Hey I am Starting to lose weight after years of struggling, I am a blogger also just starting out. I am 167.5 and looking to be 120.0 so I still have quite the ways to go. I am doing the Keto diet and although it is hard to get all of the food that I need to eat without going over the carb limit. I am open to any new friends to keep me going down the right path. Sometimes I get to the point where I feel like giving up and I just need a push in the right direction.

I to am trying to do Keto. I was doing so very good from Sept-April with it until my walking partner and I both got busy at work and on different schedules. Then my health took a nose dive and I got really depressed and have been at home sulking for the last couple months. I'm back on it for 2 days now and I already feel better just need to keep on keeping on.

You can do this the first week is always the hardest0 -
Maybe you should pick an eating plan that is easier to stick to.4

The Keto diet seems to be working for me so far I have lost 12 lbs. In the past though I am known to fall of the band wagon1

Looking to start this Keto diet next week any simple ideas on how to and where to begin? Thanks.0

Hi,
I've been on this for a while.
It's worth joining the Low Carber MFP group and there is loads of info and helpful folk there.

As for needing carbs for energy - no you don't3

I would suggest getting Magnesium and No salt which is potassium to stop the effects of the keto flu before it happens. Also Im on week 4 and still going through withdraws so I also recommend not having any of those yummy carbs in the house after you start. Also being able to eat chocolate rocks but it has to be dark and one of the best things you can get is chicken. one of those roticery chickens last 3 days if portioned correctly.1

I think you are misinformed - you can get all the energy you need from fat via ketosis.
There are no nutritionally essential carbs.

There are many studies on the low carb/keto way of eating for anyone looking to inform themselves.
The forum that I posted a link to above has an abundance of info and clinical studies/references if you would like some education on the subject.
There are many people on these forums who have made significant health improvements following this way of eating, and many people following this deduct fibre from total carb intake and track net carbs for counting (total carbs - fibre).
It isn't the only way, granted, but it works for many who have tried alternatives for years.
I'm posting here on a 'Keto diet' thread to support the thread, and folks looking for support in keto dieting- not post in a negative manner from my own personal belief.
After all it's a personal choice so why post on a keto thread if you just want to voice an 'anti-keto' message.

I'm not disputing that many people can loose weight on a regular diet, but you have to know your body. Mine wasn't built the same way that yours is. The only similarities is that we are both women and that we have the same amount of chromosomes. by cutting out most carbs, I'm still aloud 20 a day I am also cutting out my sugars which is helping my insulin resistance. And I feel much more healthier than I did 4 weeks ago. Before that I could never wake up and feel like i am able to go for a walk or go to a gym and work out, now I do Feel that and its because of the life style change.1

I'm not the one misinformed. The fiber you get from vegetables? Carbs. And fiber is most certainly nutritionally essential in your diet. Carbs are nutritionally essential, that's why they are part of a healthy balanced diet. Unless you have some clinical studies you could share to back up the woo?
Hello, I believe both parties are right. Yes, carbs can be essential to be part of a healthy balanced diet dependent upon that persons diet and health issues. However, I agree with all of rgg71’s statements. I’ve been doing the Keto Diet since May 13th 2018. I haven’t had a single gram of carbs in weeks and am still killing it in the gym with plenty of energy to spare. Lost 18.2 lbs of Body Fat Mass and 6.6% Body Fat. I feel great.

So you aren’t eating veg?

Question unrelated to the carb argument lol.
I've start weight training again as well, are you getting most of your protein through meat mostly? Do you recommend any protein supplements? most of the protein supplements I find have a carb content to them so I'm not sure to completely avoid them? Thanks!..1 -
The Low Carber Daily group linked up thread really is a great group. The Keto MFP group is also another supportive group to join:

Both groups usually have a few recipe and health threads going at any time for inspiration.rianneonamission wrote: »rianneonamission wrote: »I think you are misinformed - you can get all the energy you need from fat via ketosis.

It is correct that carbs are non-essential. They can be healthy (I'm thinking of veggies, some fruit, nuts, and seeds) but you can live very healthfully by eating almost none except for incidental glycogen in meat and eggs.
... Since the end of April, to improve my health, I've only had a handful of nuts. It's non-essential. I eat quality animal products and feel great.1 -

I will often use partial servings in my coffee as a whitener. I think I have a Genuine Health one right now - it's plain. My kids have a vegan one that is vanilla and sweetened with stevia. There's quite a few that are very low carb and can be made to work within a keto diet if you want them.1 -
My advice would be unless you plan to have a keto diet for the rest of your life, then don't use it as a tool to lose weight. Almost everyone who uses a restrictive diet as a tool to lose weight gains all the weight back and often times more the second they switch off the diet. You can't think of a diet as temporary. You need to teach yourself the proper way of eating and practice that for the rest of your life, otherwise you'll just be stuck yo-yo dieting with the rest of em...3

Hello JonathanTaveras,
All my protein comes from ground beef, salmon, and cheese. How much lean muscle are you trying to gain since you started back up? I’d recommend whey protein supplements in addition to healthy foods that contain high protein like meats/veggies each day. Unless you’re on a strict Keto Diet then I’d recommend not avoiding too much carbs, especially if your body is used to getting its energy from carbs like grains and veggies. You generally need 1 gram of protein per pound of muscle you have. Are you currently doing the Keto Diet?0 -

I totally agree - that goes for any diet really.
If you stop the diet and return to your previous eating habits then you get the same result.
There are many ways to approach this with LCHF/Keto being just one of them. It can work for the rest of your life if it suits you.0 -
I plan on sticking with it for the rest of my life but not so strictly like once every 3 days Ill have something that isn't so low in carbs.0

Unfortunately in the case of keto, that's not really how it works. If you eat something carb heavy every 3 days or so, you will immediately throw your body out of ketosis1 -
Hi! Started Keto about two months ago and down 18 lbs! I'd love to connect! I really enjoy the lifestyle! It's been a huge change for me because I was vegan for YEARS, but my body does not like the carbs, and it's nearly impossible to Keto as a vegan...so locally sourced, grass finished animules for bone broth and LOTS of wild-caught fish, scallops, shrimp, oysters, muscles, etc. LOTS AND LOTS OF VEGGIES. I still love them dearly.
It's been really nice stuffing myself with fat instead of rice and beans. LOL.
I am surprisingly full of energy! Clear-minded! It's just awesome. I have been floored by how easy this transition has been and how filling it is. Sometimes I struggle to actually eat enough food for the day because the fat keeps me so full.
I'm new here, so would LOVE some friends! I'll go around maniacally adding you all like a creepy stalker. Thank you!0
