Silly little 4 mile round trip to the gym on my hybrid today but it meant I've hit 4,000 miles for the year.
A goal of 5,200 by end of the year has a certain appeal.

I like your way of thinking

    @hadirk

    Strava.
I link my Garmin Edge to Strava for "serious" rides and just use the (free) phone app for local rides.

I've been like a bear with a sore head the last few days in the run up to my biggest event and training goal for the year (Velo South closed roads Century) as the weather forecast changed from almost perfect to awful.

It's now been cancelled due to:
    – Constant wind speeds as high as 38mph (just think of those wind assisted PR's!)
    – Wind gusts as high as 53mph
    – Heavy rain throughout the event

Sensible to cancel as it would have been carnage but it's disappointing. I've now booked myself a 5 day cycling holiday in SW England otherwise I would feel all my training has been pointless.
Should be fun as it's a new region for me to explore.

Found this cool bridge crossing on a new trail.

    u5upmvhaa7l0.jpg

    Stats for this year

    Mountain Biking
    Total Distance (miles) 277
    Elevation gain 39,035 ft
    Time 38 hours 57 minutes

This doesn't include the two days riding at bike parks since I was riding the lift up the mountain each time. Didn't want to cheat or forget to track.

    Running
    Total Distance (miles) 59 miles
    Elevation gain 793 ft
    Time 6 hours 38 minutes

I quit running for about 5 months because my knees were bothering me but started just jogging again a couple days a week because I was missing it. My goal is to hit 400 miles on my bike by the end of the year. Next year I want to break 500 miles on my mountain bike.

Not a great week for me, 3 shortish rides for 84 miles. 497 miles for the month. Strava climbing challenge will be difficult now with the cancellation of my Century ride. You have a big lead on me @awinner_au as I'm at 6173m of the 8,000 goal.

There's some astonishing numbers on top of the challenge leader board (#1 = 82,000m) - are they using motorbikes?

One ride was indoors due to the weather and it was a rude shock training inside after many months - so dull. :(
Good news is that my gym has added 3 more Wattbikes, bad news is that they have taken away the fans - there was a small lake under my bike after 70 minutes. A power meter does add another dimension to training, quite pleased with my power in Zone 3.

Last ride outdoors was distinctly chilly and I had to rummage through my kit to find two long sleeve jerseys and warm gloves.

@sijomial There is a guy at my club that i know who had 2 weeks off and rode his bike everyday just around Sydney. He has clocked up 30,000m so far this month, who knows what he could have done if he had a month off and lived somewhere really hilly.

    The guy coming second though this week 68.2Km, 3h 36m 57,376 m. Not a motorbike, heli-cycling?
