I am new to following the plan, but have been working out cardio and weights for about 10 months and not really seeing the weight drop as I would like. I do have to say my body is looking better but extra weight is still there. I would like to lose 25 pounds and bulk up. Does it take a while for this plan to work? Other diets or programs usually show results in a few weeks I have been doing this for a few weeks and not really seeing any weight drop yet! What is your experience been like following this program? Appreciate the feed back. Thanks in advance!!

Check to make sure you are in a caloric deficit.3

When you say 'this program' do you mean eating in a calorie deficit?
Do you weigh your food?2 -
Perhaps if you're seeing a physical change yet no change in body weight, you could be putting on roughly enough muscle mass to accommodate for the fat loss so the scales still show a similar if not the same weight. You could always get a dexa scan preformed to track your body composition.11

I agree with the above poster- are you using a food scale and weighing portions out correctly? You can lose weight after 1 week of using this app as long as you are in a deficit and weighing food/portions out correctly.2

I'd sooner check how my clothes are fitting than go to the expense of a dexa scan. Fat takes up more space than muscle for the same weight, so if you're the same weight but have more muscle then you should see and feel that in how your clothes fit.4

I have been weighing all my meals and recording everything. Program says 2250 calories per day, that is hard to hit and a lot of food to eat. I usually log in about 400 to 800 calories lite. I have been watching the macros and staying darn close to the chart. I work out 5 to 6 days a week 15 to 30 minutes cardio and 45minutes to 1 hour of weights. Usually eat white jasmine rice, eggs no more than 2 yokes a day, oatmeal, egg whites, sweet potatoes, black beans, salad very little dressing, mixed vegetables some frozen most fresh, avocados, chicken, fish, pork chops and turkey and drink close to half gallon or more of water a day. I think I am eating pretty good. Weight just doesn’t seem to drop. Any suggestions on what to change. Thanks!!0

Opening your diary would be helpful. Sometimes it's easy to spot problems there.3
-
Can you make your food diary public? Maybe we can spot some logging errors that might help you.4
-
Ok!! How do you open it. Lol0

Go to settings > diary settings > make public2

From your MFP home page, Settings, Diary Settings, then this:

What does this mean...you haven't lost any weight at all? Or you were expecting to lose more? A lot of people have unrealistic expectations of how fast they will lose weight. With 25 Lbs to lose you really shouldn't expect to lose more than 1 Lb per week or less even. You're not going to be able to lose weight like an obese person.

I thought I had read you use a food scale to weigh everything? Your diary doesn't bear that out.
My scoops of protein powder are always more grams than they claim. Sometimes a significant amount. As for the half-cups of oatmeal and blueberries, check out the video in this thread.

Use a food scale. Seriously.

If you work your way through the instructions this link points to, you will be sure that your profile is set accurately and that you are entering your food (and exercise) logs correctly.

At the top of the "Getting Started" message board you will see an entry called "Helpful Posts - (Must Reads)" It contains the link above and other useful links to information or lists to help you get going. The one called "So you are new here ... " is also very good for managing expectations, and finding a list of generic tools/strategies. Like "Buy a food scale! Seriously!"0 -
If you aren't losing any weight after several weeks you are not in a deficit. MFP's estimates of how much to eat are just that - estimates. Eating more will not help, but in fact do the opposite. Cut 250 calories, try again, if no change in a month, cut another 250.2

This. You are probably eating more than you think.1 -
Yes, weighing what you are actually consuming is very important. Without accurate data, the issue may be self-evident in that you're taking in calories than you may think.
Also, where are you getting the nutritional values from for what you're eating? From searching the database here? All entries are user-submitted and subject to inaccuracies as a result. Some a lot greater than others.2 -
Another vote for scale to confirm what you are actually eating. Once you get used to a scale it's almost faster and requires less dishes than measuring (put bowl on scale, tare to 0, add one fruit, tare to 0, add second fruit, tare zero, add protein powder, tare o, ...) TADA - no extra dishes dirtied.1

Wow! Those videos are very informational it’s amazing how much differece it makes. I have been trusting the cups and packages. I see it can be a mistake. Thanks for all the info and advice. I can see where my problem could be. Glad I reached out. All of the comments were enlightening. Thanks again.8
