What do you think 500 to 600 Calories per day is it enough for a 46 male with no activities?

And you lose muscle in the process among other complications that come from not eating enough.12 -

what will be the negative effects?0 -
Malnutrition, hair loss, anemia, tachycardia, bone thinning, brain shrinkage, muscle loss, lower immune system, edema, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, loss of energy and eventually death plus lots of other nasty stuff.13

Where's my nope kitty shirt when I need it? In the laundry most likely....
Nope. Not enough.4 -
That amount of calories is dangerously low. I suspect you want to lose weight quickly and that is the reason why you asked the question.
Virtual starvation is both very unhealthy and weight loss becomes unattainable in the long term.
If you genuinely want to lose weight it has to be a long term sustained process otherwise you will gain back everything you lost. That's a proven fact.
Maintaining a healthy weight doesn't just factor in calorie consumption. You absolutely have to exercise, even a little, if you want to keep weight from coming back especially as you get older!
Aim for 1200 - 1400 calories per day as the absolute minimum and try to get some exercise even if it's only 30 minutes a day. Try to make sure you are getting plenty of protein in that range. Most men need a minimum of 65 grams per day but the over 40 crowd needs more like 90 grams per day due to muscle loss.

It actually will revert to burning muscle not fat because the body will be convinced that it's not getting enough calories. Burning muscle is dangerous...any weight loss you see on such a major calorie restriction (500-600 calories) will be both water and muscle loss, not fat5 -

Malnutrition, starvation, then death.6 -

A grown man eating 1200 cals and exercising 30 minutes per day would also be dangerously low and unhealthy.
OP, put your height , weight, and activity level into mfp and choose weight loss as your goal. Eat the calories that mfp gives you, which will be at least 1500 cals. Losing weight super fast is not healthy, even for folks who need to lose weight for serious health reasons and under a doctor's care, there are real dangers.5 -

As long as you eat those 500 calories THREE TIMES per day, you'll be ok. Otherwise, not even close.

It's dangerous, even under a doctor's care.1 -

Thanks for your comment, good to know and have to rethink.2 -

In case you are wondering why you are collecting the woos...
1500 net calories is the recommended minimum for a man. Net meaning eating back any exercise calories on top of that.
It's not a proven fact that anything causes you to gain back everything you lost. Quick loss does increase the likelihood but doesn't make it a fact.
You don't absolutely have to exercise. It's a very good idea but not required.
You don't need 90g of protein just because you are over 40. Lots of factors and opinions about how much is needed. You are correct that most men seem to need 65 or more to stay in good shape.
Starvation is unhealthy but doesn't make weight loss unattainable.
The answer to the OP's question is that eating 600 is a really bad idea. That we agree on.11 -
I started mid July of this year and dropped about 30 pounds. I stuck to a 1500 calorie diet of protien shake in the morning and fruits veggies and chicken for lunch and ate what ever the family was having for dinner but reduced portions. I exercised 4-5 days a week with only walking 30 minutes each time. Starting weight 225 current weight 195. I dropped from size 36 waist to a lose 34. Diet is 90 percent of weight loss.2
