The Porsche 911 has been built in Stuttgart Germany since it started in the early 60's. It actually was to be called the 901, but Peugeot owned the rights to all car names with three numbers and a zero at the center.

I had a 1990 Peugeot when I lived in Houston in the mid 90's. I loved that car! I hated getting rid of it.

In 1998, the City of Des Moines, Iowa rejected a pedestrian bridge design for being "too modern." The design was based on plans made by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1504.

After realizing his voice would be dubbed, David Prowse, the actor for Darth Vader, often improvised his lines which resulted in his co-stars having to respond to the correct lines anyway.

Arnold Schwarzenegger faked interest in the movie "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot" to trick Stallone into starring in it. Sylvester Stallone later called the movie "maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we’ve never seen."

Mardi Gras was actually first observed in the "new world" by French pioneers in Mobile, Alabama in 1703.

Edited because autocorrect changed Mardi to "Marci"

William Shatner directed 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier' because of a clause in his contract dating back to the original series ensuring that whatever Leonard Nimoy got—he did too. So after Nimoy directed 'Star Trek IV', Shatner insisted that he get a turn at directing a movie.

(IMO - it was a horrible movie and their worst one)

The following figures were born, raised by someone other than their parents, grew up to learn their true identities, and fulfilled their destinies.
    • Oedipus: King Polybus of Corinth; the (true) son of King Laius of Thebes; killed his (true) father as foretold by the Oracle.
    • Moses: Pharaoh; a Hebrew slave; led his people out of bondage.
    • Romulus: raised by a she-wolf; son of the Roman god of war, Mars; killed his brother Remus and founded Rome.
    • Jesus: Mary and Joseph; Son of God; died for the sins of mankind.
    • Arthur Pendragon: Merlin the Magician; son of Uther Pendragon; pulled the sword from the stone and united England.
    • Superman: Ma and Pa Kent; alien from Krypton; served Truth, Justice and the American Way.
    • Luke Skywalker: Uncle Owen; son of Darth Vader; saved the galaxy.
It's a common theme. There are plenty more if you search the history books.
