Yes my son passed about 3 years ago and my daughter was insanely busy with her business today. This is the second year for this. I found things to do, but for all the holidays I will plan on it being this way and if she has a freer schedule, it will be a bonus. How about you?13

Oh sorry for your loss . I have no other family besides my husband, which I should be thankful for but I still feel down. I think I have seasonal depression also since this happens every year the same time.
I wish it would just go quickly.

Haha yuck. That made me laugh. I actually just ate some beef jerky. I just realized I am eating beef jerky for thanksgiving. Oh well.

My mom passed away two years ago this past September. Time does help, and I remind myself she was 93 so it was her time. But the Holidays are that time of year when it is the hardest. A small example there is a grocery store here in USA, big in the south that a number of years ago sold salt and pepper shakers. For Thanksgiving they had pilgrims, for Christmas snowman, and had some Easter ones as well. Well my mom bought me a set of each. So every Holiday I bring them out! And all the memories come with them. And one of my older brothers was found dead two days before Thanksgiving 10 years ago. So I hear where you are coming from......8

I am sorry. I am happy about the shakers, though.

Oddly enough this is why certain holidays bug me... I have never spent Xmas/thanksgiving alone but I think it is so hard for those that maybe do not have anybody to spend it with for whatever reason, and then they feel even worse because it is Xmas/thanksgiving day and you should be with friends and family.
To me the build up to Xmas now is just ridiculous between the stores pushing people to buy and buy and the people putting their trees up two months before.
Anothing thing that bugs me is if there is something in the news tragic someone died, etc. people will say/post...so sad especially this time of year (Xmas) and it is like wtf I think it would be sad regardless of the time of year.
Just my two cents but I should add that I am also one of those people that, every year, is happy to have Xmas and New years over with and life gets back to normal routine.0 -

Okay holidays are over for now. Over.
We have some time before December 24th to avoid all the annoyance of forced nostalgia, sentimental demands and cringeworthy social pressures so let's all relax into the next 30 days without succumbing to the madness.2
