There's been some other discussion about it. It is confusing for sure. See

OK. I see. But it makes me sad. I thought "Woo" was a sound of "awesome" like "woo-woo!". apologies to all I have "woo"-ed. I was being happy for you! Think we need more than "Like" and "Hug". How about "Happy Dance"????
I agree, but good luck getting the MFP engineers to fix that.2 -

I am doing awful this month weight wise. I had to take antibiotics for a week and it caused me to retain water and I was constantly hungry. I finished the meds a few days ago and am finally seeing the weight drop. Staying within my calories is becoming easier and I'm not craving sweets anymore, yay! I doubt I'll see my goal this month but I'm not giving up. If I'm lucky (i.e. work hard and keep on track) the scale will keep going in the right direction.

It doesn't mean congratulations and well done?! I've been wooing loads of people on MFP...
Unfortunately, woo on MFP has a negative connotation...which surprised a lot of us. Hence why I made my apologies. Crazy, right?0 -

Exactly. I have done it a lot but as an expression of joy! MFP programmers, please make a Happy Dance button!
Why is “woo” = skepticism? Or too good to be true. Shouldn’t it be “whoa” instead?

I don't see why we even need or want a negative response option, this is supposed to be a supportive and motivating site, have whatever negative thoughts about others posts if you need to but keep them to yourself. If you cant say anything good don't say anything1 -
