Do people ever criticize the way you choose to eat?

yup: "they say that's too fattening" "you shouldn't be eating that" "oh, c'mon you can have a piece" "you can't eat like this the rest of your life", "you have to exercise" " you're carrying this too far"0

I get told I shouldn't deconstruct my food i.e either eat veg, then potato the meat on a sunday dinner or that when eating a kit kat I shouldn't eat it sides first then de-layer it.
not so much types of food though. More just 'stop playing with your food'
There's another way to eat a kit kat?
How about dividing m&ms by color, and then eating them down until every group has the same number, and then one at a time from worst to best color? Too much? (If only I still ate m&ms this way, maybe I never would have gotten fat... took a long time. )9 -

Sorted by colour then eaten two at a time, one on each side, then try to match up the oddball left overs as best as possible. If there is one left over, bite it in half.6 -
yeah happens all the time0

I started a M-F job in a doctor's office almost a year ago, so I started doing meal preps on Sundays, chicken and a veggie. I don't like to cook, so this is easy - slow cooker - and I don't have to think about it when I'm hitting the gym before work - just throw one and a few other goodies in my lunch bag and go. My coworkers, even now, are still fascinated by this and ask the dumbest questions. This, while they're going out every day and eating all fast food from local places. I'm not against fast food, but I know the calories and macros of what they're having just for lunch, would give me about 100 calories for the rest of the day, so no thanks. And it's expensive. I don't comment on their choices, so I'd love not to hear about mine.

Yes, I don't eat pork, veal or lamb. My reasons are my own and I don't get up on a soapbox about it, but sometimes people will challenge me. They ask is it for health or moral reasons? Why do I eat chicken and turkey if I don't eat these other "meats". It's like they want to get into a debate about it. Why can't I eat what I want? So when I'm asked I now say "they just don't appeal to me" and change the subject.4

My CDO people... I don't feel sooo alone! Lol i also wanted to add, people at my work ask me why I eat sweet potatoes while trying to maintain a weight loss. I tell them they are good and about caloric density. I usually get a blank look while they eat their "healthy" energy bars. Then eat their lunch. When did the war begin on potatoes? I will have to keep my EYES on this.4 -
Christ yes. At work people say I don’t eat enough. On MFP people say that I eat too much processed foods. Everyone has a *kitten* opinion.0

Yes. They say fruit or carbs or dairy are bad. I eat a ton of fruit and dairy, I feel great, and lose weight. So I will continue to eat what I like.2

Wow, this is pretty much how I eat all of my food! Sometimes instead of biting the odd ones in half I’ll just give them to my husband. He also knows never to give me uneven amounts of anything, or anything that the colours don’t match up.1 -
No, but if they tried I would say: None of your business what I eat.0

I get more people who knew me when I was 80 pounds overweight curious about what and how much I'm eating.
For example during holidays and sit down dinner events I have some people staring at my plate and seeing if I go back for seconds etc.
Or people get mad at me because I don't eat salads and rice cakes all day and I really do eat regular food and a lot of it and still stay fit.
But they don't see the hard work I put into myself. They may not notice that I'm not drinking calories. They don't see my food journal or how I plan what I'm going to eat ahead of time (if possible). They don't know that I might have saved up most of my calories for the day for that dinner.
I have had people that tease me about not eating meat, not drinking alcohol or the way I eat (I tend to eat large meals then I stop, I don't snack or graze).
It doesn't bother me though. I'm happy with what and the way I eat and my results. I do find it has more to do with other people's insecurities and that's not my problem.12 -
I had someone make some rude and odd comments over the single lime that appears quite often in my diary. They assumed it was part of some woo diet plan and informed me, in a very nasty manner, how eating a lime doesn't do anything for weight loss. I simply replied with a picture of my infuser water bottle: it's water and a cut up lime for flavor. 🙄15

Just curious.
All the time. I eat pretty well and I eat a lot, because I do a lot. But it's worked for me as ive lost 140lb and kept it off for a year. I've had contents such as:
You should go keto to lose even more : I was losing around 10lb/month at that point and enjoying my carbs.
Do you ever stop eating? : er yes when I'm full, I can burn anything up to 4000 Calories total in a day, that means I get to eat lots but I can only eat so much at once
You can't eat that chocolate/ Ice cream/cake: see above I need a lot of calories and even if I didn't I would make room for those.
You need to eat meat for protein if you're lifting : really, haven't had meat in over a year and I generally have no problems hitting my protein goals.

I criticize myself... My eating/binges can get quite ridiculous3

Not to my face in quite a while. I don't suffer BS quietly, lol.1

Not so much with the horrible food. Like it's fine for me to down a whole pizza and a two liter coke on my own, because that's just what people "my size" do. But I try to eat healthy and it's some kind of crazy thing to do because I'm too far gone or something for it to even matter.4

People do this?! That's horrifying. Who has the time to look at someone else's diary anyway? I sure don't nor do I care (unless they're talking about an amazing dish they made or a product they tried but that's usually on the feed, not the diary). This kind of behavior is why I can count on one hand the friend invites I've sent out and I am very careful of the ones I accept.
People have commented on my eating habits since I was born. XD Growing up, I hated almost all food. I didn't like eating, food was gross, and so I would spend a LONG time meticulously picking out the grody things from my dinner/lunch/etc. I can still spot an onion within a 10 mile radius and I got good at surreptitiously picking out the things I didn't like. It's amazing how quickly the pile of discards adds up!
Nowadays, I'm much better (changing my diet / losing weight made me adventurous enough to start trying things I didn't like). I can eat salads and such. So I went from hating 90% of all food to hating only about 60% of food. I can eat the same thing ad nauseum and be happy. I would love a food pill that gave me everything and let me supplement with what I like. XD
But I grew up with comments like "You eat like a bird!" "JUST EAT IT!" "There she is, picking at her food again." "You're so picky!" It got to where I would be defensive and make the jokes first. Hahaha, I'm the pickiest person alive, hahahaha. If I laughed, it wouldn't hurt so bad, yeah?
I've never gotten comments on what I eat in conjunction with my weight largely because a) I didn't gain weight until after college and b) no one would be catching me eating much of anything or c) be distracted by the fact that I had to deconstruct it, pluck all the grody stuff off, and then reconstruct it into perfect yumminess.
Unless someone is eating glass or poison or choking or some other immediate emergency situation, what they consume is no one's business!

Not recently. Perhaps other people know that I don't care what they think.2

My husband used to but not anymore. My sibling thinks I'm being a moron by counting calories and tracking what I eat because "you can be healthy at any size"0
-
A sharp direct slap across the face corrects this behavior immediately, followed by verbal command...NO!6

My husband does, but only because I do the cooking and occasionally like to try new things, or include things that you may not find on the McDonald's menu, and he hopes that by complaining he'll never have to eat tofu/fish/orange vegetables again. I pretty much ignore him and carry on with what I want to do. If he wants to eat something different, he's welcome to cook it himself.
My kids are also shocked and horrified when I eat things like sushi, or try to force them to eat non-deep fried foods, but again I'm quite happy to ignore them. Although they don't have the option of cooking for themselves, they either shut up and eat it, or starve.6 -
I've been vegetarian since I was 18 . . . 44 years . . . since 1974. No one in my family was vegetarian. Few of my friends have been vegetarian.
Has anyone ever criticized the way I choose to eat? Heh.
Doesn't seem to have had much effect, though.3 -

Youre a good Mom and wife......how else are they to ever learn?3 -

If my husband complained about my cooking at all I would suddenly start making meals for one. You don't like the meals, you cook for the family.6 -
I get "eat a donut, already" I eat the way my body wants to eat, I eat a lot of food that I enjoy. Yes, I could eat that donut and then not have enough room to eat all of the stuff I love and enjoy. I just smile and move on.2

Yes, my main criticism comes from my dad and my auntie who, although I love them dearly, are overweight binge drinkers (ouch that sounds harsh out loud, but it's the truth).
I don't really drink alcohol as I don't enjoy it and I don't eat meat, but will sometimes eat fish when eating out if it is easier for the host to prepare than vegetarian food (this seems to be very common), and this for some reason BAFFLES them. I never make it a thing, and I don't ever criticise what they're eating but for some reason the fact I don't want to eat a meat dish when we go out is alien to them.
To bamboozle them further, the fact I even think about calories and nutritional composition makes me a monster.
I usually just smile at them and make no comment, after all, I don't really care what they think about my food. However, one time I did politely say that what I eat makes literally no difference to their lives and I don't particularly want to end up with high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes like they have. They didn't like that response so much6
