I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40.

4/25- 164-I’m starting a bit late. I fell off the wagon at Easter then left town and ate bad. I cam back to take a quilting class the rest of the week and walked yesterday morning before I left, but sat all day and didn’t want to stop for lunch, so I ate chips when I got home and made dinner. Last night I made a salad to take today. I will walk 7 miles this morning before I leave and will hopefully be back on track!
4/26-163-I’ve been getting my walks in before my class. I’ve also been taking my lunch. It sure takes a while to get back to the lower number after eating bad for a couple of days. Not worth it. It’s Friday!!!!!!!!!

@deepwoodslady Donna, the shopping cart is the reason I started wearing my tracker on my ankle. An hour or 2 walking around Walmart or Sam’s Club and zero steps?? NO WAY!
@brandyme Try a short fast. Even intermittent fasting might help. Give yourself only a 6-8 hour window for meals. I’m not sure what plan you are following but even something as simple as cutting your carbs can make a huge difference. Just remember, you didn’t gain overnight and you won’t lose it all overnight.

Round four, back for more! I have another challenging round ahead of me. I'll be taking my high school students on their first multi-day trip right in the middle of this round and I'm also expecting my TOM at the same time. That means water retention and high sodium food choices for several days. I plan on being more diligent tracking my water, getting at least 10,000 steps everyday, and I'm aiming for a 1 lb weight loss to get myself back to where I was at the end of Round 73.

04/23 184.6 lb Yesterday was a great start to this round! I drank 45oz of water and 22oz of non-calorie drinks, walked 13,645 steps, and kept within my calorie goals. We even went to Red Robin for dinner and I got salmon instead of the usual burger and fries. It was tasty, if not a little too salty. More water planned for today as it's the boyfriend's night to provide dinner and it usually is not particularly healthy.
04/24 184.6 lb I walked 13,218 steps, drank 30oz of water and 34oz of non-calorie drinks and kept within my calorie goals again. I'm getting anxious about the high school trip. I expect it to go well; I've taught most of these students for the last five years and know them very well, but I keep thinking of the phrase, "One kid, one brain. Two kids, no brains." We have 23 kids going on this trip.
04/25 183.6 lb Yesterday I had 14,529 steps tracked, 30oz of water and came in under calorie goals in preparation for our band trip. We boarded the bus at 6:30 with no issues and are on our way to Philadelphia!
04/26 Travelling, no scale. I tracked 13,415 steps, drank about 30 oz of water, and went about 700 calories over, which isn't too bad for restaurant food all day. The students are behaving well and our day is packed with museum visits and musical experiences. They better sleep well tonight to be ready for our competition tomorrow.

04/23 337.2 I’m surprised by this drop, especially since I was sure my sodium was high yesterday. But I guess it wasn’t as bad as I feared and I dropped water weight from the weekend. I’ll see what the next few days bring and not be surprised if I see a bounce up.
04/24. 338.2 Hey I’m getting good at predicting the bounces. To be fair this number seems closer to what I thought I should be, so I’m pretty happy with it.

4/26 126.0 Had lunch at Carlito’s. I had the stuffed sopapilla with green chili. And I ate 1/4 of the dessert sopapilla with honey. It was all delicious and it was an experiment to see how those things would affect me. It was more carbs in one meal than I usually eat in a week! We’ll see what happens over the next couple of days.

04/24 150.8, surprised on weight loss because I had two beers and a polish sausage. I wasn’t over terribly on calories but expect an uptick over the next few days. Worth it though!
04/25 150.7, first of two cocktail parties is tonight. Did a double yesterday to help with calorie intake. I did wake up thirsty so 64 oz of water wasn’t enough to combat the salt the previous day. Will make sure I’m hydrated going into tomorrow and the week end.

It's hard to tell if it's metabolic or related to depression (i.e. premenstrual dysphoria; T.O.M. is coming up). Also I haven't been working out at all, and maybe that is making me conserve more energy??? Idk, I'm gonna do a 1 mile jog before work and see if that helps.

Yesterday I had a NSV, I was browsing Facebook around lunchtime and someone posted about wanted taco Bell and then all of the sudden I really wanted some taco Bell crunchy beef tacos. I realized that while attempting to achieve my goal weight I had been super strict when it came to fast food, but now that I'm securely at the low end of my range why am I still avoiding it? Could it be unhealthy anxiety? So I decided to prelog 3 crunchy tacos and guess what? They were only ~500cal, the same as my lunch usually is now. So I did it, I went over to taco Bell and had 3 crunchy tacos for lunch and guess what? It was awesome and satisfying.

04/23 …..194.3 ….. Down in water weight I’m sure. It never ceases to tick me off that I can go up by 5 pounds overnight (obviously mainly water), but only go back down 2.5. Oh well, it is what it is. I will not be discouraged today. Yesterday was on plan. 1430 Calories In / 2476 Calories Out. 11 Net Carbs. 13,220 Total Steps & 5.6 Total Miles. IF 16:8. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 6 minutes. I walked for about 11 minutes until being called away by work phone call but every little bit counts. I suffered from tremendous hunger & unbelievable cravings all day yesterday. I am so proud I made it through it without any hiccups. This is always what happens after a holiday or an epic cheat or binge. All the hunger & cravings return and my battle starts all over. I just have to try to remember that it is not worth it. Seriously, the less frequently this happens, the better off I am. I don’t like my graph lines trending upward & I was angry that I finally felt the need to change my ticker. I did great yesterday & I’m proud moving forward. No looking back except to learn. I wish everyone the best this round.

I suffered with much hunger & craving again yesterday due to all the recent carbs. However, I made it through with all my tools.

04/25 …..197.0 ….. A reasonable lunch out yesterday during travel. A very reasonable dinner. But the carbs kill me everytime. Most of my steps are not counted when shopping & pushing my cart while out of town so my fitbit info is inaccurate. I know I hit over 10,000 steps & 11/13 fitbit step hours. However, I know there was a lot less movement and overall calorie burn. As a Type 2 diabetic, my body just will not process or tolerate carbs. My weight is so quickly inflated, as are my glucose readings. I try to stay mindful of this. Anyway, my sleep was 5 hours & 21 minutes. Home today & on plan. It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day. I love you carbs, but you don’t love me back, so we are going to have to part ways.
04/26 ….196.8. ….. A tiny blip down. The food choices were not as good as they should have been, but I made it through a very late night with no LNS and no bingeing so that is a big plus. I managed a 44 minute walk but was otherwise busy. A grab & go day which never works correctly into my plan. Today is set to be busier but I am going to try hard to eat at regular intervals so the glucose doesn’t drop & I don’t start grabbing at food blindly again in a what feels like a frenzied life-saving desperate measure to fix it all QUICKLY. I know what to do, I just have to find a way to do it. My contractor is running late today but more work on the kitchen today & more cabinets being installed. That complicates things but I will make it work! I am also babysitting for my 1 yr old DGS this evening while my daughter takes my son & the two DGSs that are older to game night at the library. How I will have cabinets installed & watch the baby too, I have no idea. I so glad, however, they are all going to have a great time. It is always nice to spend time with the baby but this will be a challenge. I am going now to put towels over all the laundry baskets full of food from the old cabinets that are sitting in the livingroom & hoping for the best! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Back again! Had a great trip though came back last Thursday with a cold and absolutely exhausted. Stepped on the scale Friday and it said 157.8!! That was partly the result of eating very little when I was driving because my stomach was off but still a very encouraging number. Goals this round – stay in the 150’s and hopefully end with 157something, keep daily movement up.

Back for another round! Last round I ended with a slight gain, but I had a 5 day vacation, Easter weekend, and a family death that all happened in that round. Lots of eating out, stress, and family to deal with. So I was pretty happy that I was only up a couple of pounds and that I was able to pretty much maintain through all of that. I usually don't set goals for myself during these rounds, I just try and do my best and see what I can accomplish, but I will be setting 2 this round. I want to see a 146 something and I do not want to see a 150 anything on the scale the entire time. Good luck everyone!

This month has just been so stressful all the way around. Yesterday my Senior and Junior in high school found out 1 of their friends (17 years old) committed suicide. That was after we found out my middle schooler (my autistic child) got into a fight at school. He had been doing so well and making really great progress, it just really hit me as a step back. So while cooking and eating dinner my husband and I had a couple of drinks. I had been doing so good, but knowing we have to go to this funeral on Saturday for my husbands grandma and now all of this I needed a drink, lol! Back on the wagon today. Meals are prepped, water is next to me, and I will not have any alcohol tonight.

Had lovely lunch for Admin Pro day. Best part? Walked in the sunshine to get there and back. Steps, Baby! But, boss encouraged a frosty beverage along with lunch. Odd thing is I was craving junk all the rest of the night and DID NOT want to work out. But guess what? I ate a handful of almonds and another skinnytaste muffin, got a big glass of water and after that had settled... I worked out. Was within 100 cals of daily goal with all that so just took a shower and slipped into bed. Better there than in the kitchen eating crap. It paid off because the scale is down almost another 2 lbs. My little hangover belly is almost gone when I stand up straight. Love those non-scale wins!

@quiltingjaine : I know! But I usually go with my weekly weigh in on Friday's, that's where the 1.4 comes from. I always gain over the weekend and by Wednesday I lose the weekend weight. Thursday and Friday are my new lows. Not sure if that makes sense. It can be a bit discouraging, but I'm on my diet break

I've noticed that I'm more bloated/heavy the last few days and when I look back at my diet I see that I've been eating some of the foods that I'm sensitive to...it's just a little here and a little there, but I think it's adding up. So today I got back to my regular eating...I even went out for lunch and ordered a salad that fits into my food sensitivity issues.
