8 weeks on MFP! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
My journey so far:
- I have continuously logged everything for 60 days
- All my clothes are getting baggy-er and will need new winter clothes at a smaller size ๐
- My fitness is amazing! 3.5km on C25K, 4km hiking in 45mins, I can manage 12 (!!!) assisted pullups ๐ฎ Strength is definitely improving
- Face has thinned down, arms are showing definition, legs are noticeably thinner. Stomach area looking flatter. Bust slightly smaller....
- Right ankle pain GONE, knee pain GONE, lower back issues GONE, ITB much much better.
- I feel more happier, am kinder to myself, sleep a *kitten* load better and feel more focussed.
- I have been logging 1300-1600 net calories, with the exception on some Saturday's, where it's around 1600-2000
I am the most happiest that I can share this with MFP family. Unfortunately, my husband hasn't commented/not shown any care and my sister doesn't react well with anything weightloss or fitness related.
But this community has given me so much support, motivation and love. I thank each one of you ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐49 -
Retrospective: Today is six months since giving away all the junk food and getting serious
A.) Iโve made it six months, including logging in every single day since I joined MFP a month or so in.
B.) I no longer crave foods and I seem to have broken the habit of mindlessly eating (it helps to stay occupied, including something as simple needlepoint to divert the hands)
C.) Iโve discovered oranges, cottage cheese with strawberries and blueberries, and banana smoothies can be extremely sweet and satisfying, now that my palate is โcleansedโ
D.) I saw my mortal enemy-Cadburyโs Crispy Eggs- in the grocery last night, picked up the splurge bag I had promised myself for my weightiversary, read the calories, and put it back down again (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I would very honestly eat two bags a day as soon as they hit the shelves after Valentines. Instead, Iโm treating myself to raisin bread French toast for breakfast today. And fitting it in my calories.
E.) Yesterday I held crow pose (a personal goal) and also found myself (for an instant!) in flying pigeon the first time I ever tried it.
F,) Friday two fit guys had a discussion with me about how they wished they were as strong in the core as me (yeah, I posted that up-thread but Iโm still in the afterglow if that one) in Pilates
G.) Iโve gone from very well into the obese range to just a blink away from โnormalโ, but Iโm trying to slow down the weight loss now, and am feeling weight-confidence-mature enough to accept that it may be another few weeks. No rush for that last 2 3/4 pounds. And then Iโll establish a new goal.
Folks, I am living proof it can be done. Six months ago I was like โyeah, right, I just donโt want this new prescription, so letโs try thisโ, but at 56, I have newfound confidence, inner and outer strength and energy, and I feel better than I have for the last thirty years.
I sincerely wish the same for all of you.46 -
Iโm no longer considered obese ๐46

There were free doughnuts at work on Friday and I looked at them and genuinely decided I didn't want one. Even a month ago, I may have chosen not to have one and then sat either feeling virtuous or like I was missing out. This time, there was no emotion attached beyond 'nah, not today'. Huge step for me.36
-
I went over my calorie goals last night (drinking a bit and eating bar food) but when I logged it all this morning I realized I'd eaten way less than I usually would when out, I even stopped eating all the friend stuff cause my stomach couldn't handle it! Huge victory for me15
-
I bought sailor style pants, the kind with buttons on the sides of your belly that really highlight the lower stomach area. I remember being on a double date when I was 22 (twenty years ago) and thinking the other girl was so lucky she could wear those pants. She wasn't skinny but still looked very good in them and I definitely could not see myself ever being able to wear that (very large fat roll in that area). Yesterday she was my inspiration because I looked just like she did in them, I practically wanted to high-five myself if I'm honest!45

I really didnโt want to go hiking today. I was tired, it was blowing a gale (well, not quite an actual gale, but there was a weather warning of wind throughout the county), my dodgy ankle ached...
I return a conquering hero, having hiked through sun, rain, wind and hail. The hail stung like bullets, the wind whipped me in the face with my own rucksack straps, I realised somewhere in mile 14 that Iโd strained my thigh (probably compensating for that ankle) - and I wouldnโt have missed it for the world.24 -
Beautiful day after weeks (more like months) of rain and gloom, so aired up all the bike tires, convinced the 5 yo to squish in the bike trailer with the 3 yo and took the older boys on a 3 m round trip bike ride to the snow cone shop. I only took about 3 bites of the younger boysโ ice cream, so NSV there too
theyโre excited to try a slightly longer ride to the baseball fields, with a goal of working up to the 3.6 m each way trip to their best friendsโ house. Love seeing them tackle with ease something that last year seemed impossible, and make plans for harder goals. 5 yo is eyeing his older brotherโs bike and wanting to finally be confident without training wheels. Pretty sure the 3 yo just wants the bike trailer to himself to eat snacks in, but hey, theyโve all got goals.
ETA: I can see the gigantisizing of America at work in this shave ice shop. EVERYTHING is huge. There are no kidโs sizes. The smallest cup is what would have been an adult medium when I was a kid. Mine shared two to a cup, but still...nothing smaller??? It would have taken gargantuan will power to eat half of that โsmallโ and throw the rest away (not going to bike it home).12 -
Had to buy my first cocktail dress for my niece's wedding. Even though the scale is not showing a big change I am down one full dress size! Yes indeed!!!25

I honestly don't care if they come around. I'm doing this for myself and only me. I'm happy to celebrate each goal/milestone on here and with the MFP community. I cannot let my husband or sister bring me down. It's sad, but I'm at peace with it ๐
I only wish I can be an inspiration to my sister - she needs to lose weight before her health suffers.15 -
70 degrees here in Va today. I brought out my shorts and they were loose, no better feeling than that! 30 lb loss since last July so it really makes a difference.13

I bought this belt *years* ago. It has never fit me, yesterday I tried it on again after trying it on and it almost fitting last weekend. I can get it done up! So excited to be able to wear it finally, I have a barrel race this weekend, I think by then the belt will fit even better (it's actually not as tight as I expected it to be)22 -
Oh also- 22 minutes of jogging last night! Turned on Map my walk as I started my jog part of c25k w6d3 (I think) and I jogged 2.97km in that time- so close!16

I miss the gym! I have an 11 week old gorgeous German shepherd puppy who needs lots or attention right now, had her 3 weeks and managed gym once. Iโve been on the puppy diet and lost 5 lbs as no time to eat much lol. Hoping to fit in gym next week or so once can take puppy out for long walks (can gym when she sleeps). I adore her, but never thought Iโd be someone who misses working out lol16
