Went on a little run earlier with my son. We decided to try a more challenging route, so decided to run to the next village. Now, this is just four miles but take a look at what we took on:
See the little blob at the top of the hill? In the middle of the light bit? That was a man with his bike, about two-thirds of the way up the hill. He went past us on his bike but had to get off about half way up. I took great satisfaction in the knowledge that I can cycle right to the top of this hill!
I still cannot believe that I managed to run up all of the hills on this route (and there were many, these were just two of the more impressive ones). I still cannot get over the fact that I'm running at all, let alone up hills.
I'm now itching to try another activity. I've been lingering on this site for almost three years. At the beginning, I started walking. The next year, I started cycling and then strength training. The year after, running. Still doing all four but want to try something else. My son enjoys paddlesports so I may have to try kayaking. Or maybe rowing. But something.
The weather tried to ruin my fun today as it rained for several hours this afternoon, so we didn't get out to run until quite late. By the time we'd walked the four miles back home, it was getting dark. I've been out on my bike every day for a long streak and it looked as though today, my streak would end. I decided not to let the dark beat me so shot out for a very short bike ride. Two miles and eight minutes later, I had my bike ride in for the day42 -
@Madwife2009 Beautiful! And inspiring.
I've enjoyed your progressive journey over the past 2 years. You inspired me to start running last fall and I just completed my first 10k this week. You will probably enjoy paddling. I have kayaked and canoed over the years and just started Stand Up Paddle Boarding this year. Good luck with whatever you chose to take on.14 -
I paddled my SUP 8 miles this afternoon.24

We’re having a potluck at work tomorrow, and I decided to make a couple summer salads. I was almost done when my back started hurting, which is typical when I spend time in the kitchen. But I realized I’d been standing for more than three hours straight between grocery shopping for the ingredients, bringing in and putting away groceries, doing dishes before and after and the actual food prep. This may seem small to some, but when I started this journey I was gasping for breath sitting up in bed. It’s nice to do the everyday stuff so easily!50

Somebody noticed. I have only lost about 10 lbs this go round so far, but i am over 20 lbs down from my highest weight. I saw the optometrist, and her assistant commented that i have lost weight and complimented me.32

Testing the camera on a new phone and realising I have cheekbones you could cut yourself on

Walked past free display in the supermarket, sweets, cupcakes and other goodies, was tempted but resisted hubby was impressed.22

Today I am wearing jeans I haven't been able to fit into in 2 years. :-)38

My 9 year old lifted me up off my feet... we both think this is great lol!
We also do monthly challenges together, like squats or the ab challenge one right now. I’ve never had so much motivation to do something and would probably have slacked if he wasn’t doing it with me but I have to show him how to follow through, even if I don’t feel like it! Each month I see if he wants to take a break but he loves it, we are on month 5.29 -

We've missed you! I'd also like to try rowing, but kayaking, canoeing, and dragon boating are all great activities too. Particularly since you really enjoy and appreciate being outside. Such a nice way to spend a summer evening. Plus getting a workout too5 -
New goal ideas:
Single digit pants size
Do 10 real push-ups
Do 2 pull-ups (completely unassisted)
Jog a 5k
Do a hand stand without a wall
I am currently working on the middle 3.
Nice ideas! I LOVE the pull up one. I just started messing with that machine a week ago. Its so empowering!!!
Came up with some new goals:
Get into the 30's % range for BF% (currently 41.2%)
Rock size 10 jeans (Currently 12's)
Get to "Overweight BMI"... this one is kind of a scale victory and a NSV at the same time. (Currently 31.1)
Get my pull ups to 50lbs assistance (Currently doing 9 @ 95lbs, 6 @ 80lbs, and 3 @ 75lbs)
Its go time!

Managed a trip to the supermarket without any need for a 'treat' despite walking down the sweets and treats isle.
Walked out with nothing more than the peppers, strawberries, carrots and chicken breasts I went in for!
For me that huge!33 -

I can currently manage 1 pull-up with a 25lb assist. So I really want to lose 25lbs, so that I can do one. Just one, that would make my month!15 -
Fashion NSV. Victorias Secret is having it’s Semi-annual sale. I picked up some good bras but the real NSV, I tried some medium size lingerie on sale and ALL were big. The smaller sizes fit. This is a surprise since my go to size for decades for lingerie was medium. #Progress!25

I love this! You are creating wonderful memories together.9 -
I have gotten hungry for a healthy life style. I have started exercising
again.26 -
The batteries on my scale were literally dead this morning so I couldn’t do my weekly weigh in. It was measurement day as well anyway, and...
In three months, I have lost 5.0% from my waist.30 -

Missed me? I've been around, just in the background a little . . .
But, I had to pop by to announce that I am so excited - tomorrow my son and I are going to do this run AGAIN! I am really looking forward to it. I might push my son a little and make him run a little further this time. Not that I will tell him until we get there, of course. I do like a challenge
My children think that I am mad. They may be right.
My five year old went to Parkrun with us (my son and I) this morning. She got a new PB. Unsuprisingly, my time was much slower than usual. But it was worth it as there were loads of people along the final 100 yards, all shouting and screaming encouragement at her. She did so well, I was so proud of her. But, once we'd finished I felt as though I could do another lap (it's a two-lap course). Had I tried, I may well have failed but I would have liked to try. A little difficult when there is a small person to consider But maybe tomorrow, with my son, we will venture a little further than usual . . .
Am now up to 43 Parkruns. My son did his 39th today and my five year old did her 9th. She's also completed 35 junior parkruns (2km/1.2miles). And between us, we've volunteered 168 times (if you include my other two children and OH, it's 320 times). The only member of my family who has not done a Parkrun now is my teenage daughter. But she will . . . it's addictive. So addictive.22 -
