How do you de-stress?

My goal is to start de-stressing. I have 3 kids (6,3,2) and the toddlers are.... well.. they're walking little germy stress balls for me. Basically just being normal toddlers.
The stress caused me to have chest pains which scared the bejeezus out of me before knowing that it was stress related.
Was just curious what everyone does to relieve their stress?
I plan on doing crafts that I love. Like crocheting, or making cute little crafty things. Stuff I loved doing before but just let everything else get in front of.

Lift heavy things put them back down. Alone time with the hubby.

For me running and cycling are the thing to do. My coworkers think that exercise caused me to lose weight. They don't understand that exercise helped me reduce stress that contributed to overeating. I can go hammer out 30 miles on the bike and the world is round and beautiful again when I get home.25

Same for me. It's not just the calories I burn, it's all the stress eating I avoid.12 -
I run and then after take a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine18

I like to wake up between three and four am and read a bit then at 4:30am go out for a run and maybe stop by the gym. It gives me time alone to get in a zone and figure out what needs to be done today. I get that kind of high and stress relief. At 6;00 am I am ready for breakfast and my day to start all over again.9

Paddling, fishing, hiking and other outdoor pursuits. I hate winter; going in to high stress season now. And it kicks off with the ever stressful holidays...12

I hear ya about the kids! 3 kids here too (and one on the way) and the stress is crazy.
After my third I had horrible postpartum anxiety and lifting heavy was honestly all that got me thru it.
I love lifting and it is a major priority in my life.

OP, if you have some time for you when the kiddos are at school, nursery or taking a nap, check some exercise DVDs or UT videos (yoga recommendation is a good one!). Even 1/2 hour for yourself with moderate activity would be beneficial. You can ask the toddlers to exercise with mommy. It would be fun for them and hopefully for you too.
Check for gyms or a YMCA with child care; just a couple of days a week to distress will be very helpful and something to look forward to.
Depending on your family situation, and if your husband is able to help (and hopefully he is), leave the kids with him and go for a walk in the neighborhood or to a near by park. At least take one day a week where you can reserve time for you (hair, nails, massage facial, walks, etc.) would be very helpful.

I walk. I didn't even realize at first how it reduced my stress. It's particularly good if I find a lovely park to walk in.10

Most of the time I wait till the kids are in bed to enjoy my dessert by myself, in silence! Also getting to take a warm bath usually does it for me, as well as any beauty treatment I can squeeze in the time for and do myself!8

Not sure why the recommendations given before you were deemed unrealistic with children. Plenty of people make it happen with the same suggestions you made in your post. 🤷🏼♀️🤔6 -
I'm also a mom to three kids. Mine are 9,7, and 4. Do you stay at home? If so, finding a way to regularly break away, even if just once a month will really help. Here are a few ways I de-stress:
1. Exercise
2. Reading
3. Meditation
4. Talking a walk alone after my husband gets home or early in the morning.
5. Cleaning, sometimes this helps sometimes it doesn't.
6. I'm in a book club for moms that meets once a month in the evenings, this gives me something to look forward to and has provided me with some friends with similar interests that understand the struggle of parenting.3 -
Running is my stress relief. Minimum of 30 minutes 4 times a week.
If you have a partner who can watch them it would be better.
If not you can do it with a running pram whilst the older one is at school.
Bubbly bath with a glass of wine is great on non run days

If you have nternet you can do YouTube workouts, lots to choose from, free, stay at home and many no equipment necessary! Also yoga on YouTube!3

Looks like they wooed you too. I probably come off as a Grinch and I am not or at least I don't want to be. But the holidays are nothing like what they once were in my family. I hope winter is quick also. I am grumpy today as the wet chill has my joints complaining and makes it hard to pretend that getting fit has made me young again...10 -
Having a break from the 4 walls of the house, walking along the beach. Early morning or evenings are the best, when there's not many if any people around. Sooo calming and peaceful.2

If you can figure out ways that your kids can be included on the doing of crafts, I bet you could have a lot of fun together and see some of that stress slip away.
I enjoy making things from polymer clay, which has to be cured in an oven at 275F, but, until it is cured it can be molded and manipulated endlessly. Even 6 yrs old can have fun with that.
Playdoh is sort of like that except that playdoh air dries after time out of the can.

Ohh, that's my summer stress release strategy, my winter is sitting by a fire in the bush sipping on tea or hot chocolate, having a bbq and wood cutting collecting wood for home open fire.4 -

I eat, play video games (violence level depends on how angry I am), and/or beat something up.
The rando woo'ing is just like the rando flagging from a couple years ago. People woo if they hate you or like you. Hells, people who are friends admit to woo'ing each others' posts just because. Woo means fudge-all on MFP. We all know what it means, but because some yahoos think they're funny, the rest of the family can't have anything nice.7 -

I do a few crafts too (I think I like that you actually have a finish line and see things completed - so unlike parenting!)
Going for walks is great - getting out in nature helps me feel better. We got our dog a couple of years ago, so I definitely walk more now, plus she is a great companion.
I also do Tai chi - learning the routines is a bit of a mental challenge, and then practicing the ones I have learned is really relaxing. And I have met some lovely people there too.3
