Yesterday my husband let me pick out my Valentine's day flowers. I know it sounds not very romantic but it's the opposite. I'm very particular. He usually does a really awesome job. But it's also an excuse for home to slyly learn more about what I like and what I'm looking for.
I also recently started planning all of my hiking and training hikes and volunteering with one of the local trail groups for trail maintenance/challenge and Ultra marathon help. My husband and I also started planning our anniversary. It falls on the Monday after the weekend of a star gazing party at a park that's within 4 hours of us that is one of the darkest places on the east coast. Pumped!!
I have been keeping up with going to advanced krav and doing my lifting along with my other gym adventures. I am doing the strong lifts program so every time I lift the weight increases and on Tuesday I officially squatted with more weight than I lost and it felt awesome! For reference, I'm down about 63 pounds and I squatted 65. It feels awesome to see an increase in strength so quickly.7 -
What a week!!! Even though it was busy the week was packed with fun! Tuesday went out to eat with friends from work, Wednesday celebrated my father in law’s birthday, for Valentines Day finally got my Invisalign to straighten out my teeth, hubby took me to see Miss Saigon, Friday had date night with the kids out to dinner and then to see Bohemian Rapsody (excellent by the way), Saturday spent the day with you my sister and today we are going out early to hike before the storm hits. The storm will be my excuse to sit at home and relax by the fire 😊 expecting to get 1/10 inch of ice and 3 inches of snow.3

Yesterday I allowed myself to chill on the sofa and watch crap TV in the afternoon, I kept feeling like I 'should' be cleaning and doing things, but I felt under the weather, so I let myself be.4

I am following my therapist's advice and stepping back from the scale a bit. I have bulimia and there is concern that it could trigger either a purge or a binge depending on how I feel about the number. I'm reducing the number of times a week that I weigh. I have been weighing throughout the day as well as every morning as soon as I wake up. So, I am reducing to Sunday (my official day), Tuesday and Friday. If I could change the calories macro on my diary I would, but MFP says it's required.4

Went to a new yoga class (I’m a true beginner) with a new teacher. Took courage & energy, but I did it.
Class was hard, but I did it.
Negative self talk popped up, and I quieted it compassionately.
Proud & A little sore 🤪5 -
I overate on Saturday and Sunday. I let myself period eat and it was fun. I are too much but I'm able to remind myself that, at worst, I've put on two pounds of actual fat and in the grand scheme of things, it was worth the Oreos.
Yesterday I took the best shower. Normally a long shower for me is 15 minutes. This was 25 minutes of boil your skin off bliss. My husband had given me a waterproof Bluetooth speaker for Christmas so I just hung out and same along while I washed away the chill in my bones. It was amazing.3 -
I had to leave early from work to take my daughter to her doctors appointment and decided to take the rest of the afternoon off 😊 I got coffee with my husband and then headed off to the gym for a much needed workout !! All and all it turned out to be a great day.2

Painted my toesies and my fingers nails a beautiful dusty rose color. I also whitened my teeth. Cooked eggplant my fav food. It’s the little things that make me smile. Xo2

My son is preparing dinner for us tonight. Fridays is my night off from cooking. We are having home made hamburgers tonight. My daughter also have to paint my nails for Sunday's cycling (MTB) competition.3

Listening to happy country music during my lunch break and eating a satisfying low carb lunch makes me feel good1

All these manicures and pedicures have inspired me. I'm going to go give myself a pedicure right now! It's been ages.1

Spending time with friends that care for me as much as I care for them. Great laughters1 -
Bought/installed new smoke/CO detector (old one sounded it's "end of life" alarm).
Monthly "out of office" lunch with co-workers (2 current/1 retired). We've been doing this since November and really enjoy it.
Watching a bunch of inspiring "Diane in Denmark" YouTube videos, which led me to start tossing DECADES-old makeup this morning. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, but I think it's a good idea. I made the mistake of testing an eyeliner I've had since the 1980's, and my eye started bothering me. (Eye drops have soothed the iritation.)3 -
Back to basic self-care today.
- Walked during morning and afternoon breaks.
- Logged!
- Really loving the book I'm reading/listening to ("Before and Again" by Barbara Delinsky).

I have been coming to terms with the idea that my fitness goals will have to be out on hold and may take some snacks for to needing hernia surgery scheduled for March first. I have been trying to make lemonade and party of that is recognizing that I can spend March focusing on other goals and a big party of that is focusing on mental health things like finally fixing my sleep schedule and fixing my hands and feet from the beating they take during my workouts.
I also had a follow up about my newer medication. It's been working well except for one side effect related to a delicate matter. In the past, I normally wouldn't talk about it with a make doctor but I advocated for myself and discussed it with him and I am really glad I did. It was an open and honest conversation that went better than I expected.
Also, my husband and I have been catching up on the CNN decades series. I have really been enjoying it and I love that intro.3 -

I feel you. I'm still recovering from recent surgery myself, and not being able to do my usual fitness routines is a true bummer. But it's good that you've already "come to terms" with focusing on other, non-physical, things during your recovery. That's what I'm trying to do as well - including that pesky sleep schedule thing. Good luck with your surgery! Hope your recovery is as fast and complication-free as mine has been so far. (I'm still so grateful for how well it's going, even though it's slow and frustrating at times!) You got this!4 -
Had two terrible nights sleep, and was struggling a lot at work. Felt like people were demanding every minute of my time and having too many responsibilities outside of work.
At 5:30 am I went for an angry 80 minute run and thought of logical kick-*kitten* ways to reduce a lot of time spent on administration, and implemented them when I got back.
I also set a limit on expectations someone had on me that I was only doing because she didn't have her own limits on what she feels she can do.
I made it through the day without needing any sort of medication or self-medication, and only realised this when it was all over and it hadn't even occurred to me to use any. Nearly 400 days alcohol free.
Instead of freaking out with anxiety I'd been proactive.
Proud of myself for not pulling out of any volunteer responsibilities completely, since I'm proud of what I'm involved in.
Today I realised I'd rather use the money I've saved for flights and accommodation to do a marathon in April on a new, faster computer for myself.
This will improve my quality of life immensely and reduce a lot of frustrations.
I also decided to build a stronger 30 km distance base rather than max out my resources for 2 months on a marathon that would mean my glute/piriformis pain would worsen just when it's been a lot better.
Feeling like I've actually won a marathon now!

@skram01's upcoming surgery reminded me of something I've done in the past for a friend, but it would also be nice as a self-care item. Fill a pretty box, basket, etc., with items for your recovery. For example, cozy socks, hand/foot cream, favorite tea, books, magazines, crossword/sudoku puzzles, a scented candle or other aromatherapy item, etc. (Lol, I'm sure you get the idea.)

Today's self-care was a brief, very-early-morning walk. It had snowed last night, just enough to cover the ground and sidewalks, and the snow was glistening like diamonds. I had fun trying to identify various animal prints in the snow.
I'll start a March thread as soon as I post this.2 -
February is over and here's my calendar of self care. I faltered in the middle with tracking but overall a good month.

I've had ups and downs this month after I told my Husband I wanted a divorce. Some days I cry and some days I'm happy; but every day I am at peace with my decision.
Things I do to calm down:
*Mediate every day before sleep
*Today I typed two pages of reflections on this past month so I don't forget how I felt.
* reaching out to close friends when I need to talk
* Binged watched "money heist" on Netflix - amazing show (subtitles make you focus more )
* Continued to workout after school3 -
