Suggestions

Hi all!

I have been dieting for a few weeks and am down about 7 lbs. I am 5'7 and now 173 lbs. My body fat is/was about 23%. I want to end up around 170 with around 16% body fat but am not sure how to get there. Should I continue to focus on losing weight first before trying to bulk? I guess I would shoot for around 165 lbs before putting in 5lbs to see how I look and feel. Has anyone tried this? Do you have any suggestions? I appreciate any help on this.....also, my belly fat is my main problem area but the weight lose has been primarily on my face and chest area (my man boobs)

*edit, I misread thinking you are female. Carry on, hope you find the answer you are seeking.

You don’t mention any exercise. If you are not lifting yet, start lifting now.

Getting to a lower weight and body fat percentage without lifting will just give you the same look you have now, only smaller.

Lifting during your weight loss will help preserve muscle and may give you some newbie gains. It will almost certainly improve the visual you too.

    Pick a programme:-

Once you meet your goal weight you may want to recomp, or do a bulk cut cycle.

    Cheers, h.

They are a lot of programs listed above that you can load into apps on your phone for tracking such as Regimy and JEFIT (both iOS).

small deficit (0.5lbs per week), adequate protein and a good lifting program.
  • Are you doing in home workouts or do you go to the gym? There are some amazing fitness YouTubers that may be able to help. If you are doing in home fitness P90x is great . I also love Cathe Friedrich's workouts.

BF % measurements are notoriously inaccurate. Take them with a grain of salt. Taking into account the daily fluctuation in body weight due to water, you're essentially at your goal already. I'd just go for body recomp now. Check out the thread on that.

There are many other threads, but that's a good one to start with.
