But whether you are using butter, oil, or spray oil, you are still eating the fats, you're not drinking or snorting them, are you?
I think eating fats from dense foods like nuts are more enjoyable.3 -

No, don’t be silly. I mean consuming actual food, solids. Oils never really kept me feeling “full” Same with protein shakes, never did it for me. I use avocado oil while I’m bulking a bit more than I use it now, and just use protein shakes to get my protein intake up. But if you ever wanna snort some olive oil, let me know0 -

I'm sure there's gonna be someone out there who says snorting oil has health benefits! Perhaps a yogic practise?
I don't really enjoy eating fats personally, I'd rather get my calories from protein and carbs with a small amount of fats. My preferred macros are 15 fat 45 protein 40 carbs. Each to their own!1 -

So while we’re offering ‘key tips’ here’s mine: if you really, really want something, then have it. Maybe that’ll require finding a way to lower the calories, or just having a tiny bit, or shuffling the rest of your day’s calories to accommodate; but really wanting one thing and eating other things instead just leads to misery and bingeing.
There, isn’t that better than a simplistic tip about spray fats that it turns out the tipper doesn’t entirely follow himself?
I agree, who really wants oil tho? Yeah it’s healthy, and it fries up some good bacon. I personally feel like it’s a waste of calories, I’d rather eat my fats. Also, this way helps ME avoid the whole bingeing idea. You should never not eat foods you enjoy, that’s not what I’m saying at all.
Well, me. I prefer the taste of things fried properly in a little decent olive oil, and it's easy to avoid going over if you measure by the tablespoon. I can't abide those spray things, and didn't use them once while I was losing.
Which is why it's misleading to call this a 'key tip'. It's just personal preference.15 -

Those are good percentages, high protein is always best. If my fats are too low, I get moody. I try and keep them between 0.4 - 0.6 per one pound of body weight. Carbs are the best tho for sure6 -

But it is a key tip, I have clients who have come to me and thanked me. “I didn’t realize how much oil I was actually using” but you’re right. I’m not arguing with you over the “key tip” thing7 -
I love using olive oil, hot oil and butter to add flavour. I make Italian food mostly for my family so that is not something I'm willing to cut out.
I do use oil spray here and there, but I prefer to cut my fats in other ways. I tend to avoid nuts, seeds, avocado, etc. I don't like eating fat so that is easy for me. Some people love eating high fat and cut their calories elsewhere.
Whatever works.9 -

You can use the spray time on the bottle 3x the amount of 1 serving of avocado oil/olive oil and still have around 20 less calories. Calorie friendly is great while calories are low
Or, if it's a oil-only, no propellant spray . . . just as a wild thought: Put the bottle on the food scale, tare, spray your whatever, put the bottle back on the scale, and read and log the negative. So easy, and accurate.
I find some things easier to spray with oil, and some things easier if I pour the oil from a bottle. Either way, it's often in the 3-8g per use range for my common cases, but that's just me.0 -

Actually, I do. I use it in salads along with vinegar. The calories are well worth it.7 -

I want oil too. Less of it, but I want it. It's never a waste of calories when it makes something taste better. I'd pay more calories for food pleasure any day, within reason, and would not regret it.1 -
I don't know why people are giving you grief about this. Yes there are some dishes where oils and butter add to the flavour but others where its just used as a cooking aid and in those cases it's much easier to moderate the amount using a spray than pouring. I really don't have a steady hand so free pouring oil could end up with up to 60 calories extra.
The other thing that I would mention is that you have to be careful with the type of pans you use these sprays with as I found that with the cheaper pans my food was burning and my pan was getting destroyed. I now only use it with my good pans and at a moderate heat.4 -

I never use oil to fry bacon. Haven't found a need to. I just put the bacon in the pan on medium heat, and once the fat in the bacon starts to melt which self-greases the pan, turn the heat up.3 -

The grief is that he isn't saying it like that. He isn't just saying easier to moderate, he's saying it is key, as if it is necessary to use sprays over buttering / greasing.8 -

It's the way he titled the post and worded his op. Very obnoxious and confusing to people to may be new to this whole thing.6 -
Oil isn't worth it to you, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth it to anyone. Sometimes I just want some vegetables roasted in olive oil or a salad topped with a vinaigrette. As long as it fits in my calories, why not?4

Just invest in a airfyer but read the comments and reviews till you find one thats worth it.0

This is the healthiest cooking spray you could buy, it says right on the back of the bottle. I use as little of the spray you could possibly use, everytime I cook. 1 bottle last me a week..
If that's a 200ml bottle like mine that's a lot of oil in a week???
I use an oil spray but only because I have a tendency to glug from a larger bottle and the spray is handier. Lost 40lb without it the first time round and I can't say it's making much difference getting rid of the 10lb regain.1 -

You realize that it can say "0 calories" as long as the actual calories are less than 5 per serving, right? The bottle I saw that sounds like what you are describing lists 336 servings per container. So that means 1 bottle contains anywhere from something > 0 to 1,344 calories. That could be a lot of calories per week. It's exactly the same stuff as a bottle of oil, it's just aerosol-ized.
The serving size is "1/3 of a second". Unless you are using it 336 times per week, you are using way more than the serving size every time you use it. Regardless, I find it much easier to weigh out my portion, and control the amount by pouring it into a measuring spoon first than to control how many fractions of a second I spray. It's great if it works for you - but I think it should be made clear for other readers that it is NOT 0 calorie, and if you're going through a bottle a week you are honestly using more oil than I do pouring it out of the bottle.10 -

Turn oven to 400.
Put a sheet of parchment on a rimmed sheet pan.
Put bacon on parchment in a single layer, nearly touching.
Bake 15-20 minutes, or until its the doneness you like.1 -

What are you calling a serving though? I can typically do most of my sauteing with 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of oil. The only time I use a full Tbsp serving of oil is when I'm making a big batch of something that's going to end up being numerous servings.
I do use my avocado oil spray when I'm making eggs though.3 -
All I was saying is that if you’re trying to cut calories and don’t want to get rid of certain foods you enjoy and are still using oil, switch to the spray. Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey4
