@PastorVincent - my hat is off to you for setting the Dopey as a goal. I'm a sucker for great bling - but I also know my limits. I ran a half two weekends in a row last March and my husband thought I was nuts for that!
In May I ran the Pittsburg Marathon - killed a PR, and then ran a 50k Trail Ultra the next weekend. People told me that was insane... maybe it was, but probably do it again next year LOLbiketheworld wrote: »For whatever reason, I CANNOT get my ticker to update. It is updated - it just takes a bit for the changes to show on your screen due to all the caching.3 -

I am not a morning person at all, but it looks like I need to be tomorrow morning so I can get my run done before it is hot. Otherwise, it won't be until after work / evening when it is supposed to be hot.
Where does the Feel Like of 107F and Dew Point of 77F fall on the "suffer scale" now?

Well, ain't you the craziest runner ever... Serious respect for those monthly miles. Parts would be falling off me if I tried that.1 -

3 miles of hill repeats followed by a fairly flat out and back which still felt hard after the hills. Not sure why I set my goal at 75 miles this month. I know I lowered it for May due to busy work time and vacation. I will raise it next month.
@girlinahat – Wow! What amazing feats you accomplished over the weekend! I’m so impressed! Congratulations!
@riceroni – Glad you are feeling better. Sorry about the disappointing race. Your time was fantastic but I know it wasn’t what you were hoping for.

Since I'm a goal and I'm just back to building miles, I'm cutting back big time this week. I plan to run only every other day.
@AlphaHowls just wow!!! I gotta ask, what happened on 6/25? 1.02 miles or it that a typo? Fantastic running.

So there's this...
Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening...
* heat index readings...greater than 105 degrees during the
afternoon and early evening hours. Overnight low temperatures
will remain very warm with high humidity. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
So naturally we ran. 5k around the lake early morning. Not too bad really although we were both drenched afterwards since sweat does not evaporate in this humidity. 32 minutes, that seems to be the new normal. Still aiming to get back under 30 min.
We saw a very lovely Gray heron hunting frogs, and saw the same indigo bunting we saw last run. He seems to live in a particular bush near the river overlook.

Another day under 14 minute miles! Woo! Now I set my target of breaking 13 again. Felt good this morning. Yesterday my legs hated me today they were all YAY!
I've been reading Let Your Mind Run by Deena Kastor (highly recommended btw) and I last bight she talked about using the wind as her competition. So when I turned into the wind this morning I thanked the wind for making me a stronger runner. Working on this mindset thing and being more positive. Seems to be working when I use it.
Question: anyone use headphones that sit on your face and not in the ear? I'm looking to go wireless but have such issues with earbuds staying in. I was looking at a brand called aftershockz. The reviews seem mostly positive (even comments on a runners world Facebook post).11 -

@amymoreorless We need Heat Index and Dew Point to compare, though.1 -

@RunsOnEspresso I have a pair of wireless Afershockz and I love them. I got them for safety reasons. I can hear everything around me when I am running solo outside but the music is still clear. I bought a refurbished pair 6 months ago off Amazon and they are still working great.

@midwesterner85 I don’t really want to look -LOL. I will talk myself out of my long run tomorrow if I keep checking the weather.
Not trying to compare. I was just complaining in general. Humidity always makes everything a million times more sucky. It starts feeling like you are running in Satan’s armpit when humidity levels go above 80%. I hope you get some relief from the heat and humidity soon.1 -

Yah I only run with one ear bud to hear everything around me. Can other people hear what your listening to? I sometimes listen on the bus and hat when I can hear others stuff. Lol0
