I had a similar thing a few days ago when taking a six-pint bottle of milk out of the fridge - I used what I thought was my "usual" amount of strength and the bottle went flying. My son looked at me and wondered what the heck I was doing, until I explained what had happened . . . Then he laughed and said that I'd be able to pick him up soon (no chance, he's bigger than me).17 -
My favourite jeans aren't as tight!19

After losing 4 kg only, I see myself a bit thinner in the mirror and it feels so good mostly on the legs and belly, so I'm wearing a tight skirt tonight19

I can run again28

Mate hugged me in greeting yesterday, stepped back and said 'where have you gone?!'
felt good!
and I guilted him into starting gym again (he wanted to anyway), but he saw the teeny tiny definition on my biceps and got bit jealous, he had massive definition a few months ago!16 -
I got my A1C down to 5.3!!! That's a non-diabetic number, from a woman who has been as high as 8.4. Yes, I still take the Metformin for blood sugar, but I've had to cut back because I'm starting to get blood sugar lows. Huh - I guess the doctors were right all along - Eat better, lose weight, exercise consistently and I can beat diabetes. Whooda thunk it?44

The doctors?
But I'm in a similar boat... my LDL was through the roof... just losing weight helped get it down to levels where the doctor's comment was "we'll see how it goes with continued weight loss before we do anything with medications". If I can get either that one down some more or the HDL up to correct the ratio between the two (which is what's actually causing her worry currently), then she'll be more than happy.13 -
I need to start gathering some smaller "goal" pants. because as of yesterday I officially fit into my smallest pair of jeans (size 12) I wouldn't wear them in public quite yet butttt give me a week or two.
I also started doing some strength training mostly every day (rotating muscle groups and such) about 4 weeks ago and since that time I feel like people have reallyyyyyy started to notice that I'm losing weight... which funnily enough I haven't really lost an weight since I started. It must just be helping everything tighten up!19 -
Bit of a weird victory, but my neck looks fantastic now, and I'm getting more definition in my shoulders! And now I look really good in those ribbon chokers that are in style now.16

I got a haircut Saturday, 7" of hair gone! I consider it a NSV because when I started gaining weight I kept my hair long because I thought it made my face look thinner and it was easier to hide behind. Now that I'm down 50 lbs I don't feel the need to hide behind tons of hair42

I'm a walker, usually 5-7 per day, plus whatever I walk doing my daily chores. Yesterday I went to the high school track to walk and for some unknown reason, decided to jog for half a lap just to see how it felt. It felt pretty good, so then I tried a full lap which turned into a lap and a half. I finished off with walking the rest because I have a bad knee and bad back and want to see how they feel the day after.
This morning I feel good, no knee or back.issues, but do have a tightness on my shins which I think will walk out once I get moving around today.
I haven't jogged since High School, over 40 years ago which proved that it is never too late to get fit. I may just try C25k!44 -
Today, my bf told me I was getting my waist back, and he noticed more definition between my butt and thighs. Also insisting I buy smaller shirts. According to him, bagging clothes on me is unattractive and he wants me to stop flashing everyone when I bend over. Guess I need to give in and buy smaller shirts.17

Since I started logging again everyday, I've been taking note of the nutritional content of my food as well as the calorie content. I've noticed that I'm consistently not getting enough calcium, iron, and potassium and am now trying to find ways to change that. That means that I've begun focusing more on how I can get more healthy nutrients into my body than on how I can cut out empty calories to slim down, though that is also an important goal. It's a subtle change, but it makes all the difference in terms of motivation. I'll take a self-care approach over a self-deprivation mindset any day!28

Thereshegoesagain, when I read through all 490 pages of these NSVs, every time I saw your picture I was happy because you are so inspiring, and my age (just 40 years post high school). I am just beginning my weight-loss journey and have a long, long way to go. 2 weeks ago I decided to try C25k, and I got through the first week just fine. However, I decided to wait about 20 lbs. to repeat and continue because I will feel more comfortable knee-wise. But if you can run 1.5 laps around the track, you will find week one a total piece of cake!!! It was fairly easy for me, and I couldn't make it once around at this point. I'll bet you would enjoy it. I look forward to getting back to it in a few weeks.

Way to go!! I am doing C25k now and love it! If your shins ache and you believe it may be shin splints, I would watch a YouTube video on proper running form. I had an issue with shin splints when I started and realized I was landing on the wrong part of my foot while jogging. Changed my form and haven't had an issue since!

Started a 30 day squat challenge in addition to my gym visits This time last year didn't do any exercise at all14

I ate & logged half a slice of b-day cake yesterday.... and didn't go shove some more in my face at night when everybody was sleeping like I would have done in the past LOL32

My husband asked me what I've been doing to perk up my booty because he noticed a change!20

It's been a couple weeks since I checked in on this thread, so my NSV is a week old. Two years ago, I tried doing the c25k program and made it 4 weeks before letting my pregnancy become my excuse to quit. Well, last Monday, our temperature got up to high 30s/low 40s, and it was just beautiful out! I got my mom to come watch my son and I went for a run. Started week 1, day 1, and let me tell you, that was so much easier with 30 pounds less!! I was actually able to run further during the 60 second times than ever before!!22

I recently set a new 5K PR on a training run. This past Sunday I ran my first competitive race of the year and was hoping to beat my best by 10-15 seconds. I didn't beat it... I crushed it by almost 2 whole minutes.17
