If this were a concern surely they wouldn't be recommended for diabestics?! Do you have more info for the claim that they raise insulin levels? I've heard it before but only seen proof against it.
I’ve read it a few times on various websites and forums, I read that they made people drink Diet Coke and normal coke in some expeiriment and those drinking Diet Coke has raised insulin levels which is a scary though!
It sounds like the kind of fearmongering one would find from some quack such as Mercola.

I’ve always liked Coke more than Pepsi, but Diet Pepsi more than Diet Coke. I think I like Coke Zero because to me it tastes the closest to regular Coke. There is a flavor note in Diet Coke that just hits my tastebuds the wrong way and tastes “off” to me. I mean, I’ll drink Diet Coke if there’s no Zero around, it’s just not my first preference.
Lol the hyperbole was just me being cheeky. I don’t think there are any diet sodas that I actively dislike to the point that I would straight up refuse to drink it.

I'm not at all picky with diet sodas, although I do have preferences. There have been just two that I remember not being able to stand at all: diet RC and Zevia's "Doctor Zevia" (their take on Dr Pepper).0 -
I'm quite jealous of folks who can easily find Cherry Zero, especially by the single bottle in convenience stores. Diet Dr. Pepper is a little easier to find. I'd have one every day if cold single bottles were easily located.2

While I like Coke Zero with a splash of Orange, as it takes me back to the late 1980s in Germany where I could get Mezzo Mix, I’ve been on a Fresca kick the past month.

Insulin and glucagon expression and release are regulated on the basis of blood glucose level, not by your taste buds. People who have had their tounges cut out aren't suddenly diabetics incapable of insulin production.
Regardless can you explain why raised insulin levels are scary? I've heard people act like insulin is some sort of boogie man and I dont get it. Your body homeostatically regulates blood glucose levels because it is important for your cellular function to maintain a certain concentration of glucose.
When your blood glucose is too low your pancreas releases the hormone glucagon which triggers your cells to break down the storage molecule glycogen and liberate glucose into your blood. If your blood glucose is too high then your pancreas releases the hormone insulin which triggers your cells to uptake glucose from your blood and either utilize it for energy or store it as glycogen. That is it.
Having elevated insulin levels isnt scary...it just means your body is appropriately responding to your blood glucose level being too high. If that regulatory system is dysfunctional then you are diabetic...either because you cannot produce insulin (type I) or because your cells receptors dont bind insulin to transmit the signal for uptake (type II).20 -

Whether drinking diet soda increases insulin levels or not is not a matter of opinion it is a claim about objective reality....it is either true or false. How you or I feel about it doesn't matter.17 -

Weight loss is achieved by a Calorie Deficit resulting from the difference between your Calories In and your Calories Out. Diet Coke therefore should be okay, as it has almost no calories, and wouldn't hinder you from reaching a deficit.

On the subject of taste - which isn't really a debate but hey-ho - I like Pepsi max and Coke Zero.
I don't mind Diet Coke but not my preference as it does have more of a chemically taste to me.
I do not like non cola diet sodas as they all taste chemically. I think cola taste is stronger taste and covers this up more.
I also don't like flavoured colas - cherry, vanilla etc.
And I do remember a spearmint ( peppermint?) Coke a few years back,not sure if that is still around anywhere - tasted like a toothpaste and Coke combo

I love those zero calorie water flavorings that come in tiny squeezie bottles. It really helps with variety. Fruit punch, iced tea, kool aid, and all zero cal. Love it!1 -

Because the carbon dioxide and artificial flavors/sweeteners in flavored waters are so much healthier than the (identical) carbon dioxide and artificial flavors/sweeteners in diet soda.
Always makes me laugh when I see someone get all sanctimonious about soda, then say that they drink something like water flavored with Mio instead. Go read the ingredients in Mio and compare them to a can of diet soda, lol.24 -

Having high levels, also known as hyperinsulinemia, has been linked to obesity, heart disease and cancer (1, 2, 3). High blood insulin levels also cause your cells to become resistant to the hormone's effects.23 -

That's been made abundantly scientifically clear. Additionally, the person who responded to you above isn't some hack/quack blogger, he's a molecular biologist. Are you a molecular biologist as well?21 -
Well the post prior really did make it abundantly clear - and yet you still went on rabbiting down the same rabbit hole.
I can never see why some people find insulin spikes scary (and diet soda doesnt cause insulin spikes anyway) - but things like regular soda, jelly babies, bread, oranges etc do - and so they should.
The body releases insulin in response to glucose in the blood stream in order to regulate one's blood sugar level.
The problem for diabetics is not insulin spikes - it is the lack of natural insulin spiking in response to blood glucose.
I am not a molecular bioligist btw - just a nurse who has a basic understanding of blood glucose physiology.
and really, you only need a basic level of understanding to get this - it isnt a complex concept.14 -

How many diet cokes do you think it would take to create an insulin response and who do you think is drinking this much? Do you not think that these same people are more likely eating foods that are more likely responsible for this insulin response?8 -

Don't believe what you read on the internet. Many diabetics (including myself) have tested that theory and not a single one had their blood sugar rise after drinking a diet soda.10 -

I assume (1,2,3) is a citation list you didn't include and therefore I assume that was just copy paste from somewhere. Where are you copy pasting this from?
