    The boxes of chocolates haven't been opened yet in our office, when they do I will be tempted of course but I will restrict myself to no more than two per day. Willpower is something I have in abundance thank goodness (as I said to my boss the other day when he asked how I keep so slim: 'practice, practice, practice - at saying no!' :smiley: )

    Ohhhh shortbread...such a weakness for me. I can easily walk by a platter of chocolates but not the shortbread! I've just given up on finding a low-cal shortbread recipe. I occasionally indulge, log it, and move on.

    I work from home so I'm safe from this, but my two lovely neighbours will drop by with something sooner or later. One bakes and she gives everyone a variety of all kinds of cookies (and last year, a cinnamon bread thing) and the other gives us these date treats they import. I should get some British stuff sent over and gift them this year.

    Two plates of homemade Christmas cookies, a box of assorted Godiva chocolates, homemade English toffee (4 pounds!) and delicious store bought English toffee have been added to the collection. This year I’ll just fit it into my calories. Really. I will! The sad thing is we only have 7 employees at work!

    There have been some treats in the office so far but I haven't eaten any. Nothing that looks that great really. The only thing I've taken is an orange from one of our Floridian customers lol.
    I've been bringing my own chocolate from home because it's better than what's been showing up in the breakroom

    We always have loads of cakes and biscuits at work. I actually find it easier at this time of year as there's loads of mince pies and I can't stand them.

    Today is the holiday food day at work. I'm just treating it as a free day for logging, and will try to not overdo it with all the goodies. 😉

    okay.. I was whining over the time of year in general...but since I work for myself I don't face any of these temptations... so I'll be quiet now. But, that's got to be hard to resist. I'd picture all that food covered with hair or something gross..or imagine a co worker spitting in it..

    I work for myself as well. I make sweets. In front of me right this moment is crunchy caramel popcorn, fresh sugar cookies, rich and decadent dark chocolate brownies, peanut brittle, chewy vegan macaroons, red hot cinnamon candies and so much more.

    Some days it's SO hard!

I still eat desserts on occasion, but I make the decision ahead of time and I decide ahead how much I will eat. Examples: a small piece of pie at Thanksgiving, a few bites of dessert at a nice restaurant, a piece of dessert at book club.

    I hope that helps! I am not perfect by a long shot but wanted to share what has worked for me.



    I got so many gifts from students this year, which I truly appreciate, but so many sweets!! I teach over 300 kids a week.. Can't eat all of it and I feel bad.. Do you have this problem as well? I was planning on bringing the sweets to my family gatherings so they can help, too.

    This sounds so grinch-y but I am almost looking forward to January. Horrible weather, taxes, new commitment to workout and dieting. Sounds pretty terrible, LOL!

    I took the sweets from kids and put them out at staff meetings. Not great I know because I’m still enabling others but I least I’m not eating it! I also received homemade tamales which are more special. I ate one and shared the rest with my husband who is underweight and loves tamales.

    Id freeze those tamales in individual bags and drag one out every few weeks for a treat. What a great gift!

    I am the same way....at a buffet, most people can't resist the dessert trays for me that does not even tempt me...I am more tempted by the meats/cheeses/creamy salads/buns, etc.

    I’ve retired and my husband misses those bags of treats from the kids at school:))). It did make it tough when we had special meals for celebrations. What actually derailed me was fitting in pizza from big Apple once a week with coworkers near the end of the year. I tried to skip breakfast, limit myself, but it really was hard and I struggled. Pizza is my kryptonite!
