I’m on day 2. Lost 2lbs in just 1 day.
Anyone else doing it right now? Would be lovely to motivate each other!

How many calories are you getting per day?
What about protein and fat?6 -
That sounds like a purge.9
-
It doesn’t feel like a purge. I get my protein from almond butter. It’s only to kickstart things for 10 days18

The problem with "cleanses" is that they are unsustainable and then what happens when you go off of it? You said you lost 2 pounds in a day, but it's impossible for that to be fat loss. Your body burns 2000-2500 calories a day through normal daily activity. Even if you were to eat/drink 0 calories in a day, that's less than a pound.
My guess is the weight you lose on this cleanse will not be actual fat loss. It will be water/refuge weight loss from not eating anything solid. It will look good on the scale but it will come back when you start eating real food again.
There are no quick fixes. It's much better to choose strategies that can be maintained long term.22 -

Please don't do this to yourself. It's totally unnecessary and completely futile. Have a read of this great thread here:

I drink a green smoothie every day and they don't kick-start anything, just an easy way to get in some veggies and fruit. Also, they can be calorie bombs depending on what you put in them-I can easily put together a 500 calorie smoothie.10

Yes. I was providing a general baseline for point of illustration. (Almost) nobody burns anywhere close to 7000 calories in a day. The point was that loses from these cleanses are not fat loss but rather water and waste loss, since it is not humanly possible to lose that much fat in one day.13 -

cleanses are just a glorified laxative in most cases. so yeah its not true weight I agree there.4 -
Good luck on your cleanse!! I loss 7 pounds in 10 days myself. Please don't let opinions of others distract you on your journey, it's a 10 day cleanse, not a lifetime journey! 😩 Yes you pee an pooop, it's a cleanse!! It's how you transition to solids, and how you approach things from there. These experts will have you binging and giving up!! 😧58

The human body is remarkably good at cleansing itself on a regular old balanced diet16 -

*kitten* these aren't *kitten* "opinions" *kitten* *bangs head against wall*
No one should be doing a "cleanse" a "detox" whatever the *kitten* you want to call it.
Eat a reasonable deficit. Get adequate protien and fats. Be patient. Its not *kitten* rocket science.
You dont need to cleanse or detox *kitten*. You have organs that do that. They are called kidneys and liver. Guess what? they're doing a pretty good job - if they weren't you'd know.

If you have a medical concern that requires a transition to solid foods, that’s worth seeing a doctor.
There are many, many people here who have successfully lost weight, some of whom have also overcome binging. We didn’t do that with cleanses. We did that by learning how to consistently eat within a calorie deficit.
Additionally, a 7 pound weight loss in 10 days is going to be largely water weight. I assume most people here want to lose fat, not water. A cleanse will not make you lose fat unless it puts you in a calorie deficit, and 7 pounds of fat in 10 days would be an extremely unhealthy pace of weight loss.
Going to the bathroom more frequently does not make your body “clean.” Assuming you are properly hydrated, eating enough fiber, and do not have underlying health concerns, then you should be peeing and pooping just fine. If you have problems in these departments, you need to go to a doctor rather than drinking smoothies for it.12 -

I was reading this and thinking about how much I like math. 7lbs of fat in 10 days would be a daily deficit of 2450 calories. Depending on age, height, and weight, OP may not even burn that much in a day. Add in the calories from the green smoothie, and to lose that much fat per day a person would have to be eating nothing else but the smoothie and then working out a fair amount on top of that. Sounds like a bad way to go. But hey, what do I know?6 -
Why does the body need a cleanse? Go have a bath if you want to cleanse. You may lose weight but in a few weeks time you will be back to square one4
-
But....why?0
-
I did a “cleanse” a year ago and lost five pounds. It was gastric flu and violently cleansed EVERYTHING. But I put the weight back on once I could actually leave the bathroom. Do a cleanse if you want to - it is your body - but it won’t be sustainable and might make you feel weak / lead to a binge.3

The scary thing is I think some people do exactly that...drink the smoothie and no other food, and then work out a lot. I'm with you, though. I'd prefer to eat moderately, work out moderately, and lose weight at a healthy pace.1 -

How does telling someone a green smoothie cleanse is unnecessary cause them to binge??? Honestly, a 10 day smoothie cleanse is more likely to cause a binge
OP, cleanses are a gimmick. You are not full of toxins that need to be flushed out of you before weight loss or good health can begin. Just start logging your food, hitting your calorie goal, and trying to make healthier food choices when possible. If you feel you are eating too much food that is hurting you rather than helping you, just start making small changes one at a time until they stick. I found it's a lot easier to do that when you are logging accurately and consistently and you know if your diet is calorie appropriate. Good luck!10 -
OP - one of the most useful aspects of the MFP community forums are the bookmarked 'sticky' posts at the top of each forum section.
Do yourself a favor and take some time to read through the posts that are relevant to the ideas you are working with. THere are many to read through, and there is this one in particular that contains a lot of information on the subject of cleanses.

This is the kind of thread where I'd really love to see a response from the OP indicating whether the overwhelming advice of many experienced users has had any effect on them.4

Yup. After ten days of not eating enough or not eating food that is emotionally satisfying, high likelihood of rebound immediately after.3 -
I joined the 10 day smoothie cleanse facebook support group awhile ago just for kicks and giggles because I was curious it's crazy how many people do lose weight but I know it's just water weight or weight that will def be gained back after the 10 days I would be lying if I said I didn't think about starting the cleanse as a kick off to weight loss but decided it was just a binge fest waiting to happen I do have a friend that spent $80 buying the book and all the ingredients for 10 days and she only made it to day 2 because she said the smoothies tasted gross. so that was a huge waste. I do drink a smoothie sometimes in the morning for breakfast that is about 380 calories3
