I had an impromptu personal training session today.
NSV 1 -- I'd already done thirty minutes of my workout today when the trainer I work with waved me over to say she had a cancellation for her next session which was in another thirty minutes if I wanted to stick around. My first NSV is that I said yes. I didn't automatically think I'd be too tired or make an excuse. I added another 30 minutes of easy cardio to my routine and then worked out with her.
NSV 2 -- She didn't charge me for the session. She said she recognized how consistent I've been and how hard I've been working and just wanted to do something nice for me. That kind of recognition meant the world to me.43 -

This is the best WHY I have to that question. It's also why we renew our licenses so often.
In NC, our license last a fair number of years and can be renewed on line. The last time I had to go into the DMV office for my license renewal, I was in my 40s. My current driver's license will expire when I turn 66. Needless to say, there is a lot wrong on my license. Weight isn't listed, but I am now shorter, my hair isn't the same color or thickness and faces change enough with aging that I would be surprised if facial recognition worked using that picture.4 -
I normally workout in leggings. Today at the gym I wore shorts instead, and I could see some muscle definition in my thighs! No idea what that muscle is called (inside of my thighs, close to my knees) but I am pretty impressed!15

Great job, everyone, on all your NSV's! You gals and guys are all so motivating!
Not much for me this week, except for the reassuring feeling of being in control. I have healthful meals, I have non-healthful meals. It's all balancing out and my body is doin' what it needs to. Finally gathered up the steam to do some meal prep earlier this week and I love the new recipe I tried!
Also, I know that this isn't necessarily the place for this, but I recently found at the grocery store some pre-cooked "grilled" frozen chicken breasts! Just nuke 'em for four minutes! Perfect for those nights when I'm out of prepped food and too wiped out from work to cook!

I ran my first 5K today. I was hoping for under 35 minutes but finished in 30 minutes 16 seconds. Yay!29

Today marks the three year anniversary of my joining MFP. This is an inspirational place, because of you guys. Keep it up everyone, you're doing just fab.

I've cycled down it (this was a little disappointing, didn't get to an interesting speed).
Today, I finally decided to heck with the traffic, I was going to cycle UP it.
So I did. I thought that I was going to die, especially as there's a bump near the top that you have to get over and then there's more to cycle up after that. Max HR was in the 170's. My RHR is about 55bpm.
But I made it. I don't think that I've ever felt so victorious. Man, it felt so good!
Next challenge: to run up it
Well, I finally did it. I ran up the hill. I'd been for a walk with my family and the hill was on the way back. I said to my DH, would he mind walking with the children and taking my rucksack so that I could try to run up the hill. He looked at me like I was crazy (I get that look quite often from him, he obviously knows me too well), sighed and grabbed my rucksack.
Off I went. Doing okay then I heard a pounding alongside me. Looked over and there are my fourteen year old son and my five year old daughter. Slightly surprised but really happy to see them both . . . and they ran with me all the way to the top.
This ain't a small hill. It's evil and so steep. We had to slow a little as we approached the top but run it we did. It was amazing and great fun, especially as my daughter kept giggling; she thought it hilarious that she'd run with me.
Got to the top with red faces, panting like anything but didn't care at all.
I will never just walk up that hill again.49 -

Was getting ready for last minute bbq.
Didn't need to do much to get ready. Nails and hair were already done. I reached in my closet and didn't go "oh I have nothing to wear," and try on a bunch of stuff, but rather quickly chose something cute and put it on and it looked great on me.
That doesn't seem like a big deal, but for years, any "event" required a trip to the store where I'd be near tears trying to find something I actually liked and fit.
Then, when I found out the bbq would have some questionable company, who I didn't want to deal with, and got disrespected by the person who invited me, I decided not to put myself through that and declined to go.

I’ve given up before after making a lot of progress because I’m kinda an all or nothing person. If I ate something higher in calories and slightly messed up my deficit, I would stuff my face for the rest of the day until I felt sick. Also, when I had a planned cheat day for a special event I didn’t know how to get back on track the next day and ended up failing.
My birthday was on Tuesday this week and I ate a huge cupcake and a burger. For my other meals, I ate what I normally eat instead of allowing it to lead to a binge. I didn’t feel bad about going 1000 calories over and I easily got back on track the next day. I ended up still being in my normal weekly deficit this week anyways with some extra exercise (and found a new love for biking!)49 -
My doctor took me off one of my blood pressure meds yesterday!54

I bought new jeans yesterday. Size 36 - a long way from the 42s I was in 6 months ago. Also, I climbed a few hills on my bike ride that normally mock and terrify me.32

After a month of slipping backwards (gained 3 lbs), and last week taking progress photos that made me cringe, I got back on track this week with both exercise and food. I even decided to try out intermittent fasting.23

Thank you, @rheddmobile !! I know that cooking chicken is likely healthier and much cheaper, but I really can't beat this convenience! Much better than having a bowl of cereal (or ice cream...or two ) for dinner!5

@mrschwarten, when I visited a registered dietitian she suggested preparing and cooking my meals for the week on the weekend, heating them up as I ate them during the week. We are all busy with life but if you have some free time you might want to try preparing your dishes ahead of time, accurately measuring the ingredients and weighing the final product before putting it in the freezer. That way you can have a MRE Meal Ready to Eat, warm it up and you know what is in it and how it was prepared.6

This is actually a scale victory, I celebrated my sisters birthday yesterday, we had some steak on the grill, potatoes and of course cake and ice cream.
The NSV: I controlled myself, I was over in my protein, under in my fat and carbs.
SV: I know that there is a lot more to weight fluctuations than a one day to compare but I was surprised that I actually weighed less than yesterday.11 -
I have been really sick the last few days. Normally I refuse to eat (history of malnutrition), and and lose a ton of weight. This time I kept meals simple, and this morning I only lost 0.6lbs.21

I had a blood test and had great numbers. I was able to reduce a medication.30

In Wisconsin, we have to renew licenses every eight years, with new pics. I did mine last year and put my actual weight on it. Then gained about 15. Today I'm back at the weight on my license. I'm proud I was not too ashamed to put my real weight.
Also, yesterday I went running in the am and then went kayaking in the afternoon. I basically spent the whole day busy (never owned kayaks before, so I spent time figuring out how to load them properly, etc). I was never out of breath, carried the boats back to the car by myself b/c my younger friend was feeling the heat and I had her sit in the car with the a/c on. And I felt that perfect degree of tiredness at bedtime, and fell asleep easily. Woke a couple times but went back to sleep. I've been struggling with sleep this summer and am so glad I seem to be getting back into a rhythm that will work once school starts.
I haven't felt this well and this strong in a while.21 -
At our staff meeting the other day, the subject of age came up. Most of the guys know approximately how old I am. When I mentioned that I was 55, the response even from people I deal with day to day was "damn, you are well put together for that age". The funny thing is that a year and a half ago, I was as frumpy and as much of a tub of goo as a whole bunch of "normal" guys my age.
While I don't have a "six-pack" (probably more like an almost 2-pack right now), lifting heavy and losing about 45-50 pounds (it varies) since February of 2017 has changed things dramatically. When people I haven't seen in a while see me, there are actual times they don't recognize me....
Feeling very blessed to have my health and to wake up every day.19 -

If you think about a +1000 calorie day in the long term, it doesn't turn out to be such a big deal. Especially if you're younger (and even if you're not). If you're trying to lose 2 pounds a week, it turns out to be one day delay. Two days if your goal is slower. It's nothing.
It looks like you've put some perspective on those days and as long as you have healthier habits, those days are no big deal at all. Well done!14 -

I own this really cute pastel plaid button up shirt that I've only worn open with a tank top underneath. Today, I wore it comfortably buttoned up and someone at church commented on how good I was looking. Made my day!!23

I am absolutely over the moon today - I recently bought what I thought was going to be my 'ultimate challenge' dress on eBay - a size UK8 Monsoon fitted shift dress, lovely jacquard fabric, fully lined.
Today I dared to try it on for the first time, and I can get it on and zip it up fully , and it doesn't look ridiculous - yes, it's too tight around the bum and thighs to be practical to wear yet, but it's WAY closer to fitting than I expected it to be at this point, and means that my disproportionately heavy thighs are finally starting to get with the program (I have just hit a normal BMI).33 -
I finished my first half marathon yesterday.24

My feet no longer supinate when I wear sneakers.
I can tie my shoes bending over in a chair. I used to be able to only tie them on my bed with one leg lifted lmao.
I can do a 10 min jumping jack workout in it’s entirety.
I’ve been going through a pretty awful and exhausting depressive episode, but by the grace of god I’ve managed to stay on track with my workouts and diet. There’s been a lot of crying during and after workouts, a lot of inner dialogue going on, and just plain ole willpower. A lot of spite too, because this is one battle I’m not letting my demons win.51 -
I threw out my favorite size L yoga pants that I have had since college, finally too big. They have lasted me through post partum for 3 kids. Bought a replacement pair of leggings in size S. They are a little on the snug side but my brain is having a hard time processing buying small things, I think it's in my head.29
