Rather than worrying about other people's calories and loss, focus on yours - everyone is different and required calories are determined by so many factors, what someone else does is irrelevant to you.
I mainly weight train as its what I enjoy. I'm not a huge cardio fan but do a little just for fitness. I've been limited by my Dr to exercise sessions of 30 minutes which I find slightly restrictive. I would like to join a ballet class, but the school I want to go to is a bit far away and the classes don't really fit my schedule right now.18 -

I never used MFP's calorie suggestions because I used the Mifflin st jeor calorie count equation. It is widely considered to be the most accurate determination of an individuals caloric intake needs. MFP was always a little off by ~400 or so, depending on weight and age changes.
At 280lbs, 24yrs, male, 6ft. I was going to hike in the morning and lift weights at night, 6 days a week. I was eating ~2400 calories a day. However, since food labels are often inaccurate by as much as + or - 25%, I often overestimated the calories I ate slightly, and underestimated the exercise slightly. So if I had to make an educated guess as to my true intake: 1900. My TDEE was about 3300 and BMR about 2200.
I am currently 225. And havent worked out in almost 2 months, but lost about 20 lbs in that time. I went through a health phase where I just didnt want sugar in my body whether it be carbs or candy even fruit. I thought my eczema might improve with diet. So I ate a lot of "keto" or "paleo" foods because they really are just nature's natural food. I realized a LOT of my hunger was associated with habit and emotion. I realized if I try and keep my mind busy I dont even think about food, and when I do Im indirectly intermittent fasting!
A typical day for me starts with coffee no sugar (i like the taste tbh) and a splash of cream at about 630am.
At 8 or 10 depends on work, I will have an RxBar, they are AMAZING to curb hunger pangs. Because your body doesnt need immediate sustenance, you just need to be able to get your mind off food again.
I will continue to graze on like 300 cals worth of almonds or something until 1 or 2ish.
Then lunch! And that usually holds me over untill im off work at 7pmish and I eat something little if im hungry. Some days I would only eat 900 calories. I would eat something out of necessity because I think for a dude of my size thats severely unhealthy lol.

I started at 273 January 19th of this year. Back then i was eating 1600 calories per day now i eat 1200 a day. If i exercise ill eat back the exercise calories. So far
ive lost 60lbs5 -
I've lost 80+ pounds and have been maintaining for 5 years.
I average around 2500 calories. I look at my calories on a weekly basis so some days are lower then that and other days are higher. But at the end of the week it all balances out so I'm able to maintain my weight.
My main form exercise is both walking and strength training.13 -
45M, 5'9, 299 pounds. Down 25 pounds in the past year (16 pounds in last 6 weeks). I set my target at 2200 calories (40F/30C/30P). I've been losing 2-3# per week. My exercise is 10-12 miles walking/week, and I do not consume any of these calories.2

I eat between 1300-1450 calories a day, gym 5 times a week for elliptical and weights. I have lost 45 pounds in a little over 4 months.3

I eat 1300-1400 calories a day. I am a 47yo female. 5'9 and I have gone from 185 to 155 lbs in about three and a half months. I usually eat 3 small, healthy meals everyday (mostly chicken, green beans, egg beaters and fruit) and consume about a third of my calories on late night snacking. Total junk food - ice cream, cookies, etc. Obviously not the healthiest but I find that when I deny myself these things, I end up binge eating. I just plan my meals to allow myself those extra calories at night when my cravings hit. I never go to bed feeling unsatisfied and I continue to lose weight, so it works for me. I weigh/measure everything I eat so I can accurately log my calories. That is so important. I also eat a very low sodium diet (<1000mg/day) due to kidney issues, and I find that this definitely helps with water retention/bloating. I do 40 minutes of cardio (stepmill and treadmill) and 40 minutes of strength training 4 times a week.
Hopefully you can figure out what works for you!3 -
2000-2500 a day. I fast at least 16 hours a day. I e lost 28 pounds in the last 5-6 weeks.2

1530 calories a day, for aggressive effort. I've lost 15.8 pounds in 15 days. I know that is a lot very quickly. I just stay active, (not going out of the way to exercise, not yet) and monitoring my calorie intake. I started at 273, I'm 5'8 and 48 years old male. I'm doing this because I want to be able to stay adventurous and my weight was holding me back. I have a large bucket list, and unless I loose it, I won't be able to complete it. Oh, by the way, I'm also a heart patient. 12 stents, so that alone should be inspiration!1

From March 1 to Aug 1, I’ve:
Burned 1656.8 Resting Calories daily avg
Burned 601.8 Active Calories daily avg
Total Burned: 2258.6 Calories daily avg
calories consumed: 2055 daily avg
Net deficit: 203.6 daily avg
Lost 15 lbs, 3 lbs/month on average over the 5 months.
With my deficit, I should have lost 8.8 lbs.
(153 days x 203.6 calorie deficit / 3500 =
8.8 lbs)
I weigh everything I eat & track all. I have eaten out 4 times in that time period & tracked as accurately as I could (and probably over.)
I use AppleWatch for workouts & calories burned.
5’8.5” Female, older
Possibilities:
My resting metabolism is higher than Apple thinks? And/or my NEAT is?
3500 figure for calories/pound is not an exact number for all people?
I burn more calories when walking/exercising than my heart rate indicates?
Somehow I don’t absorb all the calories I eat?

I’m so partial to late night snacking too! Definitely works for me to allow this some days. I also have a cheat day once a week and eat what I want.
I stick to 1300cals 5-6 days with at least 3 workouts per week.
I’ve lost 30lbs in 3 months.

I worked my way down to 1200 calories, stayed there for a few months and when I came close to goal weight I went up again.
Kept losing weight despite being on suggested maintenance calories.
Currently maintaining at 2000 calories.
Good luck!

1770 and losing steadily, keeping it off this time.
Went from 231 to 148 on 1300 calories, was not sustainable, gained nearly 40 back over a few years. So here I am at 191. Taking it slow, making better choices, eating real food.7 -
~1500 calories + 50-75% of my exercise calories is my current eating guideline. So far I've lost a total of 185lbs.5

1400 plus most of my exercise calories. I’ve lost 38 pounds since January with 5-10 (maybe?) more to go.
I’m a 5’2.5” female.1 -
5’4.5” female
I went from 260 (2012) to 120 (2016) eating around 2000 calories a day on average (MFP Goal + 100% Fitbit adjustments).
Slipped up a bit in maintenance when I tried Trinessa Birth Control in 2017 (went back up to 143lbs). So I am currently losing about 0.5lb per week eating around 2000 calories a day.

30lbs lost, that was 5 years ago - to lose 0.5lb/week I ate an average of 1600 gross calories as I was pretty active. I maintain now on 1900. (I'm 5ft 2 / 49yrs)0
