a nice habit to break when you know that there are dozens of other tops around the corner that also fit & flatter. Nice!

I did my Strong Curves workout today! Kinda been slacking on those the last week and a half, but I'm happy now to be back on track!18
-
Went out for a walk yesterday. Went exploring and found a new route that follows the railroad tracks and then passes through a golf course. Quiet - no traffic - a couple of challenging hills - and I walked seven miles. Going back there next week!26

Two today:
Had a particularly sedentary day at work with back to back meetings. When I had a break for a few minutes, my first thought was: how can I move more? So, I walked up and down the one flight of stairs in my building.
Tonight after dinner I had a treat: fiber one bran cereal. I don't have cereal much, as it's usually not filling for me, but I've been trying to increase my fiber intake, so decided to try bran cereal. It totally felt like a splurge treat. Can't explain it. I'm someone who could easily put away 1000 calories of chips when I wasn't even hungry, and now I am totally satisfied and thrilled with 130 calories of bran cereal with almond milk.27 -
my dad purchased a kimono style dress for me on a family trip during my high school days, about a decade ago. It didn't really fit then. It was tight. Two years ago, I couldn't even squeeze into the thing. Today, it zipped up and fits, is loose in some parts..just need to keep working on my gut. It was a nice feeling to finally fit in that dress.36

I stopped taking the elevator at work. And in the past 20 days (since I've been back on MFP), my measuring cups and food scale have gotten more use than ever!25

Totally not weird. I do the same thing. In fact, I went shopping tonight, as I haven’t bought any new shirts since I started losing. I’m still wearing my 4Xs, and tonight I brought home mostly 2Xs and a 1X! Holy kitten!
But ... I don’t *love* the 2Xs (four of the same shirt, different colors, *sigh*), and immediately thought about returning most, maybe all of them as I was driving home.15 -
I completed a 50k (33.3 mile) endurance trail race!
...and not a bad time either for the course and conditions.
Not bad for someone who weighed nearly 300 pounds 3 years ago.67
