I have struggled with weight my whole adult life. I've lost a lot in the past, then gained it all back plus some. I was doing it for the wrong reasons in the past...now I am doing this for me. I need to get healthier physically and mentally and losing the weight will help with both! If you are looking for friends to help support and motivate, please add me.

Hi, I am in the same boat. I was doing great, eating right and going to the gym, and lost 35 and was feeling good! Then slowly started slipping into bad habits and got lazy, and I "found" 28 of the pounds that I lost
I have about 90 pounds to lose, so I'm going to focus on losing 10lb chunks at a time. Feel free to add me!13 -
Good luck! You can do anything you set your mind to1

I have a 100lbs to lose and I don't feel this big honestly but pictures sadly show otherwise. And I am approaching 50 yrs old and in dire need of this weight to go bye bye in the most healthy way possible!11

I need to go from 370 to 230. We can do it. I've lost 100 before so I know I can do it and if I can anyone can.5

2019 is the year. I’m 6’0 360LBS which needless to say I need to loose 10 to 160 pounds lol. I made excuses in the past and it only got me heavier. Let’s get it done!6

Just make sure you break it up and don't look at the end goal. If you look at a mountain it seems impossible to climb and people get discouraged and they don't climb it. If you start climbing the mountain and just keep looking 20 ft ahead and take it step by step, then you'll get there. Don't set an unreasonable pace because if you don't keep up with that pace, you will quit. Just make your goal that you want to consistently lose weight on a week by week basis, no matter if it's half a pound or 2 pounds. If you're losing weight, you're moving in the right direction.15

I am in the same boat!!!! 100+ to lose! Joined a gym and I meet with a personal trainer tomorrow. I am trying to just make small changes that will lead to bigger ones! My main focus is to log my calories and go to the gym! Also to tell myself positive things...I have no self confidence now! So working on those things now and hopefully will see some lbs coming off. If you would like to add me as a friend feel free! Good luck! You got this! You can do it!7

I started in May 2018 with a human being to lose. Meaning my goal is to lose 137 pounds. Going from 305 to 168. So far I have lost 76 pounds.
A few suggestions, if I may. Do not set a date of when X amount has to be lost. Remember you are on a lifestyle change, you are not on a diet. There is no end, only different phases. We did not wake up one day and find ourselves obese. It is going to take time, to lose the weight. Set reasonable small goals. For example what I did as even 10% at first to me sounded so big. So I set my first goal at losing 8%. When I achieved that, I reset it again at 8%, which is what I do each time. How I am rewarding myself, is I have started a me fund, for money I use to waste on junk food. I am keeping for my fun fund.
Also when you get to a significant weight loss, it will not be all by any means, get rid of your too big obese clothes. You do not want them hanging around talking to you. You can lose weight without exercising, but it helps in many ways the body overall. Me, I started really walking and doing more after the first two months. But at 60 was a bit harder than if much younger.
Read the stickies and the forums. You can do it, stick with it. Log your food, and if you do not have one go buy a food scale. I cannot say how much of a difference that will make. You have all made the decision to be here welcome.

I’m ready to reset my life, 100# goal. Hardest part is taking the plunge and actually starting and I am doing it tomorrow!!! No more wait until Monday’s for me.
Current Weight: 299.6
Goal Weight: 200.0
Lots to lose and at 41 I have plenty of time to get there. Going to set small goals and drive to hit those.
I will get there in 2019!! It’s not just for me, but for my family and being able to be involved and around for a long time to support them!4 -

I, too, have 100# to lose. I started on Monday, down 5# so far and feeling inspired. Taking the plunge is hard, but if you set your mind toward it and hang on to the will-power, you won't regret it! I am just logging everything on MFP and staying within the calorie goals right now, I'll add exercise soon. Feel free to add me.3 -
We got this!!!2

I've got 95lbs as my ultimate goal. I am going to try to push hard, but also be realistic and kind to myself. I'll be happy if I can achieve 60lbs this year. We've got a lot to do, but we can do it!2
-
My goal is 1lb per week--that way if I do it all year, I've lost 52lbs by next year. If I drop more, great, if not, I'm still 52lbs closer to my goal!2

I'm in. I also want to lose 100 pounds. So far down 6 pounds this week. (Yes I know that is water weight, but it is a start). I am 61 and I am tired of hefting this bulk around.1
-
100 to lose here too! Prob could use more but that is my ultimate goal! Started at 297 in Dec, currently 286. Trying to focus on a pound a week so I don't get overwhelmed. Back injury so only exercise is walking on treadmill at 2.5 mph 0 incline for 15 mins here and there throughout the week. We've got this!1

I did the same thing. Started at 326, got down to 198, and now I'm back up to 305. Can't believe I let myself get back here but here I am. I'm sick of tiring out so easy. I remember how much energy I had when I lost it all and I really want it back. Feel free to add me for support. We can do this.

It's a trend! My high weight was 327, I started MFP at 300 in November 2012, got down to 199 and maintained at 205-210 for several years. Health issue ensued...back up to 293 in November 2018, ugh! Losing again and down to 275 this morning. Let's do this journey together in 2019. Feel free to add me, https://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/Mistizoom/profile/Mistizoom!3 -
Just checking in - how is everyone doing with their progress so far. I am learning that it is a process. I am focussing on logging everyday, portion control, and chewing each bite thoroughly. I realize that if I am not mindful of each bite, I tend to chew the food only halfway before swallowing and then I eat more in quantity. I need to chew each bite thoroughly - not only does that help slow the eating down, but it also helps the body get/use more nutrients. In all my life, I had never figured that out before. LOL I am down 15 pounds since Jan. 7, when I started this journey again. Would love the hear from others what you are doing and any insights you have figured out.1

I have adopted a mindset that tells me that “I am too old” to be in shape. I know that this is self-defeating. My goal is to go from 286 to 205. I’m 42-years-old next month. Thank you for your insights and motivation. Will check in daily...1

Well put that mindset away. You are not too old and there are lots of people on the forums who are much older and are losing, or maintaining a healthy weight after losing 100 pounds.
We can do this. We just need to stay focussed. I am reading lots of different threads for motivation. One of my favorites is the NSV thread. The people are so focussed and it's interesting to read how they are coping with their new bodies.0 -
Anyone still checking in on this thread? Its 105 days for me, and 32 pounds down. I just reread my earlier post and realize that I still need to work on the same behaviours. Being mindful of the quantity I eat, and chewing my food slowly and thoroughly. The last few weeks I have started to hurry again. When I slow down my eating process, I can feel myself getting full and can stop before I am finished all my food. If I eat at what was my normal pace, I am finished the whole plate before my mind has even registered I am eating. And then I tend to overeat. So eating slowly, chewing each bite, and quantity control are my goals. How is everyone else doing and what have you found successful to help you on this journey?1

I have 126 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight. I was on a great healthy path until diagnosed with breast cancer. Between the chemo, steroids, radiation, and tomoxifen I hit my worst weight ever!!! I was feeling super discouraged until reading through all of these posts in this discussion thread. Now I am looking toward a new and improved me! I did a lot of self reflection and empowered myself by purchasing a weight scale, a food scale, a tape measure and if anyone in my family wants to spend time with me it’s by being out on the hiking trails with me!! Here’s to being determined to get this weight off !!!!4

Unfortunately there is no edit button or at least I haven’t figured it out yet lol... please feel free to add me! I can use all the support and encouragement I can get 😊0

I was just cruising this thread, looking for some potential friend adds. But when I looked at the latest logins of some of these folks, they were from January! That makes me sad. I'm Shelly and I'm looking for some motivation help. Please add me and let me support you, too!2

This has been a hard battle for me in and out of trying to lose weight. So far sense the beginning of the year I have lost a total of 22pounds. It’s not been a easy battle but it’s coming along slowly. Right now I’m at 318 my goal is to be at 250 but honestly if I made it to 218 I would be a lot closer to my proper BMI. I know it takes time to put it on so it takes longer to work it off. Just taking it one step at a time. Happy to have this app to help me track and keep my support going.3

Hello Everyone, I'm Tammy and I'm in Maryland,
I'm not new to MFP but it's been a long while since I've done this. Today I find myself feeling so disgusted with myself. I've gained back the 50 pounds I lost and then some. I look at myself in the mirror and I don't like what I see at all. I've sat here crying about it. I grew up in a family that has all of these bad habits and it's so hard to break these habits and get support. I am an emotional eater, its what I do when I'm upset or sad or angry. I lost my only brother just a year ago due to poorly managed diabetes at the young age of 49. I'm looking for some folks to help me to get motivated and stay motivated without judging me. I did journal my food today and yesterday. It is so depressing to get to this point and most people just don't understand what its like to struggle with your weight.6
