What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I recently changed my goal weight from 150 to 149? Why? The scale at my gym is one of those old-fashioned Detecto beam scales that you see a lot in doctor's offices. You slide the bottom weight to either 100, 150, 200, and so on. Then you fine tune by sliding the smaller weight on top. I want to be able to move the bottom weight to the "100" slot. Now, that's petty!34

I have gone through several petty reasons to lose weight and none of them ever stuck. So my number one reason now is my health. But out of all my reasons, the pettiest one is so I can go in any store and pretty much know I'll be able to find everything in my size instead of being limited to a much smaller plus size section that still never has my size.8

This is the type of scale I use at home! It’s in my closet, I don’t trust those electronic ones, I prefer good old physics! Anyway just moving the bottom weight to just 100 and not 150 is not petty, when it happened for me I danced around the house for a good half hour!17 -

Congratulations on moving that bottom weight. I have a Renpho digital scale at home. A lot of times, I'll come home from the gym and step on it to compare to what I weighed at the gym. It's always on the money!

I want to look good naked. Plus, after having lived in California, I'm tired of being told "You're fat for California."
OMG—I feel you! I live in SoCal and it’s hard here as the beauty expectations are so high and so inaccessible for most of us. Don’t get me started on dating ....6 -

As long as men aren’t leering, disgusting or nasty about it, I don’t mind being checked out. I also want to maintain my flat stomach and thinner thighs. I have a picture of one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels as my phone’s wallpaper to help motivate me. That’s my ultimate body goal.
I also refuse to be the crap stereotype of the fat American.
So good to hear that you're proud of how you look! 🔥5 -
I'm tired of being the middle-aged fat guy. Not that I'm trolling for girls, I'm not. But I wouldn't mind being noticed every now and then.15

When I tell people I go to the gym all the time I want them to look at me and believe it.16

Not a petty reason really, but my daughter lost 60lbs since last March (so proud!!) We're going to Italy in August and I don't want to be her fat Mum, especially as its likely to be over 40C while we're there! Not sure I'll match her spectacular loss though!12

I want to fit into the multiple pairs of jeans I have in my closet that are too small.11

I love this reason, even though it reminds me that we had a scale like this while I was growing up and my parents put it in the basement next to my sister’s and my bedrooms. No wonder I still have weight issues.

My petty reason is pretty common I guess. During a very stressful period, I was depressed and binge eating. Gained a good 25 lbs. Basically stopped interacting with anyone, including my fiance, for 3 months or so.
Fiance cheated on me with a younger, smaller, more fit girl. He's got an 8 pack, works out at least 2 hrs 6 times a week.
We worked things out, we love each other very much BUT...
He doesn't believe that I will lose the weight, work out/get fit AND stay that way.25 -
Because Imma remind my ex of how I am. And I need to get rid of this flab.7

To look good in my clothes and revenge...I want him to know what he missed out on.7

My petty reason....THIS. I want to NEVER have to shop in the Plus-Woman's section ever again. When I saw these tops I took a photo. Why do manufacturers believe that plus women want loud horrible patterns and tons of elastic?

My petty reason is to never hear the words "youre pretty, for a big girl" or "you'd be so pretty if you lost some weight." I have heard those two remarks all my life.15
-
Aside from the serious reasons- better health, joints are giving out, etc- I have an EX-bestfriend who has always outweighed me by at least 150 lbs- well, now she has lost some weight and when I see her I hear her snide remarks about how I've gained weight since high school (come on now- its 20 years and 3 kids later, she has no children) I want to be the one making snide remarks about how I started losing after her and hit my goal weight first.17

To be the fit mom at the pool and beach that other moms hate. Can't put my finger on why, but I LOVE getting dirty looks for rocking a daringly tiny bikini in public while out with my kids. I think it's hilarious.15

Let's face it, smaller clothes are less expensive than plus-size, and easier to find. And they look better.
And a not-so-petty reason. Every time I'm told, "I'm sorry, we're not hiring," my automatic thought is, "OK, which is it? My age, my weight, or my cane?" At least I'd be able to eliminate one of those.17 -
To be able to fcking wear normal sized clothes.
To become skinnier (actually just less fat) than my mom, because now she feels like she has to tell me all the time how fat I am or how much I eat (which is BS, but it makes her feel good or something...)
And to be a pretty girlfriend!12
