I’m not a fibro patient, but I have suspected neuro bechets disease and have been seriously ill for the past 6 years. I have exercise induced anaphylaxis so exercising is pretty much a no no. I’m also being investigated for heart/bp problems at the moment since I keep randomly losing consciousness. So I know how hard it is to even attempt getting out of bed some days let alone concentrating on a diet and planning exercise6

I have lupus & RA. The last 5 years I’ve really let myself go to the point I’m ashamed to go anywhere and I’m miserable! I feel like & look like I ate my former self. Lol. I refused steroids because I saw the damage they did to my grandma & how hard she tried to get off of them but couldn’t. The only other option my doc gave me was nsaids. They worked great until I ended up with a stomach ulcer then a few months later a duodenal ulcer and a few months later completely shut down my gallbladder which led to having it removed immediately. The doc said I didn’t have the typical gall stones. He said it looked like shards of glass being contracted onto each other over & over. I knew the pain was excruciating. My lupus attacks my upper GI tract. I have gastritis, esophagitis, hiatal hernia, & reflux. In addition my joints swell and hurt on a daily basis making everyday tasks a challenge. Because I can’t take nsaids anymore my other option was pain medication. So I’ve currently being taking those for the last 8 years. I’ve thought about trying something like Humira but I’m so afraid of the side effects. I was a very healthy overly active mother of 5 who thought she was superwoman. I did all the cooking, cleaning, running kids to sports, taking care of the kids, doing homework with them, etc. I used to get a kick out of seeing how much I could accomplish in one day & pushing myself. I loved to run & walk. At one point my daughter & I each had our own horse for trail rides & had so much fun doing that. Now I can’t do any of those things. Some days it’s all I can do to get out of bed due to the pain & exhaustion. It feels like someone hooked a vacuum machine up to my body & sucked the life out of me. I started getting sick when my twins were 2 months old. Before that I was the picture of health. And it’s just gradually gotten worse each year. My doc said I probably would have developed these diseases later in life around 60 or 70 but because a twin pregnancy is such a traumatic even for the body it just brought it out sooner. I’m not giving up! I know there has to be a medicine or supplements along with a healthy diet & exercise that can make me feel close to what I felt like before. Lately I’ve been researching a lot of supplements. It gets really confusing because there are so many & everyone claims theirs is the best & will cure it all. Be leary of the ones that claim to cure everything. No drug can do that. I’d love to hear how you’ve managed to fight against the fatigue & pain. I’m willing to try almost anything to feel good again.5

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, thanks Iraq chemical exposure! I feel your pain, and I'm sick of seeing my weight tick up just because I can't go more than a few minutes. So I'm going to take a page out of my Army playbook and just do a series of workouts a handful of minutes each. Thankfully my office offers me some privacy. Let's do this together.5

Our illnesses sure do not make it easy to get fit. I was an over achiever, had tons of energy, my house was spotless - like magazine cover spotless, could run around with my son, dance for hours on end, my energy was endless, now I feel like I have been hit by a truck, no real energy. I miss the old me.0

I hear ya. I don't think the old us is ever coming back though. But, we can still make due with what cards we've been dealt. I've been doing thirty sit-ups every hour or so and I'm feeling beat but I can at least do that much before reaching exhaustion. And if next hour I can only do twenty, or even two, that's still more than zero.3

I have been surprised to find that exercise seems to help my fibro, but everyone is different. I haven't had as much pain (although hot humid weather and changes in weather set off a flare). All we can do is the best we can.0

Elsie,
Oh how I wish I could be pain free, even for a day. I miss those days. I haven't had a pain free or even mostly pain-free, energy-filled day in at least 6 years. I have a headache everyday but mostly tolerable. The chronic fatigue, fibro, arthritis, muscle spasms, neuropathy, and severe plantar fasciitis make it difficult to push through. Being on the keto diet has helped to clear a little of the brain fog and give me a better attitude/spirit/outlook.0
