Yes, thank you. And this one too

Be nice all. She's excited to have found something that works great for her. I think congratulations - for a new member especially - are more warranted than calling the thread ridiculous, bookmarking it for future threads to prove that someone once said that keto was great (in general rather than adding the apparently required "for me" or "for some") or basically predicting failure in 6 months.
At the very least, which most have done, a congratulations with a "glad it worked for you, but it didn't work for me" is fine. Just the first bit before the "but" would be really nice.
Would you feel that way if she made this statement about calorie counting or low fat?
Yes.
TBH I don't often go into those threads. They are not relevant to what I do or how I eat, and I was not successful using those woes, so I would have very little to offer. I do not go int those threads to dissuade people from doing that woe or to take them down a peg or two.19 -

Do you mean it's the best for you? If it's the best for you, that's awesome! Go for it! But it certainly isn't the best for me. I lost weight eating 200g of carbs per day so keto wasn't on my agenda. Keto might be the best for you but that certainly isn't the case for everyone. If you like it, go for it.7 -
I am not going to comment on what someone might have meant....or if someone is just being lazy with language. I find Keto works very well for me - generally speaking. I really enjoy the foods that I eat. I love carbs, but they do not seem to love me back. Which is unfortunate (I can make some mean I-talian foods.....). So, Keto is a way of eating for me that works. I would suggest, though, that it is super restrictive, which would very likely cause a good percentage of people to not be able to sustain that way of eating (which totally defeats the purpose). Anyway...Keto is great for me...and others....but - I would not say - great for everyone!2

Lol Keto is an abbreviation and we are splitting foods into macros. Your comment makes no sense.11 -

I agree, but you will always have those people who comment nonsense just to try to sound smart.
I work in healthcare and wanna guess the two most recommended diets by cardiologists? I'll give you a hint one starts with an A and the other a K
But you ask a dietitian and they start talking food pyramids like the 70s.25 -

I’m going with this one.

There’s a lot of haters out here! Keto is awesome! Pumped on other people who have found what I have found. Keep it up Aimee!!! 🤙20

I'd say it's better to be a keto hater than a people hater.13

Let's see... Since doctors on average get as much nutrition training as a high school student, while dieticians literally have their whole field exclusively as their studies, I'd go with those.16 -

For you. And that's great.
Personally, I couldn't stomach eating that way.

Your wrong. I work in home infusion. We provide multiple therapies for patient in thier home. Like TPN. Enteral, inotrop, ivig, etc. For our patients who are on inotrop..the physician instructs the meal plan not the dietitian. We have dietitians on staff but guess who's orders they follow? Same goes for TPN which supplies 100% of the nutrician needed by the patient..proscription comes from the doctor not a dietitian.15 -

“Haters?” Taylor Swift is that you!?

I am glad you found something that is working for you. Kudos! But I do not share your opinion.
Keto was NOT the best choice for me. I am on a diuretic and have kidney issues. I tried Keto and wound up developing a 22mm kidney stone - 5 day surgeries remove the thing, a stent for 5 months, and lost time at work! First thing the urologist and the nephrologist both asked me was if I was on Keto.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just be supportive of each other's attempts to follow any sort of strategy that results in success that isn't actually dangerous? We all have to deal with food pushers, judgy siblings demanding an explanation for why the salad dressing is on the side, the temptation to just hit that snooze button one more time and skip the workout, the desire to leap off the treadmill because ugghhhh this is so hard, the temptation to eat a slice of a piece of cake that says "Happy Birthday Becky" that's in the work breakroom, even though we don't like Becky or care about her birthday. We are sick of our Spanx and have "skinny jeans" in our closet and our kitchens are full of measuring cups and our brains are full of random factoids, like 1 oz. of avocado is exactly 50 calories and that cooked raw chicken weighs less than when it's raw.
We are all here to fight for what we want. That's a good thing.
BTW, 7 months on keto, 7 YEARS using MFP for calorie tracking, and you know what? Keto works absolutely fine. It's just like any other calorie restriction plan.6 -

Nobody says keto doesn't work just fine...it's just that the "keto is the best diet for fat loss" and "keto is the best diet for overall health" and "keto cures every disease known to man" evangelism gets really old. Not just here either...pretty much every social media site has keto evangelists coming out the *kitten*.25 -
nah I'm good on that. I've lost weight just fine without eating keto5

You'll take my yogurt, ice cream, cookies, bread, potatoes and pasta out of my cold dead (healthy weight) hands.
Hey, someone mention sugar addiction.13 -
Keto helps me a lot. As it helps satisfy me and keep my calories down. Though I must say in the past month I have been introducing more carbs back in my diet and still staying under or at my daily calorie goals.
Measuring and logging have become much more important then the exact ratio of this or that for me. I do prefer the low carb way though.5 -

So you're pretty much OK with new members reading "Keto is the way to lose weight", forcing themselves to follow a food plan that cuts out all the foods they may find satiating, and beating themselves up because they can't stick to the plan?13 -

I'm OK with them trying a plan, whether it's Keto or another plan. It's not my place to "be OK" with another adult's diet plan, anyway.
Also, I am not sure where "trying keto" has to equal failing miserably and beating themselves up. Cutting out foods that they might find satiating applies to ANYTHING involving eating less. BTW, most people who like keto like it because the foods you do eat are satiating.3
