@Birder165 --do you make your own ginger beer? I bought the ginger and found a recipe online. There is hardly any calories. I love it. I just haven't made it before and I hope the recipe is good. I drank the Martinelli's pear and apple sparkling cider yesterday, and although great, there was a ton of calories.1

During December I just want to make it out of the month alive and without too much damage. I have slowly inched myself into the 180βs. I want to get back into the 170βs and maintain (at the very minimum). I want to increase my exercising now that my livingroom renovation is complete. I want to get all my steps in and incorporate more & more of the great ideas you all have shared. My personal goals are the greatest presents that I can give to myself during this most Holy month of celebrations. This is my way of saying Merry Christmas to me. Your ideas and comments are the greatest presents that I could ever receive from all of you. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to us all!

Day/Weight/Comment:
12/24 - 183.3 - I enjoyed my GSβs 2nd birthday yesterday. I ate out of plan with too many carbs but was reasonable. It is not hard to find yourself over 20 net carbs! I have a Christmas Party with friends tonight. I don't hold out much hope for this round either, so many food events to come! . But I do persist. Everyday (no matter what is on the agenda) is another day to make a small change or a good choice even if the day holds an event. I can certainly choose wisely even if it's only one of the meals on the day of a gathering. One meal out of plan on an event day should NOT sink my ship. Extra movement on an event day goes a long way too. I persist....I persist....I persist.....
12/25 - 183.2 Christmas party with friends last night. Tonight is my main present opening & goodie even with me adult kids and grandkids.
12/26 - 184.1 . Main Christmas gathering with my adult kids & grandchildren last night. Food, Food, Food last night. A touch of alcohol too. I swear I heard the scale scream at me today!

12/30 - Main Christmas Dinner with Ham & all the fixings expected with all of the family. (Ours is late every year due to conflicting schedules.) Thank goodness it's almost January.

@salleewins No, I buy it ... Crabbies, made in Scotland. 4% alcohol. A 500 ml bottle has 260 calories according to what I can find on MFP. I don't drink much but this'll be my treat for New Year's Eve. It's delicious! I love the Grower's Blackberry cider. I'll have to look for the Martinelli's and try that.2 -
Thanks @Birder165 --This one doesn't have alcohol. Great planning for New Year's Eve. I am in the process as you can see. I want to make a crabmeat dip--this time with FF cream cheese. Never did it FF before. It has cranberries that I am making homemade with Stevia. I better get something tried and true, though, for standby in case I don't like the new additions.2

24th Round for me: Female 65, height 5β
I feel like Iβm at the beginning of a new year. Usually we have company or go away but this year decided to do our visiting in spring and fall and stay put for winter - avoiding all the stress of driving in the snow in the mountains. Iβm enjoying the peacefulness of it but my mind is jumping ahead to 2019.Round 39 (1st for me) β SW 163, loss -.2Goal this round: 159ish. I was down here in Oct. and having so much trouble getting back there. Right now even Β½ lb. per round would seem great.

Round 62 β 160.2, +.4
Iβm going to apply to go on a short course in April. That is 13-14 weeks away (about 9 rounds). So my more immediate goal is to lose 1 lb/round. The course is something Iβve wanted to do for a very long time β I donβt have to lose weight for it but it would be sweet if I did.
Ultimate Goal Weight β 128; Hoping to be under 140 by end of June.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/24 β 160.6 β Bought some borscht yesterday for a quick lunch, seemed way saltier than usual. Also made up some shrimp dip with light cream cheese (we used to always do it at Christmas but even with the light stuff is pretty high calorie) So not a great day yesterday although no LNS. Calories probably at maintenance.
12/25 β 161.2
12/26 β 161. 6 β Found a spiced beef roast deep in the freezer and decided to cook it for Christmas since dh is not a fan of turkey and weβve had ham several times lately. Put potatoes and veg. in with it for an easy meal and it was amazing. Made angel food cake with lots of whipped cream β only got the small cream so it will soon be gone and not tempting me. Canβt remember when there has been just the two of us for Christmas but it was nice. Buckets of snow today (we live in the snowbelt) so feel for our neighborsβ kids who headed out early this am. At least our roads are just wet so likely only the passes will be nasty.

Oh, I've never tried crabmeat dip let alone one with cranberries. Is that new for you? I like making my own cranberries, too. It's so easy! I haven't had it often but I remember FF cream cheese being alright, maybe a bit grainy? But not unappetizing, at least not to me. It's smart of you to be planning ahead ... good going!0 -
@Birder165--this dip has been around for awhile. I am trying to make it with less calories and fat this year. Although I haven't made it for a few holiday seasons as of late. We will see how the experiment goes.1

My goal is just to track my food every day for these 10 days.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/24 - 199.5 I logged my food even if it wasn't pretty.
12/25 - 200 all the sweet treats are gone! back to the gym tomorrow

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
