I am in for another 10% increase on last month's mileage of 67. So for November the goal is 74 miles, with a stretch goal of 100 miles. Hopefully will kick this cold soon enough to get rolling.

What have I done for my tomorrow self?
Thats a hard question. Who came up with this horrible reflective question that forces me to look at everything i haven't done.
I suppose dispite my frustrations with injury and diet i have at the very least, stayed plugged in to, and surrounded myself with positive influences. (Yes y'all) Yet i continually fail to implement changes for any length of time.
I do feel I've made gains with some strength and less pain this year. I'm mixed about what feels to be the potential chronic injury issues and the lack of running gains. So, quantifying what actually is progress- I'm at a loss.
Short answer. I've made baby steps in injury management. I've learned a lot along the way and had the answers to help a few others manage or find answers to their similar issues.
What am i going to change? Nothing i truly dont want to. I need to recognize that pattern. If you didnt get up to go run, then you didnt want it. If you had ice cream and potato chips for dinner, you didnt want to be healthier. If you dont do it then i need to see that i gotta get to wanting it before change will happen.6 -

@kgirlhart That is an amazing accomplishment losing so much weight and keeping it off. Very inspiring to me. I am so sorry to hear about your step-niece. Wow! That is very tragic, especially for her children.
I am turning 45 near the end of the month, so I will set my monthly goal for 45 miles (being in a metric country, I reserve the right to downgrade to kilometres if things go askew lol, but I figure I'm due for a couple of uneventful months).12 -

As far as I can tell Rock n Roll Vegas never changed me from marathon to half. So I don't think my bib/corral is correct. Ughhhhhh 😫😩7

What in the world have you done for your tomorrow self this year? Done done. Not gonna do. Not gonna get done honey. DONE.
Well aside from all the running and eating well, I started taking piano lessons again at the beginning of the year to ensure I play every day and help keep my brain alive and working well into old age.9 -
Happy November - for those of us here already (@ContraryMaryMary, @orphia lol)
Rest day today. I still had sore tight muscles, mostly in my hips, after my training run on Saturday, so last night was a good yoga stretch and roll on the roller. My legs and hips feel better but my lower back is still tight, I'll work on that tonight.
This month will be crazy busy for me. This weekend is helping a friend build a chicken coop, next weekend is a study day I organise every year, then HM, then a wedding, then my birthday!! Whew
Have you thought of seeing an osteopath? I swear by them for helping ease the niggles that you will accumulate simply from running all those kilometres. Well worth it before Kerikeri (and after too).
Oh yes, and a pinch and a punch!3 -

Definitely something I'm thinking of. We have one just around the corner from me. I think Ill give it a couple more days and see how I feel. I get this from time to time, usually lasts a week then suddenly goes. or I might sneak in and get a physio session at work given he is just across the hall from me, and free! lol0 -
@kgirlhart So sorry to hear about your step niece. That is so sad, and exponentially worse leaving behind the kids.2

For tomorrow me and for today me, I have started running again. See there's this group of people that help keep me accountable and inspire me, sometimes enabling my need for sanity through running. you guys!
I have also started taking more time to find work-life balance. My parents moved closer, dad had cardiac surgery this year(nothing major but ended up in cardiac ICU for 36 hours) and so I was able to take the time to be there both for the surgery, and then when he had to stay I called my boss and told him it would be a few days before I came back to town. For a long time I would have felt guilty about doing that, but had no issues at the time or since with it. Monthly trips to check in with my folks have become the norm, and dad was my biggest fan(and my only one as mom had church stuff she couldn't get out of, but she still managed to be there before the race for a pep talk and hug) at the HM last weekend.11 -
I met my October nominal mileage goal on October 31, and I performed very well indeed versus my October real goals. Now, for November . . . checks crystal ball, still cloudy . . . I have 4 races scheduled, 2 of which are high profile team cross country events. Race with Grace is a Thanksgiving Day tradition, and while I want to do well my results will have no major impact. Syracuse Half looked like an important race when I signed up, but now looks much less important. So . . .
Nominal November mileage goal: 160 miles
Real Goals: Avoid injury. Run well in the Pete Glavin XC series. Have fun at the Syracuse Half and Race with Grace 10K. Build base toward the start of Boston training.

I learned to say "no" to some of the running goals I'd like to work on. I can't do everything, and trying to do everything is a road to injury.
I learned to listen to my body better, a skill that I hope will help with future injury avoidance.
I learned to manage a marathon well, finishing 2 of them with injury. Then I gave my future self permission to run New York in 2019.
. . . and a few non-fitness things. Financial management, a bit of de-cluttering, a small bit of home maintenance. Those last two need more attention.9 -

Recommitted to an exercise program I hope will result in a positive change to the way I live out whatever time I have remaining and have an influence for good on those with whom I come into contact.6 -

I think the biggest thing I have done for both my tomorrow and today self is the same - I RETIRED! My DH was supposed to retire first and decided to keep working (he is past retirement age) and I decided I couldn't keep my sanity if I continued working until my retirement age, so I retired early and he finally did a few months later. Now we are going on fun trips and working on our house and I have much less stress! Now if I can just get my foot feeling better and get running again!14 -

I keep failing to meet my goal, so I'm cutting it back to 186 miles this month. Even then, that might not happen.
My plan is to run the Route 66 Marathon (Tulsa) as my last race this year. Then I'm going to switch to losing body fat / trying to lean out before next year. I'll probably run during the last half of the month after switching, but will be slower and might even end up cutting back.7
