One of my favorites is broiled brussels sprouts lightly drizzled with olive oil. Just about any vegetable pairs well with fish, IMO. Cauliflower, spinach, peas/carrots, various frozen veggie blends, okra, etc.1

Sweet potato wedges, stuffed mushrooms, roasted veg.3

The British have traditionally done Fish and Chips meals. Chicken and Chips is also quite common in other places. You could serve Cole Slaw with it for a change.0

Yes, as another Brit this was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title. Bare in mind, we call them chips - Americans call them fries.
So, for a treat, fish and fries with coleslaw...otherwise, as mentioned above, sweet potatoes, mushrooms or any roasted veg really. If that's too bland, consider a low fat sauce to garnish the vegetables,0 -
For tilapia or any other white fish-
mango salsa, black beans and avocado
For salmon-
roasted red potato with rosemary and garlic, sautéed spinach with pine nuts

White wine2

1) zucchini noodles 2) a salad of tomato, cucumber and red onion 3) grilled asparagus2 -

Ditto.
I especially like lentils, or lentils and spinach (together) as a side for fish. Okra and limas together, because that's how Mom did it. Asparagus is another good one.

How do you make the lentils?0 -

How do you make the lentils?
Simmer them in water until tender; they don't need presoaking and it doesn't take all that long (the directions are usually on the package). If I want to get fancy, I toss a bay leaf in the water, maybe a little chopped garlic or onion or carrot or celery. Toss the spinach in for a few minutes near the end so it wilts down. Drain. Hot sauce would not be amiss, although I wouldn't ordinarily add it if I was serving it with fish. Alongside fish, I prefer a freshly made lemon-pepper-olive oil dressing. You could do kale instead of spinach, but I would put that in nearer the beginning of the cooking (but it all depends on how you like your kale).0 -
Make fish tonight. Served it with a side of roasted squash and a simple green salad.0
-
Quinoa, peas, pasta, gnocchi.0

Samphire. Though I'm not sure it's in season anywhere at the moment.2

Last time I did white fish I had it with green veg and spiralised sweet potato (roasted with a few sprays of oil, cayenne, paprika, s+p). I made the sweet potato into a little nest and popped an egg yolk in there for the last 5-7 mins of roasting which was delicious but it's still good without!
Gnocchi and pesto is another fave of mine but it can be a bit heavy on the calories.0 -
The brits in this thread already suggested what I was thinking - chips! (fries)2

Tonight I did roasted brussel sprouts, pumpkin, cauliflower and broccoli with my fish. Just drizzled them with a bit of olive oil, pepper and nutmeg. The other members of the family who aren't as keen had roasted potato/sweet potato (a healthier version of fish and chips) and some steamed peas, carrot and corn.0

braised fennel is great with fish. Also oven chips (fries) made with celeriac instead of potato0

Depends how healthy you want it...
Now that it's summer, I love corn risotto. It works great with any protein but if you mix in some lump crab meat it will play with the fish really well. Serious Eats just posted a nice recipe for one last week (if you want to add crab, just fold it in with the corn at the end).0 -

Haha I was going to suggest rice & broccoli. How about grilled zucchini or roasted brussels sprouts with balsamic vinegar?0 -
I like to make fish tacos. Also, white beans with hamhock and hushpuppies if frying. Baked, I typically stick with grilled veggies as mentioned above. Instead of rice, perhaps some type of potato casserole, or just plain ol' Brit chips!0

I personally love making Tilapia into fish Tacos. Marinate the tilapia in lime, cumin and Olive Oil and then grill. Use Corn Tortillas and serve with a simple Mango salsa (mango, red pepper, red onion, fresh grilled corn off the cob and some cilantro - just a bit of frozen orange/pineapple juice -- amazing stuff and addicting too). Just some cabbage for crunch and sour cream with lime juice and cumin. Make it easier by just using a bottled Pineapple or Mango salsa, cabbage and sour cream. If you grill the corn tortillas they hold up better to the fish/salsa and won't fall apart.
Two good Summer side dishes are a cold kale salad - Kale shredded, mango, cranberries and a citrus dressing (I just use Olive Oil, some ACV and a bit of honey blended with garlic and honey mustard). Garnish with slivered almonds.
Another is Jicama Salad - Jicama, cucumbers (seeds cut out) and pineapple. Equal parts of all three and then with some Cilantro and Citrus dressing (similar to above, I like OJ/Pineapple a lot for this too). Just make sure that the Jicama isn't being refrigerated -- are you hearing me Kroger?? Refrigeration ruins Jicama. Turns it brown and nasty -- worthless if it's been refrigerated. It's a darn potato! You don't refrigerate potatoes!! (OK, Kroger produce vent over...).

I like to top my fish with a fruit salsa. I make mango or watermelon then serve it with a side of spicy quinuoa.0

spaghetti squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, hash browns, corn on the cob.0

Anything... I've been on a roasted veg kick. Just a mixture of whatever sounds good. This week, it's broccoli, carrots, red onion, mushrooms and zucchini. Baked potatoes. Fried potatoes. Salad. Pasta salad. Rolls. Cornbread.0

Hmmm part of me would say it depends on the fish - but another part of me would say absolutely anything!
Some favourites in our house:
Beetroot is great with oily fish like salmon and mackerel (and horesradish and dill also work very nicely with all 3 of those). For example, we might buy pre-cooked beetroot, grate it and dress with balsamic vinegar. Or I make fritters out of beetroot, carrot, potato and onion - grate them, squeeze out the water, bind with egg and I cook in my air frier or can be pan fried. The fritters are lovely with salmon - especially served with a little greek yoghurt mixed with crushed garlic and dill fronds.
Seabass is always fabulous with thai flavours, so marinate it and serve with stir fry veg (and rice/noodles if you wish). Salmon and prawns also work very well with stir fry - try pairing with teryaki or sweet chilli sauces, both easily available.
Cod or other white fish, we sometimes coat with curry powder and pan fry (good non stick pans can manage without oil!) and serve with a small amount of rice bulked out with mushrooms, chickpeas, onion and parsley (all boiled together in a little veg or chicken stock).
Tuna is very versatile and suited for piquant flavours, as well as being a meditteranean fish so suited to that style. So great with things like a home made pico de gallo, or with roasted/grilled mediterranean veg.
Haddock (smoked or otherwise) is classic with spinach - raw or wilted according to preference - and also works well with curry flavours (think kedgeree) so maybe experiment with spiced or curried vegetables - things like lentils, cauliflower, mushrooms, etc are obvious choices but be brave!
