Do people ever criticize the way you choose to eat?

Yep.
"Too much sugar"
"Too many carbs"
"You should eat breakfast"
"Why do you eat so late?"
Among others.12 -
Nope. Wow! Your homemade lunch smells delicious! It's amazing you're so busy and still eat better then we do!6
-
Yep! From both directions too...
"Gosh, that's enough food for 2 people!" (as I eat the whole thing)
"All that fat can't be good for you" (as I try reducing carbs and going keto)
"3 meals a day and snacks in between" (as I do intermittent fasting)
You gotta do you - and what works for you. What works for me might not work for someone else - and that's ok. Just smile and say "I have heard your feedback and will take it into consideration (now shut up about it)".13 -
Definitely.
“Really, you’re going to weigh that?”
“Are you sure you can eat that?”
“You shouldn’t eat so late.”
“Why are you eating **insert fast food item**? Do you know what that does to your body?”
“Diet soda makes you fat and has been shown to cause diabetes.”

This exactly except for the eating breakfast one.
I've also been told I need to eat a burrito because they thought I'd gotten too thin. I love compliments like that!5 -
Nope. I'm in pretty good shape, very healthy. I think most people just assume I know what I'm doing. Plus, they probably don't want to criticize my eating because they know I'll come back at them for their B.S. I call people out when they push nonsense at me.7
-
I get both good and bad comments. My chosen method of eating isn't the most popular, or most common, and certainly doesn't work for everyone, but it DOES work for me, and is working very well.
But since it's not what people are "used" to seeing or talking about, they can poo-poo it.
Others see the positives of it, how it is working, how it's easy for me to keep up, and they think it's great (even if it wouldn't work for them).3 -
Yup. I've had more than one person on here unfriend me over the contents of my food diary.12
-
No one would dare.10

I think my resting face looks like I might murder someone. I am rarely confronted about much of anything. My FiL tried it with me once and although he beats everyone else up on a regular basis about everything he thinks they do wrong he learned his lesson with me the one and only time.16

And this is why I keep my food diary private... what I eat or don't eat is my business.
But to answer the question - yes, I have had co-workers and even my wife tell me that I should or shouldn't eat some particular food.10 -
you're trying to lose weight and you're going to eat that?
yes, i ran 13 miles for fun today. i will demolish the vending machine bag of chips. and many other things26 -
People are shocked I use a food scale. Although I’ve been using one for years so I havnt heard a weird comment in a long time.3
-
Not that I remember. I've had kinfolks say I was too skinny, back when I was under 170. They weren't complaining about how or what I ate, just how much and how often.2
-
I don’t get why people would let someone else have that much power over them esp over food. I don’t care if ppl critique my food or suggest something to me because I know their either uneducated Or whatever it is it’s not that serious for me4
-
Ohhhh yeah. I get a lot of
- oh go ahead, you can have more than that
- come on, it's delicious!
- don't you want some? really?
- are you sure that's enough?
- you've got to be about at your goal weight by now, time to lighten up with the dieting!
I blithely go ahead anyway.4 -
I might have just criticized myself on how much garlic bread, garlic cheese rolls and half a piece of pizza I just ate. (Not in an I'm developing an eating disorder sort of way so don't worry, peeps. I know how you are. )10
-
Nope, not to my face at least.4
-
I am on the smaller side and people criticize whenever I make a seemingly 'healthy' choice. (according to the typical definition of such a thing, I don't think any food is unhealthy in moderation) people say
"You don't need to do that"
"put some meat on those bones"
"Eat a cheeseburger"
"Why do you eat like that? you're so thin!"
Like no, I feel like *kitten* when I eat that stuff too much. I will sometimes but definitely not gonna do it because someone is basically insulting me into it. I can maintain my weight or gain what i like with what I choose to eat and the amounts I choose.6 -
All the time.
"You eat too many carbs"
"You shouldn't eat fast food"
"You eat too late at night"
And on, and on, and on.. yet 99% of the criticism comes from those who've not had long term success in losing weight, yet I have.. but somehow I'm doing it wrong13 -

Yep,
Them: "How are supposed to lose weight eating that?"
Me: "I make room in my calorie budget"
Them: "Ohh, that works?!?!? How did you do that?"
Me: "I ran 5 miles this morning, and I'm going to my hard workout this evening"
Them: "Oh" with a look of defeat10 -
Not to my face. I’d shred them. It’s no one’s business but mine what I eat.6
-
Yes. It seems that whatever job I have had, my coworkers chime in on how bad diet pop is and that it makes people fat. I have been drinking it for ages and won't give it up.3

Just sounds like the person was uneducated to me and ignorant on how weight loss works. Idk why ppl automatically get on defence mode or think people are trying to battle them when they are simply asking questions.4 -
Not and live.
LOL9 -
Not really.
I eat pretty normally and eat most of my meals at home.
My dd sometimes dislikes food I make but she is not criticizing me eating it.

My boss comments on anything I eat.
One time I had a sandwich with alfalfa sprouts, and she said it was like eating pubic hair.
