If you can't eat to your calorie goal

Or just don't want to....
I'll take 'em. I'll take 'em all.
Because, let me tell you, even trying to maintain on an average of 2400 calories a day, I could still eat more.
I did not lose my appetite along with the weight.

Right?! I have no problem eating all of my calories. A spoonful of PB will boost me up and over no problem6

Totally can't fathom the whole "I can't meet my 1200 calorie goal" thing... Also, I'm pretty sure you can cause that's kinda what landed you on MFP28
-
That wasn't the direction I thought this thread was going.
I'll fight you for them... I'd gladly eat more!5 -
lets face it, even bulking is like being on a restrictive diet where you have to stop eating at a certain point otherwise you are just gaining fat6

Yup! It could have been a helpful post but....nahhhhhhh.4 -

Yes! Every time I see this, I think "Yes, you can."6 -
Seeeeeeeeriously. Even when I'm eating solely high-volume, low-calorie foods, I can readily eat over not just my weight loss calories, but even my (pretty high) TDEE. It's how I got fat! When I was going through a rough time recently and lost my appetite it was so anomalous as to actually frighten me. I will never understand all these "I can suddenly barely manage 800 calories a day" posts.7

Haha I thought it was another "one of those" and I clicked in anyway - which says what about me??7

I've had an intestinal bug the last couple of weeks and only had 1 day <1200.0

3300 here today and I’ll be starving in the am1

Challenge accepted. Tomorrow is donut day at the office. It’s become a weekly battle of discipline and lack thereof, rationalizations, and sometimes quickened pulse from the sugar rush.
The only winner seems to be the bakery.2 -
It's been sooooo hot here that I am not as hungry as usual. I didn't hit 1200 today because it's like ten billion degrees. Normally I have no trouble.0

Is this the thread where I brag about hitting my calorie goal? Because I did today...excluding exercise cals which were minimal and I didn't eat back, I hit it dead on and used every last delicious calorie I had.7
-
I have not hit my calorie goal since Saturday, when I lost a game of fetch with my dog. I reached for the stick and she threw it up in the air (yes, I think she was trying g to throw it for me) and it hit me in face.
I have had a headache and nausea ever since it hit me. I know I have a mild concussion and I know not eating is how to not actually be sick. (I am a TBI survivor so I know when to actually go see the doc.)5 -

And wouldn't you earn more activity calories if you were fighting for them? Bonus!!3 -
Lol yes! Every time I see a “I can’t eat all my calories” post my eyes roll so hard3
-
Me too! I could easily eat twice my current (not very blinking big) cutting allowance. And all of your allowances too3
-
Maintenance calories of 2700, and I could still eat more! I hear ya.3
-
I'm pretty sure I could eat mine and about 3 others!2

LOL!!!! Seriously. Unless I am really sick (rare, but a nasty stomach bug will leave me in a severe deficit for a day or two), I have to really watch myself from going over. Going under has never been my problem.
Although I have spoken to a single person that legitimately has a hard time hitting 1200; severe muscular issues that leave him wheel chair bound and has a difficult time with food. He also knows he's underweight and asks for the best very high calorie supplements that are easy on being swallowed.1 -

I've never understood those posts either! More often times than not most aren't weighing their food on a food scale or trying to eat what they view as clean.
I know I can definitely still put away food & during some of my hangry PMS times I am sure I have demolished 5,000 calories easily.0 -
I have switched to a low carb way of eating to help control cravings and hunger. When everything was free for all, yes, I could very easily reach my calorie goal and beyond. It's why I have 25-30 pounds to lose. After lunch sugar cravings were the worst, and I would get chocolate or something sweet to satisfy the sweet tooth. Nothing stuck with me either. I would be starving again 2 hours after a meal.
Since switching to low carb, I honestly can say I have trouble reaching my calories. With sweets/sugar/breads, etc...my trigger foods...off limits to me, I do find most days around 1000 to 1100 calories. I don't have cravings any longer, I am full longer after eating, and I don't reach for food just to eat out of boredom. I only eat when I am hungry. Since switching, I also sleep better and don't hit a wall of tiredness halfway through the afternoon. I'd say all of these are positives.5 -

I didn't switch to low carb but cutting back on carbs at lunch especially bread definitely eliminated the wall of tiredness halfway through the afternoon.
However I could eat peanut butter for every meal and still want more. Then I discovered almond butter, so now I want both. Somehow my spoonfuls always come out heaping3 -
I find my hormones make my appetite very erratic. I'm perimenopausal and I have days where the idea of eating gives me nausea. Other days, my hormones make me crazy hungry. On the days when I felt nauseous about eating, later in the day I'd be ravenous, so I'd overeat later. That's how I came to need to lose weight. That, and being sedentary at the time. Even now, I struggle some days eating enough calories (but I make sure I do; there's only been one day I came under, because I forgot what time it was and forgot to eat enough), and other days I struggle to come under, because I'm ridiculously hungry. But it seems that the longer I do this, the more my appetite is starting to stabilize.3

2400 cals day would be HEAVEN. my meager 1350 just doesnt cut it most of the time (as far as what/ how much id LIKE to eat) lololol
no one got fat by not eating ENOUGH. Quite the opposite. And USUALLY when people THINK they are full on under .... they are not accurately weighing/logging their food.
And the random day of being under, isnt a big deal. Its when its consistent that its a concern.
its a problem ill never have. lolololol4 -
I tried keto for a couple weeks, started-out strong, and wound-up starving, not to mention missed eating carbs. I was under-eating at 1650 cals, and since shifted gears to a 40c/40p/20f 2300cal diet, but have fallen short the past5-6 days, and really missing the carb and protein grams.
Doing a bit better today, as I've made it a point to force myself to eat. Hoping it's just an adjustment period, and things will level-out in a week or so.
It doesn't help I'm inactive other than 3x week work-out but plan to add a bicycle to the program soon (sure it would help my knee as well). Hopefully more activity will spark a bit more of an appetite. The heat (mid 90's) isn't helping things either.0 -
