@dhiammarath I've been enjoying your witty dragonpants posts for months. Now it looks like it's really caught on. Here's to contributing to the MFP lexicon!
@HDBKLM Thank you!! I figure if I make myself laugh and feel like the heroine in my own story, I can slay anything in my path!! The dark wood of unknown approaches where I am sure even bigger dragonpants lie, but today I frolic on my birthday!
NSV? The closet's the limit!! I can closet surf across the backs of my slain dragons for whatever birthday outfit I want. And THAT is so much more than what I had last year. Today, I make camp and enjoy a bit of a respite. I plan to throw a proverbial feast! To live in the glory of my accomplishments!
The war ain't over, and tomorrow new plans will be made. And backup plans for no plan survives first contact with the dragon enemy.
Congrats to all the NSVs today!!
Happy birthday! Surely you wore the dragonpants to the birthday festivities, no?4 -
Gotta take a long flight next week and was looking for something comfortable to wear. Found shirt/dress kinda thing at H&M. Tried on size 18 - nope. 16, nope, 14, nope. Size 12 - yep! Stunned. Bought some leggings to wear under it since it's slit up the side. I have never worn them and love them. It's a whole new world. Oh and the shirt dress was on sale for $10 (down from $40). Feeling pretty great today.
Those sizes are pretty much my starting and current sizes. Beware....shopping can get very fun! I have Bought so many clothes lately. It's now fun instead of stressful and depressing.
Great job!8 -
My NSV:
I am out of town for a few days and created my own Backyard bootcamp. I brought kettlebells, jump rope, a couple dumbells, yoga mat, etc.
I did my list yesterday morning and had trouble running around the block but got through the rest of my list. I woke up this morning mad as hell because it's pouring rain and I can't get out and try again. For me that is big!17 -
I wore a swimsuit without a skirt on it... and I'm going to do it again today!28

It doesn't sound like much, but considering I started at 13+ minutes/mile at the beginning of the year, this accomplishment feels absolutely huge. I'm averaging 12 minute miles and looking to run a sub 10 minute mile by the end of the year.
Congratulations! And yes, that sounds awesome. Especially considering how many of us started (or still) couldn't run 1 mile straight, at all (including me - at one point I would get winded walking up a single flight of stairs).
10 minute mile - you can do it!8 -

Frolic away! Happy Birthday!!!
(I, too, have enjoyed watching the fate of the dragonpants unfold!)[/quote]
Seriously, who HASN'T enjoyed the Dragon Pants?
Happy Belated Birthday, @dhiammarath. Slay on, Sister!5 -

I too have watched for the Dragonpants posts. YAY!
I bought a second swimsuit with no skirt.
A friend passed on some clothing that was too big! Pretty pieces going to the tailor.
Goal 12lbs. away. I’m thinking of new wardrobe in Fall colors, a fresh start.20 -
I got a new bathing suit with a drawstring. I had another that fit okay until I swam and dove. Anyway, I tried on a men's medium and just for grins a small. I could fit in the small, but it looked like I was growing out of it, which is the last thing I wanted to look like, so I got the medium. But I actually fit in a small!18

I ran for 30 minutes. No having to walk or even slow down. Two months ago, I was struggling with 5 minutes.31

Looking at pics of me in shorts...my legs look slightly more toned (even though I gained some weight the past couple of months)19

I gotta share.... It’s 97 today and we had a lot of running around to do. I felt so comfortable wearing a flippy above the knee skort and a little cotton tshirt (both size S!!). Hard to describe how freeing it felt to *finally* not worry about how my stomach and legs look.26

A loud, somewhat larger lady in a dressing room said to me, "Just wait 'til you hit forty and the pounds come on!" which was pretty rude and weird of her to say, but for me it was an accidental compliment too because I'm 41. And I said to her, "Oh, I've already hit 40 and I definitely know all about extra pounds...this is the smallest I've been since I was 13" (which is true). Her face just then was pretty hilarious. Of course she was likely horrified because I'm still not a small person. But it was very funny to me and a dual sorta backhand compliment of a different kind.45

For the first time ever In my life I now will go without a shirt on at the beach or when I play basketball. It’s the little things sometimes.29

Last night I put on my choir uniform and, walking along my hall I caught sight of myself in the full length mirror ( always tried to avoid coming upon mirror images unprepared) and thought 'hey, you look like a normal person!'. Not small - but normal will do me for now. 8 lbs from a normal BMI- yay! Haven't been there for about 25 years!32

Thank you! I did - exhausted myself and then passed out at 8:30 pm!6 -
I had ordered a pair of size 16 jeans but received a size 14. I tried them on anyway and found that they fit me really well!! It has been awhile since I have rocked anything that is a size 14! Just really looking forward to the day I can rock my 12's again and potentially even be in single digit sizes.
And I been taking a lot more pictures of myself lately, and I like to flex just to see the little bit of muscle I have even though it is definitely not super prominent.23 -
My morbidly obese co-worker wanted to know the name of the app I used to lose weight when I showed him my photo ID that was taken 70 pounds ago ( it's MyFitnessPal). I followed up a couple days later and he says he's been using it. Hopefully he gets healthier in time.32

My trainer was encouraging me to start running... as I started out as a heavy guy I had never run (a little in elementary school but that was over 20 years ago) She thought I had lost enough that my knees could take it - she was right! Been running for three months now, and yesterday she challenged me to a 10-minute mile. I did it in 9:21. Hard to believe how far I have come. Don’t ever doubt yourself!39

Consistently tightening my belt 1 notch and I can see the second coming in the near future17

I ran a 5k. Ran the whole thing, no walking. The best part: I could probably have ran faster but was unsure about being able to finish if I upped my speed as I've never actually ran one.34

I'm having to buy new "smaller" clothes. I also can get into the few clothing items I bought several years ago when I was planning on losing a few pounds. It never happened till now. They are all summer things (shorts, a sun dress and crop pants) and they all FIT. I'm putting aside the clothes that are too big and enjoying what fits now. I still have 25 pounds to lose but I am enjoying the journey.28

TL:DR I finished a half marathon in 3hrs!
I have a shiny medal and a tshirt to say so! (and very achey legs)
13.1 miles in the sun, up a lot of hills. First ever race and was blown away by the support of the public, there were people with water and haribo and hosepipes! The Fire service came out and had rigged up their hose at mile 11.
Unbelievable. People were cheering and saying we were doing great and zapping us with water pistols!
First 10 miles were pretty good. Especially 5-8, they flew by! Last 3 - the pain set in! My mate who was running with me was getting understandably ticked off as I was walking more and more, but my knees were pretty bad. I picked it up and sprinted with him across the finish though!
Got a bit emotional afterwards and still am when I think about it. Never had a medal for anything before and have never done anything like this. I trained, and I did the thing! 3hrs to finish and mate says we probably walked 20% - mostly up some hills (knees) and during the last 3 miles. Am well happy with that as I was hoping for 2hr45 and I am glad I walked when I did.
Now I have epsom salts for baths and a massage booked for tomorrow night and ice packs and hot water bottles for the various aches hahaha
Feel so proud and happy with myself. Now to rest up and focus on strength training for a few months

I went to Target yesterday and in the dressing room, I got a good look at my back and was very pleased to see the muscle definition there.
Also, my held low plank is up to 4:45. I plan to reach five minutes (my original goal) this week.

I did Race For Life 5k yesterday!
Only started on my weight loss/fitness journey on April 17th and didn’t start running (well jogging) till 5 weeks ago.
I managed to run for the first 8 minutes but then the heat got too much. So I ran the shady parts and walked the rest. Also managed to run over the finish line and didn’t collapse in a heap lol
Finish time was 49 minutes and I am so damn proud of myself!
Before the gym I was on loads of painkillers and struggled to walk very far so this is a huge lifestyle change for me!28 -

My granny panties are now too big, so I can wear my cute and fancy underwear from before. No one else sees them, but it makes me feel good to know I have them on!32
-
Weird one. My blue jeans were so tight that the chapstick I keep in my pocket would roll up, pop the cap off, get out, and leave a stain on my pants... doesn't happen anymore.33
