Best date you never went on.
For me, it was this girl I had grown up with my whole life. We were always just friends. Then in uni we had a few "coffee" nights. Then she invited me to a concert.
cue the standard dumb boy missing cues trope
Anyways, met a friend of hers at a party some tim later, but didn't know they were buddy-buddy. Saw that girl a few times - she was psycho so it ended quickly and not nicely. Now everytime I talk to her she threatens to put us back together (pyscho and I, that is.)
Anyways, it's too late now but that's the best "date" I never went on.

Once there was this cute, funny Canadian guy. At first he thought I didn't like him, but it was all a misunderstanding.
I always wanted to go on a cool date with this dude. But he kept leaving me.
And deleting me on snapchat.
Idk what I have to do to gain his affections again.
Perhaps another banana selfie dedicated to him is in order.
Sure wish I could find that man again. :grumble:0 -
When Joe from Syracuse asked me out at the gym and I had to say no because I had a boyfriend. I should have gone, I really did like you.1

Seems like a high maintenance guy. Only redeeming feature is his passport!0 -
I was in Baltimore on an excursion alone. On my second to last day I decided to walk down to the bay, I stopped to grab a coffee. Well I am not a fancy coffee drinker and I was sitting out side and a handsome you guy sat down and I asked if he’d help me order so I didn’t look like an idiot.
We ordered my coffee (well he did and I sat there looking like a fool) and I said thank you. We started chatting and I mentioned I was alone and was going to walk about and he offered to show me around.
We had lunch, a drink, laughs. Hung out for about 6 hrs. Then he had to go and I didn’t act. He hugged me good bye. That was it. Chickens out. Didn’t ask for his number didn’t kid his cheek nothing.
I always wonder what would’ve happened.

It's the elusive one that got away. The one that never gave you a second glance that you pine for. The one you dressed up for or would run down the street for and lick their tires as they drive away. They marry someone else and have a bunch of kids. You see them in the grocery store and realize that someone was really looking out for you all along.1

best date I had was this year on my 9th anniversary with the best hubby ever!
We spent the day walking in the woods collecting wood, then we went home had drinks, made a bon fire, ate smoores and stayed up all night laughing and talking and getting blinding drunk!
Its the simple things in life!1 -

I'm pretty sure that the billions of people I haven't 'dated' are tied for the 'best date I never went on'.2

Ball game with a friend and a guy sitting not too far away catches my eye. I end up talking to said guy almost the entire baseball game and he and I really hit it off. Come to find out we live In neighboring cities.
end of game we split and go our separate ways. Cool dude and we both were big chickens! No numbers exchanged- nothing.3 -
We started talking online, then by phone. A month later I flew 700 miles to meet in person. Our first 'real date'. He picked me up at the airport, we went to dinner then to his apartment where he got down on one knee and proposed. He had picked out the ring two weeks before. November of this year will be our 17th anniversary.1

Best date I never went on is the one when he was completely smitten by me, brought me flowers, kissed my hand and swept me off my feet.1

When I was 19, I moved in with my aunt to work a summer job. I quickly obtained a job at a local convenience store where I worked nights. I hated it because jerks would come in sometimes and steal alcohol. One night, my co-worker and I were on schedule and it was a cold night outdoors and we were not receiving many customers. He was in the back stocking the freezer while I stayed up front to handle any customers that may show up. This guy came in with his dog, selected a single can of beer from the back cooler, brought it to my register and paid. He was wearing this hooded jacket, jeans and we briefly made eye contact. He seemed shy and a little flustered. I was too - but at that time, I was very much the introvert and an extremely shy person. He left. I went back into the back room behind the register. Approximately 20 minutes later the front door beeped signaling a customer. I came out from the back to stand at my register. My co-worker was still unboxing and stocking. It was the same guy with his dog. He was holding something behind his back. I felt nervous and slightly alarmed. He walked up to me at my register and brought his hand forward from behind his back - he put a card and a single rose on the counter in front of me, turned around and left. I was so surprised and taken aback. I'd never experienced a situation such as this. I was quite flattered. Long story short, we became great friends and talked A LOT over that summer, hung out a lot and had many great laughs and amazing conversations. We never dated. He never came out and asked me to date him or to be exclusive. I'm not sure if we were both just that hesitant to put it out there. I remember one evening he popped in to my aunt's house. He was out walking his dog, Lady, with his best friend. He asked if I wanted to join them. I agreed. Roland ended up walking Lady while we walked behind talking and laughing. He grasped my hand at one point, realized it and let go. I wish he hadn't. We ended up sitting on a curb behind this gas station, looking at the stars and talking some more. All the best dates I never went on were with that man. I miss him.5
