No run today, had planned 10, but got tied up in a meeting and now company is coming over. Would it be out of line to require they all run 10 miles with me before allowing them to eat or drink anything?11

@MegaMooseEsq I have been running in Ghost 10s since Dec. 2017, and bought some 11s this past November. I didn't notice very much difference. In fact, I wore the 11s for my marathon and feet didn't complain one bit. I think you'll be happy with them
Thanks! I did some reading and it seems like the 11s are pretty well regarded and not much different from the 10s. REI is having a spend $100, get $20 gift card deal right now, plus I get $12 back on my dividend, so I think I'm just going to pull that trigger, or at least I will as soon as I figure out what color to get!5 -
Im several pages behind, mostly because we have no internet at home atm (at work now).
No run for me today, and am seriously contemplating no gym as well. I am so tired from a crap sleep last night, I can barely keep my eyes open, and i have a major headache. Skipping one day is not going to kill me.
Part of me thinks a walk at lunch will be good, mostly because I'm on a 16 day streak for daily steps. But Garmin keeps putting my goal up! Not sure how much longer I can keep at the extra steps, but I like the challenge haha. Today its set for 13400. Easy if I run in the morning, not so easy if i dont. I've been doing a lot of marching on the spot over the weekend but now have aches in my legs. dumb eh.8 -

Of course not. A little exercise will help whet the appetite

/hugs I feel crummy after going out last night and am skipping the run today, too. It's totally allowed.2 -
Just gonna leave this here.
Sigh.

@pastorvincent Thank you for the encouragement! I will sign up. If I end up with a DNS, then so be it.
9.52 miles outside today. Earlier this week, it was -30's or something like that... today it was in the 50's and was a pretty nice day.

I went back to my spreadsheet and was able to add up the mileage on my shoes - easier than it might have been since I only ran in the one pair until I bought the trail shoes last fall, and almost immediately started tracking my running outfits for winter purposes. Turns out I've got about 525 miles on the Ghost 10s and 60 on the Peregrine 8s. Definitely time for another pair! I haven't noticed any real issue with the Ghosts and don't think I'll retire them immediately, but will definitely keep an eye out for any weird twinges. @PastorVincent: I remember someone mentioning having over 800 miles on a pair of shoes - was that you?3

@sarahthes I just died of hypothermia looking at this. You should visit Texas! 78 degrees F with 75% humidity today.5 -

Skip the run, maybe, but a walk might do you some good. Clear the head and all that. Just a suggestion... do what seems right to you.4 -

Whatever you do, do not follow my millage for shoes... I kind of regret mentioning how many miles I put on a pair. Let's just leave it at "more than recommended"3 -

Hah, fair enough.0 -
So beautiful weather yesterday so I got my first February run of 6.3 miles in. I'm just struggling mentally with going any farther. Yesterday my legs felt like they could keep going but I got in my own head and was like no you'll get to tired and just have to walk so I quit. Maybe if I broke it down into smaller steps. So next time I am just going to try to go a little farther even if its just past my driveway and back. Maybe that will help with the "you can't do this" mental block I have.11

Another gorgeous day in Colorado. Can’t believe the other temps! Got out side today.

February Running
02/01: 3.50 mile easy run
02/03: 6.05 mile long run
Total: 9.55 miles
Run notes:
Today was my longest run in 14 weeks! I went out to the lake front and ran 6 wonderful miles on the trail this afternoon. Things have warmed up nicely here (45 *F at the time of my run!) so things were really wet and mushy. Overall this run felt really good, I felt like I could have done a few more miles. A little soreness in my butt and L calf towards the end of the run, but no niggles or aches otherwise. Iced my PF twice after my run and had a nice painful session with the R8 while I watched the superbowl! I can't wait to run even further next weekend!
Upcoming race:
- Excalibur 10 Miler (3/17/19)

I'm one of those people that chose the treadmill today instead of the lovely outdoor temps in the mid-40s. I left for yoga this morning and packed a bag to run after, not realizing it was going to get quite so warm and sunny. I debated running outside in what I had but the other issue was that the everything is a mess out there with all the melt. Lots of slush and deep puddles. I didn't want any challenges for my knee either, so treadmill it was and I took it very easy. After I ran I sat in the whirlpool and then the sauna.
But I didn't miss out on the good weather totally, of course Stella was up for another nice long walk. The sidewalks were really horrible so I was glad I hadn't attempted to run in my neighborhood. It was so nice not to be freezing on a walk though that I didn't mind negotiating the puddles too much.
Push-up challenge: Did a few assisted pull-ups and the gym, and a few attempts on my pull-up bar at home. The plan called for push-ups so I tried the Sally push-up challenge @Elise4270 posted. I did push-ups from my knees and made it about 2:43 into the song. But I bailed on the last two of the really long "old miss lucy's dead and gone, left me here to weep and moan" down parts. Weeping and moaning is right! Rough!
I know, right? I'm starting to have a personal dislike for Old Miss Lucy! 2:43 is really great, even on your knees!
Today was a much needed total rest day, but it was too pretty not to walk in the 70 degree weather. Also I am trying to learn to shuffle dance, which is about halfway between sad and funny right now. And I have DOMS in my armpits from the Sally Push-up challenge.8 -
@martaindale that's awesome! I'm glad you had a great time. I certainly would race for tacos too.
@amymoreorless I'm glad you're back to running again.
@marisap2010 So sorry you had to navigate between the walkers. That is so frustrating!! And stopping in the middle of the trail during a race?!? Crazy. Inconsiderate. It sounds like you did quite well in spite of that. That trail does look nice. My brother lives in GA so I had to look up the Dauset Trails. It turns out they're just 6 miles south of the town my brother lives in, Jackson GA. I'll have to keep those trails in mind next time I'm down there.
@MobyCarp another fine performance! You ran the course smart and nailed your goal time.
@workaholic_nurse Distance PR's are awesome, well done!
@MegaMooseEsq you know, I ran twice this weekend and both times I was regretting not wearing shorts. Since I was on the injured reserve list for 3 months I seem to have forgotten how to dress for this weather. I was very tempted to registered for that Half Fast 10k but decided that I'd probably do something stupid like actually race it and I don't think I'm recovered enough for speed yet so I actually did the smart thing and didn't. I haven't raced a 10K since 2015 and I really want a new PR. I have a couple of summer 10Ks I might do though.
@greyparks206 congrats on the distance PR!! I think you should run 6 miles next weekend, and 6.5 the weekend after that. You've got it in you!
@kgirlhart killin' it!!! nice job! Running past the finish line...that is AWESOME!!! I bet you got some quizzical looks for that.
@polskagirl01 I don't think I've heard of a road race starting so late. that' my kind of race though. Sounds like you did quite well!
@hanlonsk Oh my...that's one of those thing where you're not sure if you should laugh or cry, but I must admit, I was laughing reading your description of the "race". I hope you'll forgive me. It sounds like they haven't a clue how to put on a proper race. Is the group putting the race on a group you'd be interesting in helping next year so it's not such a cluster****?
@midwesterner85 a DNF or DNS is not a badge of shame. If you're going to do three marathon+ races three weekends in a row you have the distinct possibility of a DNS or DNF regardless of how well trained you are, but that shouldn't stop you from going for it if that's what you want. I'd plan on even less than the taper week that @PastorVincent is suggesting though. You're not going to lose any fitness in a week so let your body recover between the races and just go for walks.
@ariceroni it's great to see you coming back. Congrats on a nice run!
