Less Alcohol - October 2018 - One Day at a Time

I'm now a week in AF and I'm wondering how long it will take before the different types of alcohol I've drank will finally fall off my "recents" list of foods in my food log. So far, they're all still there.3

I would think as you add more new items you'll see them less. I stopped seeing after a week.. or maybe they are too far down now. I'm going to have to look now0 -
Nope. I don't see any of the alcohol entries anymore. For me, those entries were from last time I used MFP, a few years back.
I did see them under recents when I started using the app again a few weeks ago, but now they aren't there..1 -
Day 5 complete with no cravings. Day 6 is underway.
TMI question:
Anyone else less regular when they don’t drink?
Hmm, can't remember what happened at first, but that does seem likely. When I drank cider a lot, I used to have diarrhea every day.
Things were pretty normal drinking beer and Prosecco while losing weight, though as I got closer to goal instead of 'going' as soon as I got up, it shifted to after breakfast.
Now I'm not drinking so many calories, I have more calories and appetite for food, fruit and veg - lots of fibre - so I go a lot!

@beka3695 there is ethanol in booze and the ethanol revs up the digestive process, which is why you have the urge to go. Take that away and your digestive system is back to needing good healthy sources to " move".

Last night went extremely well for my planned alcohol day. Keeping to my two drink limit by dinner. Then we went to a dance club for two hours to hear a great band. At the club I had a beautiful rocks glass filled with ice and pink lemonade, a cocktail stirrer and an orange garnish. Two of those in fact!
I woke up with a headache this morning but NOT a hangover. We are having an Indian summer and my sinus/allergies are reeking havoc in my head and causing the sinus headache. Ugh.
Do something wonderful for yourself today even if it is insignificant to others. You deserve it.

Now I get @beka3659, because of @MissMay 's response. Yes, I was much more regular drinking. I thought you were talking about menstrual cycle irregularities!

BHAhahahaha.....I thought the same thing with our woman cycles when I read it early yesterday. And I thought there was no reason to respond since THAT SHIP HAS SAILED for me years ago. Then I read @Orphia post from last night and it clicked.
This is GOOD, keeps us alert and on our toes. ROTFL 😅
And thanks @jhilkene.
My road has been long and very bumpy especially the beginning of 2018. But I have a firm hold of the reins now and WILL NOT travel down that excessive trail again.4 -
Day 6 - no cravings, but still no pooping
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am currently detoxing from multiple things and feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. I sure hope this passes soon!!!4 -

October and 1 week down. I seem to be copying Septembers same pattern with consumption which is beyond excitable for me.
Plan is on having AF days right up to Oct 26. That long streak of AF right in the middle of the month has helped considerably.
Tracking, writing down and planning all keep me in focus.
I know some people say it is to much work and they don't want to put the energy into having to "think" about not drinking or keeping track of AF days. For me the visual of seeing my AF days verses an adult beverage day is hard fact accountability.
It is Columbus Day here. Still plenty of tourists in town before we go into dormant stage for the Winter.
Enjoy~1 -
Well I decided to introduce a little bit of alcohol again at weekends to see how I do. Normally I can't stop once I've started. On friday I had 2x125ml glasses of wine. I sipped them slowly and left the rest of the bottle in the fridge with no desire to finish the bottle. I could feel that I'd had wine the next morning though. I had 125ml wine on saturday night, and a Bailey's Almande miniature. Again, I savoured them, and it was enough. I had a glass of sloe gin last night. I won't drink again throughout the week. I love the fact that I now feel in control again. If I start feeling like I'm losing control, I'll cut it out completely for a while again. In the meantime I'll continue to post my progress here. It's so reassuring to know there are others who understand and are going through the same. x11

I elected to do the "Go Sober in October" challenge we have running here in the UK, much to the chagrin of my local pub landlord .
I actually haven't had a drop since 29th September now, when i had a sip of champagne at a wedding.7 -
After my Friday night Wine fest I am drinking 0 alcohol... I'm a social drinker so maybe twice a month.. Should be fine...2
-
Hello's go out to @GrahamUK72 and @Bellavita32 .
That is a great streak so far since September 29th. Is that Sober October on MFP or something just going on in UK?
Bella, love your plan already. Any fest can be overwhelming. Glad your in here.0 -
I'm doing a #Clean14 2-week eating plan from The Clean Eating Magazine. No Grains, Refined sugar, Preservatives and additives, Refined oil, or Alcohol (EVEN WINE).6

The carry-out sushi was murmuring "white wine...white wine...white wine...", which is why I drank an entire pot of jasmine tea on an 85 degree day. Sometimes AF really sucks.
My clothes fit now. Sometimes AF is really nice.
Day 113. I love me, which is why I'm doing this.17 -
@forestdweller1 you have that 😇 - 😈 thing going on. So much credit goes out to you for those 113 days AF.
P.S. Don't listen to the sushi! Lol
@SpanishFusion way to go on the clean eating. Hope those two weeks fly by fast.2 -
I had a victory yesterday. I really wanted a glass of wine but there was none in the house. So I refused to leave the house and make a special trip to get it. I just went without, ignored the craving. It feels good to be ok with drinking but not rearrange my life/schedule to acquire it. From now on I’m only going to buy 1 bottle at a time so that I’m making a very conscious decision when to buy or open a new bottle.10

Another day clean!!! I'm now on an 9 day roll!!!11

I just got married this last weekend and don’t go on the honeymoon until 11/3. I think I’m going to plan on no drinks until honeymoon. I mean, I can’t be sober for that!!7

Well one learning experience and one thing to celebrate:
This past weekend on my allowed drinking day I decided to go back to drinking some craft beers, I have switched to Miller Lite all year. Although delicious tasting, my body cannot handle those heavy, higher alcohol beers anymore. My stomach was all messed up.
I have a wedding this weekend so I was going to take my sports coat to get dry cleaned. I decided to try it on - it was HUGE. Sticking to my health goals - eating right, working out regularly and switching to light beer only once a week has paid off!14 -
I had my second planned day off on Tuesday when out for a curry night, which means I'm now due to be AF until at least 24th Oct - that time includes at least one pre-planned social pub visit which will be the real test.
Otherwise all is going well - as well as 19 out of last 21 days being AF, I have also gone without caffeinated drinks for the last 13 days and have been running 5 days per week. Definitely feeling healthier, even if energy/sleep levels have still not normalised.7
