Got a school uniform as a christmas present one year as a kid. plus some other presents. but who wants a school uniform as a present during the summer holidays? school is the alst thing you want to be thinking about.3

The present I still remember from many years ago is a pair of lime green sparkly socks given to me by my now wife's elderly grandma.
I profusely poured out my thanks and gratitude.
Her son ( wife's uncle ) who still lived with his mother, expressed his amusement.
Guess what he got as a Christmas present from me the following year?!
I wasn't there when he opened it but it still amuses now thinking of what their reactions were.
Needless to say my wife wasn't overly impressed with my generosity.2 -
At some point in my childhood, someone decided I liked porcelain dolls. (Which I don't at all) So every Christmas I had to open at least 3 and pretend to be happy about it.
My mother tried to pawn them off on my daughter last year and I told her she could throw them out and confessed I never liked them. She still kept them1 -

I was home from my second year in college. My grandma gave me a small jewelry box. Inside was a clear rain poncho that was folded up into its own little packet you could fit into your purse. I lived in California where it never rained.4

a ring...meant as an engagement ring...worst most awkward gift ever1

A scale2

About 30 years ago, my mother gave me a gold nugget ring for Christmas. It was expensive and completely unlike anything that I had or had ever talked about. I asked her to return it, keep the money, and don't buy me anything to replace it.6

Anyone get anything amusing or awful this year? I didn't (well, except for the grab bad one), but mainly because I either bought them for myself, or was with my daughter shopping.0

A phone charger. I guess it'll find friends in the drawer with the other 4 or 5 I have ...1

Oh dear god, this is horrid! I couldn't figure it out in your avatar so thanks for posting the pic. I'd LOVE to see reactions when you wear this thing!0 -
@BZAH10 I'm getting an equal amount of cringes and belly laughs. I hope people find it funny, rather than insulting.
Not insulting, but cringe worthy for sure.A phone charger. I guess it'll find friends in the drawer with the other 4 or 5 I have ...
I bought one for my daughter, but only because she asked for it. Her old one broke.

My very first work Christmas as a brand new lowly grunt employee, never knew what a "Chinese gift exchange" (or whatever its called), was the very first number to draw, the very first person to pick a package under the tree, with a $20 limit which was expensive for me, and I picked...wait for it...
A small bottle of mickey mouse bubblebath for kids.
(Turns out it came from one of the senior executives.)
Bubble bath ? WTF that’s cheap lol

The only thing I can think of is getting a plain white towel in my Grandma's elephant exchange game two years in a row.1

At first I thought it was a comparison of their stomach after losing weight!
That thing has to be one of the tackiest things I have ever seen.1 -
My SIL couldn't afford to buy my kids gifts and would pick out something from the Toys for Tots charity to give to them. It was sad because we are very well off, and she was potentially taking toys away from kids who would get nothing otherwise.0

I got a n64 -so awesome! But then it didn't work. And then I got a New Hockey Jersey of my favorite player and it came fake1

I’m all for appliances as gifts but it better be something extra that I’ve been hinting at or just wouldn’t spend the money on myself, lol.2 -

Nothing bad yet, but we haven't done the family white elephant gift exchange yet. That will be on Saturday..... So who knows?1

My next door neighbor gave us a rock about 10 years ago. It had our initial from our last name on it and a piece of felt on the bottom. It was supposed to be used as a doorstop. She was about 90 at the time. I still have it. I have to say it wasn't a "worst gift" it was just a cheap gift that she made herself. She has since passed. I think of her every time I have to move it to open the hall closet.6
