I work at a bank and one of our customers is obviously being catfished. His Facebook page shows he recently "got married" to some super hot chick with a generic name like Sarah Jones who lives out in California. He's been sending money to someone several times a month out of his account. Poor guy won't believe it's not real.0

Is this even proper to share about a customer?4 -

As long as she doesn’t give personal details I think it’s ok0 -

Fair enough but what if the customer is on MFP too?1 -

I think the embarrassment here will be nothing compared to what's coming his way.....4 -
Breezybreeze7 wrote: »Maybe I’m odd, but I like to chat with everyone, whether I know he is a catfish or not. I don’t send pics. I will have a conversation about whatever. If they are only interested in the pics, they leave on their own. Sometimes, I just think people are lonely and need someone to talk to. Someone made a good point about low self esteem or self confidence.
I don't chat with many people, but I'm the same way. Pictures beyond the couple that I've posted in threads won't happen and I never take it seriously, so I don't see the harm in it. I'm simultaneously impressed by and concerned about people that believe anything others on the internet communicate. If there are so many catfish, trolls, returning users that try to mislead their previous friends or see how long it takes for them to be recognized... It's a significant leap of faith. I'm sure I'm missing the potential to make a small group of good friends, but I guess I just don't have the faith necessary.1 -
I just wrote a long, eloquent response that touched on deceit, anonymity, living in one's mom's basement, and the fact that this forum and the Fun & Games forum are filled with threads asking if you would date, kiss, kick out of bed, stay handcuffed to, or adopt a small farm animal with the person above in the thread, and then I deleted it.
At the end of the day, we exist in reality in a way we can't change quickly or at all based on what we've done in our lives until that point. This blank screen, well it used to be until I started typing, gives each of us a way to recreate ourselves virtually and immediately without question. When the life one leads is not one that the person can be grateful for and celebrate, it is awfully tempting to become that other version here.
So, fish on people if that's what you want to do, or find real friends here, but either way you'll come away with good stories...like the one that got away, or more appropriately, wouldn't go away. Or maybe the one that was "this big" but turned out to really be a minnow...probably more fishing analogies to make, but I haven't fished in years and obviously lost the language.

I’m a full on catfish 😂
I knew it! You are wayyy to fine to be real.
Dang it! I’m busted. You know catfishing is truly awful when there’s a reality show about it.
I admit, it’s a guilty pleasure. And Nev is
I love Max I watch for the pleasure of seeing him

Obviously I would never share names of a customer or even where I work.

Why did she share his personal details so anyone would know who he is? Jeez lighten up.1 -

You/the bank may need to call APS to look into this and check whether he needs help. Sounds like exploitation and he's not connecting the dots.1 -

It’s a question, not a matter of lightening up. In many lines of work that I’ve been in, this could be a violation of patient privacy, esp. the mentioning of Facebook and such, noting that more than one person may know who this man may be, which could embarrass the patient.1 -

Thanks guys, I have been binge watching catfish for two days thanks to this thread.1

OMG is he the guy with the abs out and a baseball cap and sweatpants! From Utah? He added me. I told him I’m married, he said he was too. Then proceeded to ask me about my best features and size of my boobs!
I see he’s added lots of girls over the past hour too! I called him out on it and he called me

Speaking of, whatever happened to the lady who said her husband was cheating on her, and asked if someone here would catfish him for her? I wonder if she ever did it....
Ohhhh, take this to the noobs thread.0 -

But this is the Catfish thread. Lol I don’t know what the Noobs thread is.
If we have a question about something that happened in the past...someone seems to remember.1 -

Lol, that’d be him. Those are his favorite questions and “I’m married” is his reason for having to close his account every night and open a new one the next day. 😂1 -
He finally got it! Another profile picture!
