Been doing it a couple weeks. I so want bread and starch so bad!
But I'm fighting it one day at a time. ☺ Doing it for my blood sugar and to lose weight.
I'm tired of eggs in the morning though, so sometimes I just settle for coffee. My stomach is growling right now though! 😁 keep growling. 😛 I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm finding it harder to stay on track. So starting today I am going to start exercising in the mornings and tracking. Keeping myself in check that way and posting in the forum. Feel free to comment. Keep me accountable! ☺

Why don't you pick a diet that is easier for you stick to?16

If you go to youtube and look for keto bread recipes you can find lots of things that won't spike your insulin. Depending on how low carb you are you could also do things like oats with berries.
Once you start logging everything you can be more flexible with fiber-rich foods without the fear of not knowing if you are within your macros.
If you join the low carb group you can post your questions there and maybe get better answers.

I feel your pain! I've been trying to do low- carb(not Keto) since April. Sometimes I make a bunch of egg muffins with assorted things like broccoli, spinach, etc on the weekends and then I can just grab and go on work mornings. Other times I micro-wave egg substitute with spinach. If I am in a real hurry I end up grabbing an Atkins shake.0

Have been on Keto for 2 months - like you I became tired of eggs and I really need my coffee so I started using Perfect Keto Collagen (vanilla) as my coffee sweetener/creamer. It is very tasty - 1 scoop has 80 calories, 1g of carbs, 10g of protein and 5000mg of MCT. That is now my breakfast most of the time. But celery and beef jerky are always standbys or the good old boiled egg. Keep logging and tracking it will pay off

@silverstar65 my first two weeks were hellish four years ago when started Low Carb Way Of Eating at the age of 63 to see if it would help manage some of my health issues.
The physical carb cravings started to fade fast after the first 2 weeks and my binging was gone in about a month along with my high pain levels. Yes I still have memory of what carbs taste like but I have not "had to" stop at Dairy Queen for a banana split it 4 years now.
It is the freedom to eat the way that is best for my long term health that keeps me eating Low Carb.

I don't do low carb, but just wanted to urge you to play around with the foods you eat, whether it's your protein & fat & fiber ratio, meal timing, etc to find a plan that is easy to stick to. There are also lots of different "levels" of low carb, so maybe you are aiming for a little lower than is best for you. The biggest benefit of low carb is that for some people it makes sticking to a lower calorie level easy. It's never a good idea to lose weight in a way you have to struggle through, otherwise you are much more likely to quit or struggle to maintain. Hope you get lots of tips!11 -

Google the recipe for 90 second bread. It's fast, simple and low carb. I add a little ground psyllium husk to the recipe & a pinch of salt & 1/2 tsp powdered stevia so that it tastes more like traditional bread. This recipe has the closest texture to real bread that I've tried. I like it freshly made, not toasted. Don't forget to use bulletproof coffee to help with hunger. I put in 1 TBSP coconut oil and 1 tsp butter. I also add either 1 tsp powdered stevia or I choose a sugar-free flavored syrup like salted caramel or hazelnut which you can buy on Amazon. Fat will help with the hunger. Sunflower seed kernals, walnuts, almonds. I buy my almonds smoked (walmart) or lightly salted (any store) and that helps give me my sodium as well. I used riced cauliflower for my rice (and I don't even like cauliflower). Zucchini zoodles for my pasta. You can buy both premade in the freezer aisle or very simply make your own. Youtube is a great source for recipes as you can watch them make it. Also there are a LOT of wonderful websites out there that can give you great ideas. Best of luck to you!
BTW- that is not true about Dairy Queen Banana splits or any other of their menu items. You can look up their nutritional information online.

When going low carb it makes it easier if you increase your fat intake. It is not required for low carb but is required for keto. It really helped curb any cravings I would have expected to have.3

The diary doesn't calculate net carbs. You can find entries in the database that have the net carbs rather than the total carbs, or you can rearrange columns so the fiber is right next to the carbs and you can figure it out in your head.2 -

Well, I suck . I was doing really well keeping my carbs below 20 . Till today , I couldn't leave the french bread alone. Made myself a cheese and turkey sandwich on french bread. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I got this! Before anyone says, I would keep the bread out of my house, but other people live there and buy it. ugh!3

You may want to consider getting more sodium. When you lower carbs you need more salt and that sometimes manifests as hunger.3

OP, life is full of temptation and sometimes it's ok to cave. We can treat ourselves responsibly. I've found that the trick is keeping my treats in moderation. By denying myself bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes I make myself miserable. I also eat low carb to keep blood sugar in check but I just aim to be under 100 g for the day. With that allowance I keep my blood sugar in check and still get to enjoy carbs. Tonight I ate 7.6 glorious ounces of sweet potato with 60 g of sour cream with my dinner. It was delightful.
My advice is to pick a low carb level that works for you. If you are looking to lose weight and watch your blood sugar then you can eat to your meter. I know that I can have 7.6 ounces of sweet potato and still pull a good reading. I could not eat that same amount of carbohydrate in bread because it sends my sugar soaring. We are all so different--eat to your meter. It will tell you what you can eat and stay within your health goals.4 -

Ask yourself if you really just don't want to lose weight. It sounds absurd, of course it does, but think about it. The dynamics in social relationships changes when someone loses weight. Gaining weight can be seen as a punishment for the "sin" of eating too much, or eating enjoyable food, and sins must be confessed, and the act must be punished. Dieting can become a hobby, an obsession, and is often social glue - have you seen how many posts there are with people "confessing" to eating this or that, or boasting about what they have resisted, or eaten a "yummy healthy" meal? What do you and your colleagues talk about at lunch? Expectations of what you should be able to do, how you will look and be perceived, once you lose weight, can be scary and unrealistic. Eating is enjoyable, setting boundaries means saying no to pleasureable things. Helplessness can feel good, because it reminds us of when we were children, when someone helped us. Having rules that make you resentful just makes you want to break them. None of these issues are things we like to think about or admit, but to change habits permanently, we need to challenge our assumptions and change our mindset, and that can be difficult, but it's a positive and meaningful difficult task.4 -
I’ve been low carb for a little over a month. I tried a few different Keto bread recipes but honestly didn’t find them very satisfying. I’m on a 1350 calorie diet, I’d much rather eat a giant buffalo chicken, bacon and avocado salad then a small piece of fake pizza, but that’s just me.
Here is my absolute favorite snack, Parmesan cheese crisps, we make them with just 1/2 teaspoon of cheese in mini muffin pans and bake until crispy. Make a few trays at a time because you can eat a ton of them!!! Perfect little cracker for dipping.
Also I don’t eat breakfast on Keto, I’m not hungry until lunch time. Just 2 cups of coffee with heavy cream and pyure stevia .

Thank you all for the ideas and letting me know it's okay to fall of the wagon perse' once in a while. AND yes, I know my blood sugar spiked because of it. Don't have test strip right now but carbs always makes it spike to 200. If I stay away from , keep it low I can keep my sugar at 130 or less. I do want to shed at least 30 more pounds also. I want back into my skinny jeans! Thanks for the support!1

As an avid runner 5 days a week and box once a week, just wondering where anyone gets energy to workout with cutting carbs? I find the days I haven't had as many carbs as I usually do, I seem to run out of energy half way through my run and feel more tired than usual. When I have a regular carb day, I can run all day and feel great. Maybe instead of worrying about cutting carbs, try and keep your total calorie intake to what fits you best. I've been sticking to my 1800 calories a day and along with my workouts, I stay at my weight I want to stay at eating what I want. Wouldn't hurt to try something different to see if it works. This may not work for everyone, but it may work for you.3

If you keep your carbs around 100-150 grams per day you can eat starches like potato, rice, etc with blood sugar problems. That is about 2-3 pieces of fruit and 2-3 servings of starch. This is still low carbs. But, you will feel more satiated with a little bit of carbs. The problem is if you are low but not very low you are kind of playing in and out of ketosis which is a problem. Therefore the lower limit of 100 grams but if you don't overeat carbs your liver and muscles will be able to quickly absorb the carbs hence keeping your blood sugar low. Also helps to eat the starch with a meal to slow digestion.1

OP you may also find that losing weight helps to control your blood sugar as well and you might be able to increase your carb intake. I previously lost (and unfortunately gained back) 50 lbs about two years ago. I was able to cut my diabetes medication by 75% while still having the same carb allowance. If I would have kept going I am curious to see if I could have increased my carb intake.
Remember to let your meter (and other health markers) be your guide. I personally have trouble with my blood sugar if I eat too little carbohydrate--my liver seems to enjoy dumping glucose into my blood stream to compensate. I find that eating a little more carb (about 100 g) but spreading it throughout the day is very helpful!

I agree by cutting the bread carbs and often times the pasta carbs out that is a tremendous assist in keeping the blood sugar numbers below the 130-140 mark. I know because that is pretty much me these days. I am staying away from grains. But I do work in my carb allotment which is 45-50 per day the treats and for me that is popcorn, and from time to time sweet potatoes 4 oz, and my real favorite low fat frozen yogurt. Not often, but enough so that I do not go hog wild. I know at 45-50 carbs it does work. Because I went from a AC1 reading of 11.4 to 6.6 from April 2018 to September 2018. So cutting back on specific type of carbs, calories overall, and more exercise, oh and 60 pounds of flab. Have been a huge help. And so you had one day you had bread that is no big deal at all, one meal. You know what to do. Lots of options, and the Parmesan crisps are fantastic I am lazy I buy in stores.2
