Your weight will probably go up this week - and that's a good thing! :)

I have decided to just enjoy my Christmas Eve and Christmas with whatever sounds good. I did get on the treadmill today though I was actually super proud of myself lol. I probably won't weigh in until next Monday so I don't freak out seeing a high number. Even though I know it's probably mostly water weight, my brain goes instantly to OMG WHAT DID I DO.3

I'm actually hoping to drop a kg or two by mid-Jan.
The Christmas holiday break is a time for me to exercise more and aside from one or two days, I don't go too crazy with the food.
That said, I will be making a pavlova later.
Good thing I went for a 3 km run and 1 km walk and am hoping to a bicycle ride shortly!!
The pavlova ... and it's gone now.

I live in the southeast US so cornbread dressing with lots of gravy is very important and considered a true necessity when you're celebrating the Christmas season and I love it! Also cake...cakes of all kinds. Cranberry and orange chutney (I made my own and it's surprisingly healthy), whipped potatoes (and more gravy), but the funny thing is that I've gotten so use to smaller portions, that I've actually stayed well within my calories for the day, not that this day is over! Thank you for the reminder and actually that's good advice for everyday life! I know some days I'll show an increase on the scale and at this point in my life, I know I'm in it for the long haul. It's been fun reading all the different versions of what foods make Christmas special for each one! I have enjoyed it very much. I rarely comment but I did love this one thread. You must be in the UK. I would love to try some of that custard and pudding!2

Looking forward to lots of good food and family time, and I don't intend to concern myself with the scale.
My husband outdid himself yesterday. While I spent the day doing laundry, he made:- Apple pie
- Pumpkin pie
- Browned butter maple sugar cookies
- Peppermint bark cookies
- Rum balls
Tonight we'll have turkey, dressing, ham, rolls, potatoes x 2 (sweet and mashed), roasted Brussells sprouts, and all the stuff listed above. Tomorrow morning is homemade cinnamon rolls. And all the leftovers!
Does he have a brother? Asking for a friend...
@snickerscharlie He does! Cute, too  and sitting on our couch right now. He doesn't cook though.1 -
You need to eat 3,500 calories over your maintenance calories to gain 1 lb of fat.
Don't be worried about this week...
I've eaten more than 14 000 cals above maintanance for the past week or so.
Can I be worried?
I'm healthy weight so it'll take me 2 months at least to lose it. So I think I'm worried. For the past year I've been having trouble sustaining a deficit for more than a week at a time... so no idea if I'll ever drop those.
And I'm not done yet. I'll stop treating myself in January so another 7k over to come.
It sucks. Totally sucks.

Actually I find this week easier to lose weight as hubby can stay home with the children while I go out and exercise2

You're choosing to over eat by that much though....7 -
I threw caution to the wind these past two days, so I needed to hear this. Cinnamon rolls for breakfast, loads of cheese and crackers, and all the chocolate I could cram into my mouth. I actually paid for it yesterday with a bad belly ache, but what matters is I enjoyed my family and am back to the grind today.1

I like this thread. I see I am not the only one who went all in baking-wise.
I made
Chocolate crinkle cookies
2 types of biscotti
Caramel Pear Buche
Cheesecake lemon bars
Sweet cheese bread
Swiss onion bread
Amish dinner rolls
I was out of town so I haven't weighed myself since Saturday. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow... #notworried2 -

Thanks!
Yes, after a big Xmas late lunch I didn't need much dinner, so I was only over about 400 calories. Over again today, though.
I'm Australian, and my other half is from the UK. We have quite a lot of British food traditions here.
I've never seen Cinnamon rolls here, which several people have mentioned in this thread. Need to know more!0 -
Weighed myself this morning, and am the same weight as I was last Thursday...
Second Christmas celebrations today, this one I'm logging as I'm cooking and most of its stuff already in my diary. I've pre logged everything apart from lunch and I'm already over... ah well!3 -
Well done, I'm not going near the scales just yet. I've gone mad for the last 3 days as we've had a houseful so I've just joined in and had too much vodka and chocolate. I'm aiming for a few restricted days between now and New Years Eve to try and even it out.1

Very timely and dead on!
Don't get discouraged with meaningless shifts in weight (water weight) and overly concerned with unusual eating habits taking place over holidays.
Log it. Learn from it. Enjoy your life and move on with the plan.3 -
I was terrified to see a 14lb gain today!! This is after 9 days of going over. Treated praying that a lot of it is water weight as I've been eating more carbs than I have all year as well as over indulging in alcohol which I don't normally do for the past few years.
Treated myself to electronic scales for my new year mfp personal weigh in progress pics. I will keep an eye on this gain and have started trying to rein myself back in. Even threw away a whole cake today as it was too tempting and I don't usually keep all these treats in the house.
I'm trying to stay positive and not get upset that I've set myself back when I'd just reached a huge weight mini goal.2
