Push up challenge - beginner

So, based on a recent thread, I suggested to do a push up challenge. I'm rubbish at them and think it would be great to try.
Here it is:
Pick a number of push ups to do every day for one week, and then double them each week for 4 weeks rolling. To keep track, I like other how other challenges post the progress and why not start on a Wednesday?

Ok so I will give it a try. I am going to say 5 for the first week, although I am not sure I can do 40 by the 4the week! Hopefully I will show improvement.1

omg i was just telling my boyfriend that i can’t even do 5 push-ups and he was like ‘yes you can!’ (i got down and tried. i can’t!) so I’m totally in! i will start with 4...can’t wait to show him 32 in a row next month...hopefully...2

Perfect timing. I am guessing this doesn't have to be consecutive pushups? Can we do our daily total with rests in between collapses lol.2

Hey @emmab0902 definitely do them however you can! I just thought it would be nice to be accountable, for me push ups are always exercises I leave out.
There are discussions around form and what's a proper push up. I've watched a couple of videos and try to replicate.

I'll join you all in on this, mostly because I need some sort of group to get me back in to doing stuff. May was a total write off in regards to exercise. Not sure about numbers, but I'll try for 8 for starters, I know I can do that many but whether I can double that each week is the question!

I will join. I have a Half Mudder scheduled in October and currently have ZERO upper body strength. I will start with 4.

I went to a yoga class this morning and the instructor had us do these plank push up things. Since I did five, I get a meaningless extra credit bonus point for the day.

@RedneckDentist oh no I hope it's not a serious injury for you. I've got two rotor cuff tears so am always paranoid about making them worse! Hope you feel better soon.2

@emmab0902 thank you, its no worse than what ive had to deal with for a while now. it seems that i always have something hurting. hopefully it doesnt affect my ability to see this through.

08/06 4 on knees - it feels much better on my knees otherwise, I can't keep straight, either my bum sticks up or hangs down, still feels hard enough on my knees1 -
